More of you are building with Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code. Coding agents and git are just how developers work. But those agents didn’t know the first thing about how Workato recipes work. They’d guess at datapill syntax, trip over schema mismatches, and you’d end up spending a lot of time correcting the agent. So we built the toolkit we wished existed. It’s called wk — a single-binary CLI that pulls, pushes, diffs, and validates recipes straight from your terminal. Pair it with a recipe visualizer that turns any recipe into a graph you can actually read, right inside VS Code or Cursor. And we shipped recipe skills, connector-specific knowledge packs so your agent actually knows our syntax instead of hallucinating it. All open source. All on GitHub under workato-devs. Install with Homebrew or Scoop. There’s even a full sample app, Dewy Resort, a fictional hotel with guest- and staff-facing agents, built entirely on Workato Enterprise MCP, if you want to see it all click together. The combination of code where it makes sense and task-specific MCP tools backed by enterprise orchestration is super productive, reliable, and token-efficient. Allison Johnson, Director of Americas Technology Partners, AWS, said, "Moving AI from pilot to production is a top priority for enterprises today, and success depends on having the right orchestration foundation in place. Our deepened collaboration with Workato means customers can deploy AI agents faster, with the governed access to data and systems they need to drive measurable business results across their organisation." The agreement enables Workato and AWS to more closely align their engineering, sales, and marketing teams to help mutual customers deploy AI agents with governed execution, securely across business-critical applications and data sources. Adam Seligman, Chief Technology Officer, Workato, said, "With AWS, we're building the enterprise control and execution plane that lets AI agents operate across the full complexity of an enterprise. Access to the right data, processes, business context, and guardrails. That's what makes agentic AI actually work outside the lab." The aibl take: Moving AI from pilot to production keeps being described as the critical challenge for enterprises, and it keeps being true. The gap is not model capability or ambition. It is the orchestration layer that allows AI agents to operate across the full complexity of an enterprise environment, with governed access to the right data, the right processes, and the guardrails that make autonomous action safe enough to sanction at scale. Most AI pilots work in controlled conditions with clean data and a narrow scope. Production means operating across finance, HR, IT, sales, and customer experience simultaneously, with different data sources, different permission models, and different consequences when something goes wrong. For mid-market technology leaders whose AI agents are performing well in isolation but struggling to scale across the business, that orchestration problem is almost always what is actually blocking progress, and it deserves more direct investment than most organisations are currently giving it. Vijay Tella shared thisDarryl's breakdown of the seven phases highlights something I’m seeing play out in real time: progress in AI isn’t linear. It is gated by architecture. Many organizations have momentum in the early phases, but the shift he describes around Phase 5 is where things fundamentally change. It’s the point where systems stop being manually stitched together and start compounding - learning, adapting, and extending themselves based on real outcomes. What holds teams back isn’t the models or their reasoning power. It is the lack of a clear way to organize the growing mix of agents, data, and workflows into something that can operate as a system rather than a collection of parts. That’s where a true control and action plane becomes essential - providing both the coordination layer and the execution backbone to move deliberately through these stages, not just accumulate tools. Curious where others see themselves along this curve.Vijay Tella shared thisMost enterprise AI strategies I see are not strategies. They are procurement. A deployed language model, by itself, unlocks roughly 3% of the capability actually available to an enterprise today. The other 93% sits on the other side of an architecture problem, not a model problem. Across every industry I see, the pattern is identical. Seven phases of agent maturity. Each one unlocks something the previous phase physically could not do: Isolated. Connected. Active. Contextual. Structural. Adaptive. Autonomous. The phase that matters is Phase 5. Before it, humans are wiring the system. After it, the system is wiring itself. Every outcome flows back in as training signal. The moat widens every quarter without a single new hire. Most boards have not yet understood that this is where competitive separation happens. By the time it shows up in a 10-K, the gap is already structural. This is why “we piloted GenAI” and “we have an AI strategy” are not the same sentence. One is a tool. The other is an operating system. The companies that understand the difference in 2026 will be uncatchable by 2028. The rest will spend the next three years integrating chatbots and wondering where the ROI went. Most companies treat these as tradeoffs. Our BT team just launched License Genie internally at Workato to see if we could solve both. Today, it's generally available for all Workato customers. It's an AI agent that finds underused licenses, talks directly with employees to understand what they actually need, and takes action (only after approval). Instead of just pulling licenses, it finds the right fit by right-sizing tiers, recommending