Google Pixel 11 Pro XL - Reviews and Specs
Pros
Cons
The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL holds an aggregate score of approximately 79.3%, indicating generally favorable reviews. Critics consistently praise its cameras, especially its still photography, telephoto performance, exposure and natural color rendering. The large display, polished Android experience and smooth everyday operation also receive positive attention. Gemini tools such as Rambler and Magic Capture add practical software and AI capabilities, although some features are regionally restricted. The Tensor G6 and GPU underperform in demanding games, while slow charging and reduced base RAM weaken the hardware proposition. With a reported $1,300 price and relatively modest upgrades, reviewers question its value against Samsung and Apple rivals.

Reviews for the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL

Pixel 11 Pro XL is a polished flagship that gets the basics right with its excellent cameras, stunning display, smooth everyday performance and genuinely useful AI features, making it a joy to live with. However, the Tensor G6 falls short for serious gaming, and charging speeds are terribly slow.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL represents Google’s largest smartphone that doesn’t fold reaching full maturity. The Rambler voice to text tool in particular is great, but UK customers should be irked to know many of the Gemini Intelligence features marketed are US-only at launch. Downsides compared to similarly priced competition are the GPU and gaming performance, which is straight trash, plus charging is still slow and there’s less RAM this year at 12GB in the base model.

The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL camera delivers a strong overall performance, with consistent results across both photo and video use cases. The device provides a pleasant and reliable rendering in most conditions, with strong exposure and color performance, stable autofocus and a good overall balance between texture preservation and noise reduction. Overall, the Pixel 11 Pro XL offers a well-rounded camera experience, with its strongest results coming from still photography, telephoto rendering and consistent color and exposure performance.

The Google Pixel 11 Pro XL delivers a strong overall selfie experience, with reliable results in both photo and video. The front camera generally provides accurate exposure with pleasant contrast on faces, while color rendering remains natural across most tested conditions. Detail levels are also fairly high in bright conditions, and autofocus is generally accurate and stable, making the camera reliable for everyday selfies and group shots.

Came out of the Made by Google event last week without any idea about the specs of the new Google Pixel 11 Pro XL? You're not alone. The announcement focused mainly on the user experience and the new software features on its latest Pixel devices, while the hardware mentions were far and few in between. Google says this faster chip also helps with computational photography, enabling the new Instant Night Sight and 120x Pro Zoom features (more on those later), as well as powering the Gemini Intelligence AI features on the phone.

Those who prioritise cameras above all will find few alternatives at this price that can match the Pixel 11 Pro XL; the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is better for night photography and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is superior in video recording, but neither achieve such a cohesive quality as the Pixel. If Google would just give up on developing its own silicon and fit its Pixels with Snapdragon chips, this would likely be one of the most appealing smartphones around.

The Google Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are not bad phones by any means, but they're also not anything particularly special. The upgrades Google has included do offer some enhancements compared to previous phones, but it also isn't enough to help the Pixel lineup catch up with some of its biggest rivals.

The Google Pixel 11 Pro family gives you a true choice of size without any compromise between the models. Camera hardware improvements are notable over the Pixel 10 Pro, and Magic Capture is one of the best camera features I've used on any phone to date. New Gemini features like Rambler are truly wonderful additions to the Android experience, and several other standout features mark a solid software release. But Pixel phones have been too expensive lately, and this year's $100+ price increase makes that worse.

There’s a lot to like about the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro XL. MediaTek’s M90 5G modem and the upgraded cameras are welcome improvements. So are the Pixel 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL’s brighter screens, and the Pixel 11’s slightly larger battery and faster wireless charging.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is finally official, and while it keeps the familiar design styling, there are a few cool improvements to durability and the camera over the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The signature camera bar is now all glass and houses a new ambient light, which will delicately notify you about missed notifications while the phone is lying screen down.

It has finally happened: the spiraling RAM prices have pushed Google to raise prices even further and the newly launched Pixel 11 Pro XL now costs $1,300, on par with Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra. And while previously Pixel phones were always the more affordable option, that is no longer the case.

Unfortunately, that’s about it in terms of tangible upgrades. Now granted, the Pixel 10 series was quite unimpressive, so there’s plenty of room to grow for the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL – even with a short list of upgrades, nailing my battery testing and delivering superior photos could be enough to earn a positive reception.
