Every educator working in an academic context knows this scenario well. A complex text, a room full of learners at different levels, and not enough time to give each one the individual support they need to actually get through it, let alone develop the critical thinking skills that academic reading demands. At the Eaquals International Conference in Malta, @Duygu Ozler explored how AI tools are opening up new possibilities in this space, looking at practical strategies for teaching academic reading alongside a grounded examination of what AI can realistically offer educators and learners today. The session covered adaptive platforms that respond to where each learner is, summarisation tools that help scaffold complex texts, and personalised feedback systems that support learners in building comprehension and autonomy at their own pace. One of the biggest shifts happening in education right now is this: Schools are no longer judged only by results. Increasingly, they are judged by the experience they provide. Parents, students, and educational partners are asking questions like: • How consistent is the learning experience? • How are students supported? • How are teachers developed? • How transparent are systems and communication? • How does the institution know quality is being maintained over time? This is one reason quality assurance and accreditation are becoming more central to education globally. Not simply as external recognition. But as structured ways for institutions to reflect, strengthen systems, and continuously improve.
