The comment of yours tha... moreYes, I know, you're going to explain to us all how to use a telephoto lens. Don't bother, because I've been reading complaints about Sony since at least 2007. As if some gang couldn't stand Sony's existence.
Chinese brands have no soul because they haven't invented anything.
No flash memory, no CMOS sensors, no lithium-ion batteries, no HDR, no SDR. It's important to me. For others, it's not, and that's it.
PS. One last question, and perhaps for the first time in your world, you'll answer: Is the telephoto macro function on the Xperia 1VI really bad and produces poor results? (this question is tricky). I've actually tested this feature extensively and have a ton of samples from this macro feature.

The comment of yours that I replied to gave me the impression that you were completely dismissing the general use case of a telephoto camera on a phone, so I replied in strong language.
You then proceeded to talk about its video capability, while I was talking about the overall (including photos) capability, as well as what I feel about Sony all things considered. We were on completely different topics while replying to each other, so of course our conversations didn't align at all.
The reason why I'm upset with Sony right now is that I had already been very dubious about their approach (to Xperia and to their users) for the last several years and they screwed it up hard this time. I did praise Xperia 1 VII's ultrawide camera in the comment section of GSMArena's review article because it was excellent and nearly market-leading in terms of both specs and its real-life image quality. Conversely, I'm calling its telephoto bad because it's indeed pretty terrible for photos. Nothing personal.

Sony could even go bankrupt for me; I don't care, just as I'm indifferent to Chinese companies.

To tell you the truth, I actually got a second-hand Oppo Find X8 Ultra from someone I know. Oppo's macro is quite a bit better than Xiaomi's (Less chromatic aberrations in out-of-focus areas), and I actually like SOOC colours, unlike Leica Vibrant/Authentic on Xiaomi, which has a strong character that works well in some scenes and not so much in others.. Oppo's so-called "Hasselblad colour modes" look quite different from Fuji's film-inspired tones, but I like the sense of nostalgia I feel from them nonetheless. For anything remotely professional, I'll just switch it to my trustworthy a7IV.
The reason why I brought up Xiaomi was that their flagships were essentially competing in the "Niche phone with a lot of marketing around camera" segment in the Japanese market. The second half of my previous comment was dedicated to explaining how Sony seemingly betrayed Xperia fans and the consequences of doing so. And yes, advertising a certain product for "pro" then slowly removing these niche features away (e.g. Disappearance of Photo/Cinema Pro apps to simplify the camera experience, replacing the 1644p a.k.a "4K" panel with a regular FHD+ panel) and ending up having a QC issue, something that many "pro"s consider to be completely unacceptable, is a terrible look for a brand.
I think I made my points pretty clear, so I rest my case here.

I refuted your point by saying that the latter is far more of a common use case than the former, hence you're the one who is "not in the right mind" for suggesting otherwise. Then I suggested that the X200 Ultra will most likely satisfy one's need if they are so keen about capturing insects.

I know that YOU were trying to talk about videos, while I was talking about photos, hence the general usability of the camera as a whole - I would never recommend a phone with a bad camera to anyone based on an extremely niche feature that happens not to exist on other phones. The anonymous guy you replied to was also talking about the camera in general and not specifically about video capability. You then decided to diverge the conversation to its specific video feature then mock them by claiming they "dont understand photo philosophy of that phone". I do see that your video shooting and editing skills are well above mine (My workload is heavily biased towards photos), but that has very little to do with the points I've been making for this entire time.

i dont give a f about makret share and testers that knowledge about colors, video and photo is 20% of mine. Im only test devices, use devices and trying to push boundries to the maximum. Go and buy Xiaomi because milions buy it. Im sure they are PROs and they knowloedge about optics and light is far away ahead of my person....

You're just a regular storyteller, of which there are tons of them on the internet these days. You talk and talk, and talk and talk but at the end you really don't know that much or anything.

Wider color space give you 1. future, 2. less clipping when you work with colors in DV pipeline (and yes we know that for chinese phone fans "Wider color space" is something bad and wrong). It's obvious that you're trying to force the discussion in the direction you want, and the conversation is about video, not photos. HLG transports HDR and SDR both in the same time and it is Japan and UK tech.
Xperia 1V has ultimate video quality on telephoto lens (form hand) and 1VI has telephoto macro.
If you tyring say that quality of telephoto is medicore then first watch "Under the sun | Xpreria 1V | Zeiss" from the 4th minute of the film (there is many samples from 85mm lens and insects like bees etc). Clip was recorded in auto mode with just AE correction.... and then if you watch those insects on 77 inch QD-OLED in 4K please came here and tell me that quality is poor, OK?

