Without an ambitious and forward‑looking national strategy, resilient, high‑quality mobile connectivity across the UK will remain out of reach. As an industry, we welcome last week’s Mobile Market Review and will work together to deliver a comprehensive, coordinated response to the Government’s call for evidence. But the priority must now shift from gathering yet more evidence to taking meaningful action. We remain committed to partnering with Government to unlock investment, accelerate rollout, and deliver the secure connectivity that communities and businesses across Britain deserve. Read more about why urgent, coordinated action is essential 👇 https://lnkd.in/e9FYnBBX #MobileConnectivity #DigitalInfrastructure #Telecoms #5G #Investment #UKGrowth

I’ve long called the demands of the telecom incumbents in Europe #TelcoWelfare because they seem to believe they have a god given right to high or even guaranteed returns. But the reality is they have strong returns compared to almost any other sector and every objective comparison like the one below shows it. I’ve also argued that their lobbyists at EU level are completely #Disconnected from the business. There have been days where lobbyists plead poverty cap in hand while investor days and company reports claim huge growth and profits. I’ve also compared telecoms to almost all other sectors and we see that they are more profitable. Other sectors don’t go asking for guaranteed returns though. Here, again, “analysis indicates that the EU telecom sector has, on average, earned positive returns over the past decade and maintained one of the highest dividend-payout ratios in the stock market.” Yet another report calls them out. So we shouldn’t be making EU policy based on misinformation or misleading demands. https://lnkd.in/egdmcmSc EU Digital & Tech CCIA Europe #CCIAeurope #digitalEU #connectivity #competitiveness

IT teams in city and county offices are stretched thin, and old phone systems only add to the pressure. VoIP gives agencies a setup that is easier to manage, backed by specialists, and far more reliable for day-to-day operations. This article explores why so many local governments are making the switch and what it means for IT staff on the ground. Over the past decade, broadbands like Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications have made progress in closing the digital divide. According to the Pew Research Center, 78% of Americans now subscribe to high-speed internet at home—up from 63% in 2016. However, lower-income households are still less likely to have reliable internet at home, limiting opportunities for work, education and connection. At Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications, we believe connectivity should be affordable for everyone. Get connected: https://lnkd.in/g7RGCBHd.

Shutting down old networks always sounds technical, but it’s really a statement of priorities. I found the news from Namibia interesting: starting in 2026, the country plans a gradual shutdown of 2G and 3G networks as it shifts to newer and satellite-based connectivity. It’s a deliberate move away from maintaining aging systems and toward concentrating investment where long-term capacity actually sits. 📡 At the same time, the challenges are hard to ignore. Infrastructure costs are high, and device affordability will likely decide how inclusive this transition really becomes. Modern networks only matter if people can realistically use them. 📱 I’ll be watching how this plays out. Done right, this could become a reference point for how countries modernize connectivity without dragging legacy systems along indefinitely. 💬 How do you think governments should balance long-term network upgrades with affordability and access during transitions like this? #Connectivity #DigitalTransformation #5G #Broadband #Telecom #FutureNetworks

“The future of local isn’t centralized — it’s coordinated” Centralization extracts value. Fragmentation destroys it. The Local Internet sits in between: • coordinated • interoperable • locally grounded National → Local → National. That’s how real economies work. Now the internet can too. #FutureOfLocal #SystemsDesign #DigitalEconomy
