S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisEnjoyed speaking to over 90 Real Estate Professionals for the Northside Division of MIBOR in Indianapolis on last week. We discuss how Real Estate Professionals can improve their Emotional Intelligence in an AI world by understanding how people are wired.
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisI am looking forward to speaking tomorrow in Indianapolis to Real Estate Professionals about Emotional Intelligence. In a world where AI is taking over, there is still an essential component of human connection that is vital in our world. I can’t wait to share how professionals can significantly elevate their work by going all in on seeing and valuing people for lasting relationships.
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisThe teams that give the most aren't the ones with the best perks, but rather the ones with the clearest purpose. Here's what I've learned from working with teams across churches, businesses, and organizations: People disengage because they can't see why the work matters, instead of the work being hard. When a leader doesn't clarify the why, people fill the gap with their own answer. Sometimes that answer is: 👉🏾 "This is just a job." 👉🏾 "Nobody notices what I contribute." 👉🏾 "The mission sounds good on paper, but it doesn't feel real." Purpose isn't just a statement on a website. It's something a leader has to make real in everyday conversations, the decisions, and the way they talk about the work. The most powerful thing you can do as a leader this week: Connect someone on your team to the why behind their work. Eliminate the task work culture and provide real meaning and value to their work. Instead of saying, “finish the report…” Try "here's who this helps, here's why it matters, here's how your contribution fits." One conversation like that will do more for engagement than any task-oriented check-in. When did your leader make the work feel meaningful to you, and what did they say?
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisOne of the hardest things a leader can do is stay steady when someone on their team is working against them. Most leaders avoid it or react to it. Neither works. This week's High-Trust Leader is a practical step-by-step guide for leading the team member who is pushing back against you. Link in the comments.
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisI want to tell you about something I'm building. It's called ColorSync Leadership. It's a program I facilitate, grounded in the research of psychologist Dr. Taylor Hartman, that helps leaders and teams understand what drives the people around them. This isn’t surface-level personality typing or your standard "you're an introvert, they're an extrovert." This goes deeper into the core motives that shape how people think, lead, relate, and commit to their work. And it starts with you as a child. When a team goes through ColorSync together, they are equipped to understand each other better and are able to create space for everyone to show up fully as themselves, creating intentional cohesion and trust. 👉🏾 People no longer misread each other and dive into unnecessary conflict. 👉🏾 Leaders stop managing behavior and start understanding people. 👉🏾 Teams stop performing unity and start building it. I'm opening this up for teams and organizations this quarter, as a workshop, a team session, or integrated into a broader coaching engagement. If you lead a team that could use more trust, clarity, and genuine alignment, this was built for you. Send me a DM and let's talk about what this could look like for your team.
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisThe team had been together for five years. But there was an invisible wall between them. They were professional, polite, and functional. The pastor who led them expressed how aspirational they were as a team to accomplish something great, but felt stuck. When I came in to work with the team, I didn't start with a communication framework or a strategic planning tool. I started with one question for each person: "What drives you, and does this team know it?" The answers were REVEALING. One person had been silently carrying a sense of being invisible for two years. Another had never told anyone why this particular work mattered so deeply to him. Another had been misread as cold and distant, when they were actually processing deeply. By the end of our time together, there was new clarity and alignment. Not because I gave them tools, but because I created space for conversations they deeply needed but had never had. Ultimately, I guided them on a journey to seeing and valuing one another. When they felt seen and given permission to show up fully, their work shifted, and trust increased. That's the work I do. And I've never seen a team come out of it unchanged. What conversation does your team need to have, but is unawareingly avoiding it?
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisTrust on a team cannot be limited to one-time team-building activities. Trust is developed in the investment of relationship and understanding. Team-building creates shared experience. Understanding creates shared meaning. You can go through an escape room together and still not know what actually matters to the person sitting next to you. Real trust is built when people feel known, not just liked. When your team members know: 👉🏾 Why each person shows up the way they do 👉🏾 What drives the person next to them 👉🏾 What matters most to the people they work alongside every day ...conflict becomes easier to navigate, collaboration becomes more natural, and commitment to the work deepens. This is why the most important investment a leader can make isn't in a new system or strategy, but in building a team that genuinely understands one another. Understanding isn't soft; it's one of the most strategic things a leader can create. What does your team actually know about what drives each other?
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisMost Leaders Are Aware of The Dysfunction Their Teams Are Experiencing But Often Don’t Know Where To Start… In this week’s edition of The High-Trust Leader, I walk you through five moves that can turn a struggling team around into a trusting and aligned team. If you apply these moves in order, you will develop a team who feel seen and valued, resulting in them giving their best toward meaningful work. Link in the comments👇🏾
-
S. Eliot Brooks III shared thisWhat if your team already has everything it needs, and the missing piece is understanding? I'm Eliot Brooks, a leadership coach who helps leaders and teams build trust by understanding what actually drives the people around them. My work is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: 👉🏾 “When People Feel Seen And Valued, They Give Their Best Toward Meaningful Work.” That is my why. Most leadership problems are human skill problems where understanding and connecting with people isn’t a priority. Relationship is the Leadership Key that unlocks the best in people. I work with HR leaders, Executives, and Pastors… People who lead people and want to do it better. This month, I have a few open spots for 1:1 coaching. If you're leading a team and it feels like they are disconnected or misaligned in their performance, trust, alignment, culture… Let's Talk. Send me a DM, or book a free 30-minute call: [LINK IN COMMENTS] What's the biggest challenge you're navigating with your team right now?