Most modern flagship smartphones support tracking autofocus, including face autofocus. At least for now, this is pretty much enough for smartphone cameras since their depth of fields are very deep and in most cases they only have 12MP of resolution to work with (which would make them far less susceptible to misfocusing). With that said, nobody is stopping you from enjoying the best-in-class eye AF on a type 1/3.5 sensor on Xperia's telephoto lens all you want lol.
Also, the 200MP sensor on X200 Ultra is read out at 12MP in regular shooting mode, and because this is sensor-level pixel binning, the readout speed will also be significantly improved. You won't notice a rolling shutter if you're simply capturing walking ants or flying bees.
Don't even think about convincing me or anyone else who is knowledgeable about this subject to even remotely consider buying this bootlooping mess based on its slow-mo capability. I have a Sony a7VI, so I know their dedicated cameras are excellent. This is also why I can immediately tell that Sony is giving a zero F about you passionate Xperia fans.
They were essentially trying to pitch Xperia as some niche "professional-grade" smartphone, yet stripping off features that were making them unique each year one by one, shoving a watered-down version of alpha series down your throat (Where's S-Cinetone in photo mode? Fully customisable Creative Look? RAW burst shooting that even their cheapest alpha camera supports?), and providing you bare minimum after sales support (as examplified by their middling OS upgrade policy) in an attempt to keep you satisfied for the next 3 years or so. They were making it so blatantly obvious that you were getting fooled.
If they wanted to go this route, at least they should have ensured that their products were manufactured to the highest quality standard. After all, keeping a good reliability record is a good way to establish your brand. Sony wouldn't have been able to afford any mishaps given their position in the smartphone market, yet they messed up really hard this time. Prior to this, they had already been losing their market share to Xiaomi in their home country, Japan - I don't think they will recover from this, at least for a long time.

And? Why should I care if both the sensor and the lens are so small that I get very mediocre-looking photos every time I use that supposedly awesome telephoto? Which consumer-grade monitor can benefit from this wider colour space when they don't support BT 2020 at all? Why bother putting effort into niche features when you can't even do the basics right? Like, when I would be paying 1500 USD for a phone, I wouldn't want it to produce rubbish-looking photos every time I switch to its telephoto lens lol.

HLG is simply one type of HDR format that is designed to be displayed correctly not only on an HDR but also on an SDR display as well. How on earth would that "destroy" its competitors🤦

Yes we know.. ale chinese phones (with zero history in electronics) are the BEST in the world. They can teleport, make fusion energy and catch dark matter! Ohhh YESSSS!!! And they have superb AF and low ROLLING SHUTTER on 200mpx sensor XD XD :D hah. We all know that all chinese phones have rolling shutter 0ms, XD Ichaaaaaa

Yep. And the problem is, this Xperia has bad cooling. Why it happened? Because Sony sucks at making a good one. Why they sucks? Well, ask those Sony engineers.

Problems don't spontaneously occurs. If the cooling is inadequate, it can cause performance issues. In this case, the inadequate cooling is the cause. I don't understand why this is so difficult to understand for you.
Anyway, if you put that external cooler on another phone that outperforms the Xperia 1 VII, the performance will improve and outperform the Xperia 1 VII even more.

Yet you proceeded to talk about filming insects in slow motion with a telephoto lens, which is far more of a peculiar thing to do than capturing a distant subject (which is, to tell you the truth, the primary use case of a telephoto lens). No one in their right mind would defend a bad camera based on its close-up shooting capability alone. It's unbelievable how wildly you managed to contradict yourself within a single comment.
Why don't you just get Vivo X200 Ultra then? Unlike Xperia's garbage telephoto camera with a pathetically small sensor and low-contrast lens, the one on X200 Ultra lets you take decent-looking photos regardless of the lighting condition and can shoot macro as well as 4K120fps video, and the best part is that it's a reliable phone that doesn't run into a bootloop issue lol.
