Everyone has his own opinion, you might like something that I don't like, that's normal.

NickValok, 04 May 2025Why don't most Chinese companies bring ultra smartphones to Europe or other countries? ... moreThe X200 Pro is being sold in Europe, what patents are required for the Ultra that isn't already covered by the Pro? For some reason, they just don't want to release the Ultra model in Europe but it has nothing to do with patents.

Xiaomi releases vanilla and ultra flagships in Europe but the not the Pro model and some clever guy is going to say the Pro model infringes patents?

Eyaddy, 04 May 2025I don't know why a lot of people hate the 1/1.28" sensor, it's as good as the 1... morea 1/1.28" sensor is NOT as good as a 1 incher. If it were a 1/1.12" one it would've been so close you could've said for 90-98% of people the differences are negligible but the sensor is still indeed smaller than and inferior to 1 inchers.

HOWEVER, the new sensor is so advanced and Vivo's processing is so exceptionally good that they were able to turn this con into a pro, the difference between 1 inchers and this 1/1.28" sensor became negligible. Don't underrate Vivo's processing excellence by saying a 1/1.28" sensor is as good as a 1 incher. They MADE it happen.

Besides, a 1/1.28" sensor alongside a 35 mm focal length is still vastly superior to a 1 inch 23 mm cam to me, anyone who is even remotely serious about photography will say so as well. Ofc there's personal preference at play but it is still undeniable that 35 mm is far more stunning than 23 mm.

Ben's gadget reviews did a recent shootout and anyone having any confusions about the sensor size/quality or the changes due to the focal length differences can check that vid out. Techtablets has a comparison too. In both instances Vivo is just better in 60-90% of the scenarios imo. Xiaomi pulling ahead in some scenarios and Oppo pulling ahead in portraits and that's it.

But a 1-inch option is nice to have in my opinion, if there isn't a tangible difference between their cheaper and expensive models with the series.

punmeisterone, 04 May 2025Again, on the topic of massive camera bumps. You can't be a wh*re and a virgin at the ... morewhy are you explaining this to me? I never said i hate the x200 ultra or anything, i just said most average people dont really care too much about or even understand cameras and thus wont be willing to sacrifice comfort for a phone, or they'll just use what i said as excuses for not buying this phone.

My point was that this phone wouldn't really have been a hit cus it's niche. I'm just saying it as it is man, even Chinese phone fanboys dont seem to like the 35 mm focal length for some reason.

I personally think this is easily, without any proper contest, the best cameraphone around and the Find X8 Ultra is only better due to its portrait photography. But I do think the Find X8 Ultra is a better phone. Better thermals, better speakers, faster charging AND better battery life. That's a lot of pros. I just dont understand why Vivo didnt either slap a larger battery in to make the camera bump less jarring or why Vivo even has comparatively worse battery life on their Ultras than on their Pros, the X200 Pro destroyed the Find X8 Pro and the X200 Ultra gets destroyed BY the Find X8 Ultra. Just weird, man. I wouldn't have minded a thicker phone if it meant it were more balanced and i think they should've stuck with the gradual camera bump of the X100 Ultra, that one was a masterpiece of phone design and im annoyed that they went towards this highly angular route after having made an exceptionally good looking yet comfy feeling design themselves.

You might think I'm just yapping but go take a look at all the Chinese reviews and you'll understand man.

Why don't most Chinese companies bring ultra smartphones to Europe or other countries?

First of all, unlike Samsung and Apple, their ultra smartphones are produced in very small quantities, almost like test units, so they can't afford to export them to other countries.
It's also because they can't avoid patents from other countries in the software part.
Crucially, if it breaks in a country other than China, will these brands be able to repair it?

It couldn't have been a hit because of the inflated price in the West. It would probably cost €1300-€1400! How would that compete against Samsung and Apple? A friend of mine just bought an S25 Ultra 12/512 in promotion, mother's day, yesterday from official Samsung site for €900 with a free case and free earbuds 3 pro. How can Chinese brands compete against that with inflated prices they have in Europe? haha

I don't know why a lot of people hate the 1/1.28" sensor, it's as good as the 1 inch one and if you look at the OPPO find X8 Ultra's review you will find that the 1 inch sensor makes a weird light circles in night time when there is something moving with bright lights like cars, while the 1/1.28" sensor didn't do that in the same exact situation. You can call it a software issue but for me I don't think that the 1 inch sensors are much different from the 1/1.28" sensors.

You can't be a wh*re and a virgin at the same time. You can't have BOTH.

If you want Full-Frame camera like quality, that means you will have a camera bump as big as the moon. If you want a flat, thin phone, that means you should deal with meh cameras. Your choice.

Until there's some physics bending camera sensors on the market, that's the reality.

The X200 Ultra wouldnt really have been a hit as 90% of people dont either understand or dont appreciate the beauty of 35 mm compared to 23 mm so they'd have found another excuse to go away.

Not only that but the camera bump being a massive crater is also going to ick some people out even tho the pixel 9 pro and stuff still have really intrusive bumps, tho ofc not as offensive as this, but it's all still quite intrusive imo.

I'm still rocking vivo's last true flagship x80 pro in India. Wanted x100 ultra & x200 ultra. But they won't make it happen. If they release x300 ultra in india looking like another brick iphone it's just going to be sad

After researching phones for the best for photography. For nighttime shots. For everything one needs. At a high pixel rate so one can print out in large format ones end result. The price. All these things taken into consideration, the Vivo X200 pro came out ontop for me. And now the X200 Ultra. But the Pro has still got a better spec. But the issue for us in the UK is finding a global version. Or waiting and hoping the global version will be released. I think Vivo would make an absolute global domination with their mobile phones. 👍

This would only be made in limited numbers. It’s a showcase model, not something they can make, let alone sell, in volume. It’s worse if Vivo wanted to sell this globally as they have to provide support and spare parts t in many countries. The cost would outweigh the low sales. People in Internet forums onky pretended they would buy one, but none actually would.

No, it couldnt have been. We live in late stage capitalism when companies dont compete on prices. They do the inverse, they compete on how much they can increase the price without dropping in sales. So Vivo would be overpriced and very near if not above iphone/galaxy levels, so it wouldnt do well.

It really is a shame because I truly believe that phones like this released in Europe and the US would really force Samsung and Apple to reconsider their hardware choices. But especially on the Android side it would force some real innovation, the X200 Ultra is just simply amazing. I know that their strategy is more concentrated towards SEA for expansion, but at some point you have to at least try and see if people would buy it if you release it and push it in Europe. I think it would sell.
