When my babies grew out of using baby bottles 🍼, I found someone in my family who could use them again. PHA4Pack: Turning CO2 into biopolymers for a sustainable future! Last Friday, almost exactly one year after the pilot plant's opening, the PHA4Pack project partners visited the CO2BioClean facility. It was inspiring to see how far we've come and the significant progress we've achieved together. Joining the visit were members from Provadis Hochschule University of Applied Sciences, BioVox GmbH, CO2BioClean GmbH, and Andreas Mahn from the project management agency Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. Since the pilot plant's commissioning, we have achieved important process improvements in producing biopolymers from CO2. We have also made great strides with concrete applications, for example in medical devices, which are being successfully driven forward by partners @Biovox, PAJUNK® and ASLAN (Fedrigoni Group) This project shows what's possible when science, innovation, and entrepreneurship work hand-in-hand to advance climate protection and reduce plastic waste. Same performance targets, lower footprint, ocean-positive brand story. We will scale extraction and processing on existing assets, tune to cosmetic specifications and validate in a variety of cosmetic applications to sustain the circularity process and sustainable ingredients policy at our customers. The program advances TRL-8 with industrial QA, enabling EU-ready adoption without reformulation once spec is met.
