⚙️ DeepTech founders take on a different kind of challenge. Their work often starts in the lab, long before there’s a product, a customer, or even a clear market. At the NXTGN summer tour we discussed this difficulty with four startups from the #DeepTechHub ecosystem: Prefiro GmbH, AaviGen GmbH, Silvacx and Sensovo. They shared their challenges and experiences working at the intersection of science and entrepreneurship. Their key takeaways? 🔻 Turning deep research into real solutions means years of development, regulatory hurdles, and a constant need for funding. Especially for hardware development, there is a need for investing big and an improving access. 🔻 Our founders need trust: They are experts in their fields for a reason. #DeepTech not about moving fast, it’s about moving with precision and persistence. 🔻 The reward is worth it. To be successful in AI, we especially need startups. At #DemoDay we saw: Germany has got talented young researchers who are enthusiastic about transforming their ideas into business ventures. ✨ Last week, we celebrated the big finale of our nine months #AIFounderFellowship program. To honor our Fellows’ hard work and dedication, we put together a special agenda for them. We invited key players from the startup ecosystem who shared insights from their personal founding journeys. We also motivated experts to participate as jury members to vote on the best startup pitch. In addition, we were honored to have the Bundesministerium für Digitales und Staatsmodernisierung represented at the event: Thomas Jarzombek shared warm greetings in a video statement. Marco-Alexander Breit engaged in short discussions with each Fellowship team prior to their pitches. This underlinines the strong political support our program continues to receive. During the panel “Contrasting founder journeys” prominent speakers Julian Teicke (The Delta), Nicole Formica-Schiller (Pamanicor Health), Catherine Schreiber (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), Dr. Anna Güntner (eclarity.io) and Prof. Dr. Marc Drüner (eduBITES) discussed what’s essential for bringing a business venture to success. Most startup pitches I see on LinkedIn are software-only. Yesterday was refreshingly different. I attended the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition by Wuxi Huishan Economic Development Company, HETDZ and Choyon Technologies Deutschland GmbH, where 10 founders pitched their Pre-Seed startups. What I noticed immediately, most people pitching and in the jury were women - not as a diversity headline, but as an organic shift in who’s driving innovation today. (Weird that this is still something we notice – but it’s great to see it changing.) Even more inspiring, most startups weren’t just apps or AI tools. They were actual hardware + software combinations with complex technology behind them. It’s easy to get lost in the software hype. But events like this remind you, that innovation still often has weight and wires. And even without a specific focus, Greentech, Sustainability, and Healthtech dominated the stage. It’s good to see innovation shifting toward health-impact and sustainability, not just capital efficiency. For me, this event wasn’t about pitching investors – it was about seeing where innovation is going and connecting with people. And if this room was any indicator, the future looks more tangible, more sustainable, and more inclusive. That’s what makes networking events so valuable – they connect people and ideas that actually move things forward. We met so many great people and will definitely join AsiaBerlin Summit 2025 – for the community alone, which we met at this small Startup Competition.
