One small change that made a big difference in my English classroom is how we approach our Word of the Day. Instead of simply writing it on the board, I now ask my students to use it meaningfully and they write a sentence with it in their notebooks and share how it could fit into real-life communication. This tiny habit is helping words stick. Students don’t just learn vocabulary; they own it. Seeing them use new words confidently in their conversations and writing is the most rewarding part of my day. Sometimes, the simplest classroom practices lead to the strongest learning outcomes. #Teaching #EnglishTeacher #VocabularyBuilding #ClassroomStrategies

Must-Try Tip of the Week #3 💡 "Word Watch” Turn words into wins and get everyone involved. ✅ How it works: - Choose 10 new words or phrases for the lesson (adjust the number based on your group’s level). - Display them clearly — on the board, wall, or cards — in English or the target language, depending on your focus. - At the start of the lesson, tell pupils these are the words they’ll need to remember. - Bonus: make it a Class Challenge! (See last week's post.) - At the end (could be your plenary), ask 10 different pupils to correctly translate one word each — no repeats! 🎯 Why it works: -Keeps learners focused throughout the lesson -Provides a quick, informal assessment -Builds a sense of shared achievement -Encourages peer accountability and celebration ✨ Progress you can see fuels confidence you can’t measure. 🔗 Want more practical, teacher-powered ideas? 💬 Grammar Tip of the Day Do you know the difference between “say” and “tell”? 🗣 Say → we use it when we focus on the words. ✅ She said hello. ❌ She said me hello. 💬 Tell → we use it when we focus on the listener. ✅ She told me a story. ❌ She told that she was tired. 🧠 Quick rule: 👉 Say = words 👉 Tell = listener Do your colleagues mix these up too? 😄 At Larnis Academy, we help learners feel confident with these small—but important—details that make your English sound natural. 📘 Learn more or try a lesson here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dKKN6ueR

“Big, scary words don’t mean much if nobody understands them.” That line came from a group of elementary students who helped create their school’s Profile of a Learner. In one sentence, they named a truth every communicator (and every leader) needs to hear. Clarity isn’t simplification. Clarity is belonging. When we write, speak, or design in plain language, we create space for everyone to see themselves in the story. Students, families, staff, and community, alike. 🎒 Read the full story: When Learners Lead the Story → https://lnkd.in/etrVQCfW 🧭 Explore our Portrait Translation Toolkit → https://lnkd.in/e_tZb46Z

Key Guidelines for Teachers in developing EFL students' vocabulary acquisition💡 Integrate synonyms and antonyms with these conditions :- 1) Move Beyond Lists: Don't just give students lists of synonyms and antonyms. Focus on function; when and why a particular synonym or antonym is used. 2) Emphasize Connotation: A major benefit of teaching synonyms is demonstrating that no two words mean exactly the same thing. Discuss whether a word has a positive, negative, or neutral connotation (e.g., cheap vs. affordable). 3) Encourage Active Use: Ensure that the activities culminate in students using the vocabulary in speaking or writing tasks, not just identifying them.
