Unfortunately, I took all measures suggested but there was no way to recover the bricked phone. I have owned a few Sony phones but this is the first outright failure. I'll wait and see what the outcome of the investigation is but will stay away from replacing it with this gen for now.

I'm sorry but over 1k of phone with unfixable booting issues that has been undiagnosed for well over a week.
Why shouldn't people hate sony again? Because it has a microsd slot? Cool! You can't use it if you lost the phone lottery that you spent 1k on.

Even considering the audiojack and card slot, sony is much more expensive than the top end phones from other brands in most countries. Just doesn't justify the price. On top of that, their cameras and software is generally poor.

The telephoto camera is mediocre. The video recording is mediocre. Only 4 major OS updates. Also, only 256 GB storage option for most regions. Read the review on this website. It's a mediocre flagship phone that is released late and overpriced.

Sounds like manufacturing defect to me. A friend of mine upgraded his Xperia from 1 IV to the current 1 VII, and everything works without any issue.

I don't understand why people hate Sony so much when they are practically the only ones offering a flagship with microSD and audio jack, a screen without interruptions, a camera button, good battery life and more. The only problem I would say is the price and availability, but otherwise it looks good to me.

Dometalican, 10 Jul 2025I wouldn't mind a collaboration between those brands actually...They were innovators back in the day. Certainly more interesting than the glass slabs we get from OEMs now. I would've thought that high quality stereo speakers like the HTC M8 would be a given now, but that's not the case.

This is a bit of a stretch as most $100 phones are barely usable out of the box like those 4gb ram eMMC models.
