Ardrossan Community Campus Supply Chain Engagement Event On Tuesday 9th June, Castle will be hosting a supply chain engagement event for our recently secured Ardrossan Community Campus project. This exciting development is a new-build educational and community facility, replacing both Ardrossan Academy and Winton Primary School. Castle is proud to be appointed onto this project by Morgan Sindall Construction, who are delivering the project for North Ayrshire Council via SCAPE Scotland. As part of our commitment to community benefits and social value, we are keen to engage with local suppliers and subcontractors to explore opportunities for collaboration on this project. The event will be held as a drop-in session at Ardrossan Civic Centre, with further details available in the attached leaflet. If you are interested in attending, please contact us at ardrossancc@castlebs.co.uk, including your company information as outlined in the event leaflet. We look forward to meeting you and discussing how we can work together. Richard Flynn Richard Farrel

Last night I attended my PlanBEE (Built Environment Education) graduation event to celebrate completing my higher apprenticeship. The past 2 years have been incredibly invaluable, i have had the opportunity to work with various construction companies and consultants, working alongside talented professionals on some exciting and complex projects. I would like to thank the sponsors and all of my dedicated mentors that have all played a part in my PlanBEE journey… Castle, Ryder Architecture, Wilson Gray Consulting Ltd, and Okana. I have learnt so much from each placement and it’s been a pleasure to work alongside so many amazing teams and gain hands on experience in many different specialisms. Special thanks to Raju Noor, Steve Logan and the rest of the teaching staff at PlanBEE (Built Environment Education) Gateshead College who have supported me in completing my HNC/HND in Modern Methods of Construction. I’m really looking forward to my next chapter in the construction industry at Castle as a trainee quantity surveyor🙂

We warmly welcomed Tyne Coast College bricklaying students to South Tyneside College's new campus development. The students visited the live construction site as part of their course to see, first-hand, how skills learned in the classroom are applied within a real working environment. Chris Meadowcroft, operations director at Castle, said: “It was a pleasure to host the students and to provide them with real-life experience on a project that will shape not only their futures but the tens of thousands of students that will attend the college for years to come. "Many of our project team and our specialist subcontractor, Labourn Construction, who hosted the students, have studied and trained at colleges at the outset of their careers. They understand the need to encourage the next generation in the construction industry and, with this in mind, wanted to make the site visit a special day for them, ensuring it was as informative and interesting as possible and that was reflected in the questions asked by the students and their feedback after the event.” Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eKdmhiDT

We are pleased to highlight a site visit planned for a Victorian listed building - built in 1882 for the South Shields Poor Law Union – which will now play a central role in the new South Tyneside College and South Shields Marine School. A classic example of preserving heritage while shaping the future of education and high street regeneration. The visit, on May 29, by members of G4C North East will be led jointly by Castle as Principal Contractor and Architect and Lead Designer, GSSArchitecture. It will focus on the building refurbishment with an opportunity for a short tour of the wider main campus development as part of the South Tyneside College relocation. This project is a partnership between Tyne Coast College and South Tyneside Council delivered by Castle, and funded by Tyne Coast College, The North East Combined Authority as part of North East Mayor Kim McGuinness' drive to revitalise high streets, the Department for Education and UK Government. Cyber security is paramount and we are pleased to report the IASME Consortium has issued Castle with a new Cyber Essentials Plus certificate. This is a UK government-backed certification that demonstrates an organisation has implemented strong, independently verified cyber security controls. Unlike the basic Cyber Essentials certification, the “Plus” level involves a hands-on technical audit carried out by an external assessor to validate that key systems are properly secured against common cyber threats. Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus demonstrates we take cyber security seriously and meet a recognised national standard. It provides reassurance to clients, partners and stakeholders that robust measures are in place to protect sensitive data and reduce the risk of cyber-attacks. From a commercial perspective, it strengthens trust, enhances our reputation and can be a requirement for working with certain clients - particularly within government or regulated sectors. It also helps internally by improving security awareness, reducing vulnerabilities and supporting overall risk management. Craig Muldoon Andrew Dawson Ben Fawcett Simon Groom Naomi Halliburton
What a night of celebration we had on Friday at the G4C North East Awards. Two of our rising stars project engineer, Megan Groom and project manager, Fraser Adamson, were both nominated for New Professional of The Year. We have watched them develop during their time with us and we are incredibly proud to have them as part of our growing team. It was a wonderful night, made all the more special, as Megan took joint first place in what the judges said was a very tough category. Megan and Fraser, are brilliant examples as to how continued investment in training, wellbeing and professional development has strengthened our culture and raised standards across the organisation. Castle sponsored the Mentor of the Year category at the awards and a big thank you to our design director, Matt Thomas, who presented the award on the night. Here at Castle we are getting excited for the G4C North East Awards which take place on Friday. Our rising stars Megan Groom and Fraser Adamson are shortlisted in the New Professional of the Year category and they take with them our very best wishes. Megan is a 24-year-old project engineer at Castle, where she has led technically complex M&E projects. Over the past 24 months, Megan has completed a Master of Science in Building Engineering at Leeds Beckett University, achieving a distinction in 2025. She also undertook a Level 6 Bachelor’s top-up degree which she completed in 2023. Megan pursued both degrees voluntarily to enhance her day-to-day project work. At just 26, Fraser is a project manager leading several high-profile contracts. His relationship-building skills have directly supported repeat business and to winning work. Fraser has maximised Castle’s mentoring culture, working closely with operations director, Shaun Powell FCIOB, BSc (Hons) while undertaking internal and external CPD and finishing his Level 6 NVQ in Construction Management, following the completion of his Construction Engineering and Project Management BSc (Hons) Degree in 2023. In parallel with his own development, he mentors PlanBEE (Built Environment Education) trainees, providing live site experience and leading educational visits for construction students at Gateshead College, demonstrating early leadership and commitment to industry development. The very best of luck to Fraser and Megan and all nominees! Craig Muldoon Andrew Dawson Tony Lister Richard Flynn Simon Groom Constructing Excellence in the North East Catriona Lingwood
We’re proud to share that Luke Smith, one of our team members here at Castle, has been awarded the CIBSE North East Apprenticeship Award. Luke completed his HNC in Building Services Engineering in July 2025 at Gateshead College, and his award was granted following an outstanding set of assignments. After being selected as his college’s Student of the Year, Luke’s work was reviewed by CIBSE, who confirmed it met the highest standard required for regional recognition. Luke, joined Castle in March 2022 and is currently an Intermediate Electrical Estimator. This achievement is a fantastic reflection of his hard work, commitment and professional development. Well done, Luke — a brilliant achievement and very well deserved. 👏 Craig Muldoon Andrew Dawson Richard Flynn Shaun Powell FCIOB, BSc (Hons) Simon Groom
