Great to see strong collaboration in action at the site of the future South Tyneside College campus, as we welcomed Constructing Excellence in the North East and industry partners. The visit highlighted the progress being made on this exciting development, alongside valuable discussions around the role of #furthereducation in supporting skills, innovation and the needs of the construction sector. A particular highlight was hearing from Neil Bowen, , Head of STEM and Green Initiatives at South Tyneside College, who shared insight into how the new campus will benefit students, employers and the wider community. With thanks to Castle Construction for the dedicated site tour and for showcasing the work taking place. Don’t forget to sign up to our stakeholder bulletin for the latest updates on the project: https://lnkd.in/e8A7SA2j
It was great to welcome industry colleagues to South Shields last week, for a site visit showcasing the exciting transformation of the town centre. Hosted by CENE Innovation Group alongside Castle, the visit highlighted a flagship new-build project delivered in partnership between Tyne Coast College and South Tyneside Council. With support from the The North East Combined Authority, the Department for Education and UK Government, this development is playing a key role in the wider ambition to revitalise our high streets. It was fantastic to see the progress on site and to share insights into how collaboration is driving innovation across the region. A standout aspect of the project is its strong commitment to community engagement - building meaningful relationships with local schools, young people, and students at South Tyneside College and South Shields Marine School. As the project continues into 2026, this focus on skills, education, and community connection will only grow stronger. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a valuable and engaging visit. It was great to have Emily Kennedy, AICP, Maddy Kornhauser, and Benita Lily Cheng share their working experience in their respective fields in my Introduction to Urban Studies class at Borough of Manhattan Community College! Students really enjoyed learning about Emily, Maddy, and Lily's work in transportation planning, housing budget planning, and resiliency planning, as well as the wide range of potential career opportunities in urban planning. It was great to see them ask many thoughtful questions about the projects presented and the speakers’ career paths!
Thanks to David Seunglee Park, MCP for inviting me to speak with the Urban Studies class at Borough of Manhattan Community College. I enjoyed sharing TYLin's work with New York City Department of Transportation on building greenways in the Bronx and Queens, and discussing how these projects support safer, more connected communities. Great to connect with engaged students who live, work, and care deeply about making NYC a better place to live!

This video is a powerful reminder that modernization projects are as much about people and place as they are about buildings. Projects like Jefferson High School modernization go beyond facilities. They are about honoring history, strengthening community connection, and creating environments that support students today and generations to come. We’re grateful to be part of a team committed to carrying that legacy forward through thoughtful design and construction.
