Raising Your Kids to Lead

Raising Your Kids to Lead

Woman walking into Target holding her daughter's hand says;

"When you go to school and leave me, I feel sad!

It is not your kid's responsibility to fill you with joy.

To take the place of your spouse.

To make you feel wanted.

To make you feel loved.

It is your responsibility to be there for your kids.

To show them how to have integrity and ethics.

To show them how to lead.

To love and support them.

If you fill them with guilt and expectations, then all you are creating is a child who will always feel guilty.

A child who will never think they are enough.

A child who won't be able to do anything but please others.

A child who will always look to you for validation as opposed to validating themselves.

A child who won't be able to accomplish incredible things because they are afraid of leaving you behind.

A child, who years from now, will be sitting in therapy talking about you.

Show them to be independent.

Show them how to think for themselves.

Show them that love has to start from within.

Show them that you love them no matter where they go, near or far.
