Writing from 10years old Xperia XZ1compact...baterry good, no freezing, no random restarts...still waiting for real compact phone for years - max 5,9" with high-end specs (or upper midrange).
Sony is out of competition. Niche product, niche market share, no survival.
Sony can do much much better, something is bad internally so they can't/won't figure it out.
if only they had reasonable prices.. i dont understand why sony's phones cost as if they were made of gold.
i really like the fact they still have MICRO SD CARD. its super important!
buy damn...... lower the price.
I just need them to make an 800$ solid midranger with all their flavour (and 21:9 please). Am I asking too much?
I am still using an Xperia 1ii
Was intending update to Xperia 1 VI...
Then it is no longer 4k 21:9..
If Xperia VII is still 2k screen, I gonna be buying Xperia 1v second then...

Why would Sony give you a flat more advanced 1VI for $800-$1000 so it could compete against vivo 200 FE?

Do you think sony can get 8 elite for same price compared to oppo /oneplus and samsung?
The more you buy, the better deals you get.
Even motorola basically using mediatek inside edge phones to avoid higher prices. Motorola is #2 in Latin America and #3 in USA .
If they've a dedicated software team (not a bunch of hobbyists) for their smartphones as they do for their PlayStation, they wouldn't have a problem.

It is weird commitment while not planning to sell mark 8 out of Pacific Asia
Despite all the marketing blurb "Powered by Alpha" I was hoping this year, the camera would be seen as the best in any smartphone and it doesn't seem to be the case.
As the Xperia 1 VII did not get the upgrade on the telephone zoom I'd hoped; still the same soft zoom four years in a row.
When you're the most expensive flagship, you need to have more than a micro SD, headphone jack and two stage shutter button. Admittedly they have improved the Ultra Wide, but the zoom is the one they really should have sorted out.
If they really are serious about staying in the market. I hope they look into updating tele zoom so as it doesn't look so soft when it reaches 7.1x magnification.
Possibly look at pricing it more competitively too!!!
you could easily revive the xperia brand, but someone at Sony doesn't want to. you have all the components and trademarks to make a successful product, there's no excuse for this failure.
I am a 34 yo boomer. I was a long time Sony fan buying plethora of their products, even phones.
My first Sony(Ericsson) phone was K800 and it was a beast at that time.
I've had a good experience with Xperia Z3 and XZ3 and in the meantime i was using some other brands.
Nearly 2 years ago i took my self a nice Christmas gift and get the Xperia 1 V.
Look... The phone is not bad per se. It is very good, just with average results and sometimes below average.. But if you had any other flagship you would know there's something really off with how Sony works. My wife's S21 FE has better pictures, even with her puny camera sensors on all three lenses. How can that be true for a 1400€ i payed for it? How? i don't know either. Sure, the manual controls are great to have, but almost any other flagship has it. Even shooting in raw format. Sony is not doing anything special, but they are not afraid to charge special prices. I know they have ultra small percantage of market and they can't get their components for more affordable prices, but c'mon Sony.... Wake up and made your choice. Are you in a niche category or mainstream? They are now trying both at the same time, but they are losing their fans. I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel for Xperia.
Xperia Z3 is still my favorite phone until this date, but i can't support Sony Xperia any more. Xperia 1 V will for sure be my last phone from Sony Xperia and i am sad because of it.

kammem2, 08 Aug 2025No memorable design
No innovation
No differentiating features
Just a dead brand, even ZTE a... moreThere are tons of features available on Xperia 1 that are still not available anywhere else, so saying it lacks innovation it only means you are not familiar with it.
Design is easily distinguishable as Sony. Now if you love it or hate it that's totally subjective and either choices are right choices.
Your call is very important to us..

That's why even if Sony unfortunately stops selling it in Europe after the 1 VII, I know that I could at least keep it for 6 to 7 years without any problems. But for now I have to be able to buy it and sales have to start very soon.
I await your 10 VII.... I won't even buy it but I want to see them release a competent midrange for once
