Eno2, 05 May 2025I don't know how can you evaluate image quality without full size image comparison?! The... moreYou can infer from the "look". Oppo's photos look blurry, even my grandma can tell it. And even then, there are a few cropped shots for you to take a look at the details of, so i dont see what you're even yapping about.

RAW shots only show what the sensor is capable of, not what the phone does. And i never said anything bad about Oppo's exposure/color processing, i've said before that it's either the best or joint best with some other styles and stuff and the Master Mode is also exceptional.

You're just making random excuses instead of facing the facts. No point in arguing with someone like you. Bringing up random stuff like sensor size, RAW and color science when i didn't even talk about that.

All that matters is the end result and Oppo's shots aren't as nice as Vivo's. And if anyone has problems with the Vivo's sharpening/exposure/contrast they can just tune it, Vivo has given everyone the controls for that since the X100 Ultra. An excellent feature that I hope all manufacturers utilize. I also hope we can just take shots and implement "styles" later on, like the Master Mode of Oppo, Leica Authentic of Xiaomi and Zeiss Natural of Vivo, and then change it to the Vibrant modes if desired. That'd be a great win for consumers i think.

I ultimately bought the Xiaomi 14 Ultra as I like to 'edit' but the Vivo X100 Pro used to sharpen images too. This is a double edged sword. Sharpened images are click and send, which is great for most people. Over sharpened images, well there's not much you can do on a phone without 'blur' ability software. Much as I dislike Apple, the iPhone's processing gets sharpness right, (so does my Xiaomi) though colours go awry on the iPhone. Less sharpening is better as it's easy to sharpen.

The processing on the X8 Ultra is actually very natural. The 12,5 mp images are a little to sharp, but selecting the higher res default 26 mp option frum the menu, the resulting images are not only more detailed but also have the right amount of sharpness, and just look very good. The colors are very good, I can send you full size images, including RAW's if you like to do your own assessment.

And yeah, I did say the X8 Ultra was a big improvement over the X7 Ultra, better optics for the most part and more mature processing, tho a little bit more artificial sadly.

Anonymous, 04 May 2025All of these ultras are pretty bad for zoom at night beyond their main focal lengths. How many... moreidk what you're even talking about

but let me start with the focal length thing. You dont choose random focal lengths, you choose focal lengths that YOUR hardware is the most capable of taking shots at. For example, You won't take 2.5x shots with the Find X8 Ultra because there's a 3x but on a Xiaomi 15 you would. You wouldn't take 4.1x shots on a Find X8 Ultra but on a Xiaomi 15 Ultra you would. The most important focal lengths are the native ones of the sensors and the 2x crops of those lenses. So for Vivo's 3.7x telephoto you'd have a 7.4x shot if you're trying to do a 2x crop.

Secondly, daytime pics are NOT the most important, they're the easiest to pull off and even the Oneplus 13 is superb at daytime shots. If you mostly take shots during the day use that phone, im sure you'd be extremely happy with it. The main issue occurs at night and during extreme hdr scenarios. At night/indoors, there's dim places alongside very bright places, thus even though taking a shot of the dark places is already challenging, the phone must balance it out with the bright light sources. A large chunk of my photos are taken indoors in different places with artificial lighting and a phone needs to be really good to be able to handle all that properly. The X200 Ultra is that type of phone. The Find X8 Ultra is superb as well in less dim situations, if it's dark it's not as great but if the lighting is good enough then the Find X8 Ultra and the X200 Ultra are the 2 best phones for photography, easily.

Either they would go for a 1/1.12" 35 mm cam one day OR they'll downgrade the UW cam to fit the 1 incher. I think they chose a very healthy compromise here. Due to the main cam being 35 mm the UW cam being good is even MORE important for this phone compared to ANY other phone.

Can anybody name a global phone that uses a 1'inch sensor? What I believe they're doing is protecting future sales as once you reach the one inch sensor size the limitations for the current phone form factor become harder and harder to implement and the common public is uninformed and don't really know the difference in specs and how it affects their device which allows manufacturers to just use advertising to sell their products instead of supplying us with better products.

Even if it comes to EU lands Vivo will steal charger from box and you must add 60 euros for original charger like xiaomi did.

How many people are going to be taking long range zoom at night anyway. Daytime pics are the important ones. What reviewers should focus more on is every focal length up to about 10x mostly in daylight (1x, 2x, 3x etc up to 10x). Beyond 10x or maybe 12xish. it starts getting not great for all of them. Basically they aren't really proper photos anymore after that imo

In day time, sure, it can go either way and is completely upto personal preference but at night, Oppo still hasn't found a way to balance it all out. I must say, it has improved significantly compared to last year's offering and is good enough to make it usable for 90% of people but look at ben's gadget reviews' samples and the night shots, they're still quite blurry.

You're entitled to your own opinion just as i am to mine but i urge you to take a second look at the samples. TechTablets has a new comparison as well. Go ahead and check em out.