alternatives, keeping people productive. In under 30 days, it's already identified $1.64M in optimization opportunities across more than half of our SaaS spend. Early days, but the results are promising. Vijay Tella shared thisEvery company knows there’s waste in their SaaS spend. Few know how much or how to fix it. It usually comes down to duplicate tools, underused licenses, and software no one really needs anymore. Now imagine dropping a secure, autonomous agent into your environment and pointing it at your SaaS contracts, your access provisioning system (Okta, etc.), and your app stack. It connects to each app, understands how employees are actually using it, and DMs them to figure out what they actually need. From there, it right-sizes licenses, politely suggests alternatives when a full license isn’t necessary, and does it all with approvals and a complete audit trail. No big cleanup project. Just continuous optimization running in the background. We built this at Workato. It’s called License Genie. Before this, we had a couple of team members Marjoe Infante and Benny Tan trying to track usage across ~240 apps and 1200 employees. It was a thankless and essentially impossible job. Today, they focus on more strategic questions around our app stack and agent security. Before making it generally available, we deployed it internally. In under 30 days, it optimized $1.64M in app spend across a little more than half of our SaaS footprint by aligning licenses to actual usage. Companies have always overpaid for software. Now, a powerful, connected agent can continuously identify and eliminate that waste in the background. It’s worth taking a look. Being invited to be part of that group, alongside operators I deeply admire, is not something I take lightly. Vijay Tella liked thisVijay Tella liked thisThe past few weeks in the Bay Area have given me a different perspective, both professionally and personally. I was here for work, covering a client event, onboarding a new team member and meeting new charity partners. But this trip was also about helping my daughter move here to start her one year internship. I’ve been to the Bay Area many, many times for work, but usually it has been a familiar routine: airport, office, hotel and back to the airport. This time, I had the privilege of staying over the weekends and actually getting to know the city and meeting friends that I have not been connecting with in the last few years. And of course, watching my daughter set up her life in a new country brought a whole different set of emotions. Is she going to be safe? Will she look after herself? Will she eat properly? Will she make new friends? Will she know what to do when things don’t go according to plan? A thousand questions crossed my mind. But then I watched her. She figured things out. She planned her new life with a group of friends. She navigated a new city, made decisions and seemed to take it all in her stride. And I realised, perhaps I worry a little too much. She is 21 !!! 🤣 There comes a stage as parents when our job is no longer to hold their hands through everything, but to slowly let go and give them the space to grow, make their own decisions, experience discomfort, make mistakes and discover who they want to become. I’m grateful that the National University of Singapore gives students opportunities like this, to step outside their comfort zones, experience another part of the world and learn in ways that a classroom simply cannot teach. I hope she gets inspired by the people she meets here, learns from the experiences that come her way and perhaps creates something of her own along the way. And as for me, I’ll continue to do what Asian parents do best, worry about them all the time. 😂 But hopefully, alongside the worrying, I can also remember to trust them, encourage them to be independent, kind and responsible, and most importantly, let them enjoy this wonderful age of discovery. Sometimes, letting go is one of the hardest parts of parenting. And perhaps, one of the most rewarding too. ❤️

Vijay Tella liked thisVijay Tella liked thisWorkato just opened its third AI Collaboration Hub, and it landed in Hyderabad. The premise is simple. Customers, global system integrator partners, and Workato's own engineers sit in the same room and build agentic workflows against live enterprise systems, instead of trading documents and waiting on roadmaps. That matters because of where enterprise AI keeps dying. McKinsey's State of AI survey found only 39% of respondents can attribute any EBIT impact to AI, and most of those report less than 5%. The blocker is rarely the model. It is the last mile into legacy ERP, regulated data, and multi-cloud estates with governance attached. Workato has been in India since 2022 and now has more than 200 employees across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Executives from Persistent Systems and Tech Mahindra both spoke to the co-build model in the announcement.

Halfway through a 16-hour flight to Singapore a few weeks ago, I finally had time to test our new AIRO MCP product. AIRO is an AI-powered solution architect that builds Workato assets from natural language. You don't need to know how to build in Workato, you just have to describe what you want. This is a request I hear from many customers. As a new beekeeper, I have IoT sensors on my hive. I fired up Codex and started vibe coding with AIRO MCP, just a few sentences describing what I wanted. In 45 minutes, it built a connector to the BroodMinder cloud platform, 4 working recipes, and a fully functional MCP server. I hooked that server up to Claude and asked for a hive health analysis. It nailed it, pulling live sensor data and breaking down the results. Under an hour. At 30,000 ft. Zero code from me. AIRO MCP is available today.
