A few late entries tonight, but first Florida proposing to utilize $291M (25%) of it's allocated BEAD funding to reach 102,591 eligible locations and CAIs. The technology mix is fiber (47%), LEO (25%), and HFC and LFW (both at 14%). For purposes of my awardee summaries, if a project is more than 80% one technology, then I assign it as the primary technology. Where no single technology reaches 80% of the project's locations, I assign the primary technology as "Mixed." #BEAD #RuralBroadband

“Sanborn’s trusted legacy makes them the right partner to scale space-based thermal intelligence across the U.S. Together, we’re equipping decision-makers with operational data they cannot get elsewhere.” – SatVu Co-founder and CEO, Anthony Baker. Our partnership with Sanborn goes beyond integration - it closes critical intelligence gaps that traditional satellites leave behind. Thermal intelligence delivers insights U.S. decision-makers need to act with confidence: ✅ Energy efficiency and urban heat loss patterns ✅ Activity inside industrial and strategic facilities ✅ Environmental changes shaping long-term resilience Through Sanborn’s established networks, SatVu is bringing this missing intelligence layer to the U.S. - supporting national security, infrastructure monitoring, and resilience against extreme heat. 📷: HOTSAT-1's thermal image of Austin, Texas. Look what I found in my basement storage room! This poor CD struggled to function in my CD drive even after careful cleaning and finally copied over to my laptop after multiple attempts. This is a video produced by #Caltrans for the Southern California Integrated GPS Network Unveiling Event in Glendale, CA on July 6th, 2001 ( https://lnkd.in/geU_fZHg ). This collaborative project from the beginning of the century proved that various agencies and organizations (ie #USGS #JPL #SIO #CSRC ) could work together efficiently, effectively, and come in under budget. #SCIGN led thee way for #PBO #NOAACORSNetwork and the #IGS SCIGN innovations such as the SCIGN Tall Radome, D3 Leveling Adapter and braced geodetic monuments are still used in CORS networks around the world today!

The Alaska BEAD Final Proposal was released this week and they are proposing to utilize 76% ($777M) of their BEAD allocation to serve their nearly 45k eligible locations with a mix of fiber (51%), LEO (32%), and wireless (13%) solutions. The data is still a bit of a work in progress with 4% of the locations lacking a technology code. Unsurprisingly, Alaska's cost per location is among the highest ($18,387) behind North Dakota's 301 eligible locations with only three of the proposed awardees offering any matching funds. #BEAD #RuralBroadband

🌊 Following a winter marked by intense storm activity, the SmartBay observatory was successfully redeployed, reaffirming its role in real-time ocean monitoring and marine research, and introducing new observational capabilities as part of ongoing technological advancements. 👉 In addition to the set of permanently deployed instruments, CTD, DO2, Fluorometer, ADCP, HDTV, hydrophone and the CytoSub and UVP6 installed last year, a second camera has now been mounted on a smaller, secondary observatory. 🧑💻 The data collected from SmartBay supports various EU projects, including Horizon Europe project ANERIS, which the Marine Institute participates in as an affiliate partner of EMSO ERIC. 🔍 Further details: https://lnkd.in/dNkMC35M Marine Institute SmartBay_ie ANERIS Project #SmartBay #GalwayBay #Ireland #MarineInstitute #EMSO #OceanData #OceanObservatory #ANERISProject

How to perform accurate Radon measurement on a short time basis with a user-friendly device ? Benjamin Holz has the answer !
Weekend science at home: I took our new AlphaS for a spin. I used diffusion mode to track room‑by‑room radon levels, then switched to flow mode to “sniff” suspicious spots — hello, basement corner I always suspected. Thanks to Wi‑Fi and the built‑in web interface, I could check live data between coffee and emails. What surprised me most was how the large measuring range and integrated pump make switching use cases ridiculously easy. Curious what AlphaS would find in your building? https://lnkd.in/eKn2URmd #Radon #AlphaS #IndoorAirQuality