S. Eliot Brooks III liked thisS. Eliot Brooks III liked thisI'm excited to officially partner with Premiere Speakers Bureau to bring Clarity to more stages in 2026. If you’re a meeting planner or association executive looking for a keynote on leadership, culture, burnout, employee engagement, or building extraordinary teams, Premiere is where you can find me. At the core of every keynote is a simple belief: The greatest threat to our ability to meet the moment and perform at the highest level is not a lack of talent, intelligence, or strategy. It’s our inability to embrace the discipline of silence. We are currently living in the "Age of Noise." Noise from endless meetings, constant notifications, reactive leadership, competing priorities, and from AI tools that promised simplicity but often created more complexity. Noise from overwhelmed teams trying to move faster without ever slowing down enough to think. And when leaders feel the pressure of all that noise, they naturally respond by adding more. More urgency. More communication. More meetings. More complexity. But the best leaders understand something different. Their job is to deploy the highest version of themselves and their teams into the moments that matter most. And you cannot do that from a place of noise. You can only do it from a place of clarity. That kind of clarity only comes from careful thought, mindful reflection, and the discipline to step away long enough to truly think. That’s why my work centers on helping leaders cut through the noise and build organizations grounded in clarity, focus, and simplicity. Because when leaders get clear, teams perform differently. Trust increases. Execution sharpens. Engagement rises. And ordinary teams begin producing extraordinary results. Huge thanks again to the Premiere Speakers Bureau team for the partnership and belief in the mission. If you have an event coming up, reach out to Premiere or send me a DM. Let’s build something your audience can put to work the very next day. https://lnkd.in/ecYApUjx #LeadWithClarity #Leadership

Took a minute to capture this moment with kimberly white-jenkins and Dan Manuel after facilitating Generations at Work—the inaugural course for the International Union, UAW-Chrysler EAP Specialist Recertification Program, hosted by Wayne State University's Office of Partnerships and Workforce Development. EAP Specialists play such an important role—helping UAW members and their families access the support they need to thrive. When we asked what workplace policies benefit all generations, one clear answer emerged: the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Older workers said they’re grateful younger dads can now take time off to be with their families—something they wish they could’ve done. That’s a generational win: flexibility that supports caring for others and ourselves. A culture where caregiving—whether for a child, a parent, or your own health—isn’t a crisis but a fact of life. That’s what it means to expand the pie—creating solutions that work for everyone. #GenerationalInclusion #Gentelligence #UAW #WorkforceDevelopment #EAP #FutureOfWork #ExpandThePie

Most education and nonprofit initiatives don’t fail because of bad ideas. They fail because strategy stops at vision. Too often, organizations invest in programs without the systems to sustain them—clear outcomes, funding alignment, operational capacity, or evaluation built in from the start. The result is burnout, stalled impact, and good work that never scales. At EDU Global Consulting, we work with institutions and mission-driven organizations to close that gap. Our focus is on translating equity-centered vision into programs that are fundable, measurable, and operationally sound—from curriculum and program design to grant readiness and evaluation. Equity isn’t just a value statement. It has to show up in how programs are designed, resourced, and sustained. This page will share practical insights from the field—what works, what breaks, and how organizations can build systems that last. Follow along as we explore education strategy that moves beyond intention to impact. EDUGLOBALCONSULTING.com

Over the years I’ve learned that the people inside a system ARE the system. Real, sustained transformation happens when individuals possess the capacities that allow them to co-create the change they seek. In my latest blog I highlight seven human developmental capacities that drive systems change, from self-awareness and self-direction, to a predisposition to collaborate. Change flows and organizations evolve through people first. The link is in the comments. Eager to hear your thoughts! #regenerativesystems #leadership #natureascoach

Throwback Thursday | Building Student Resilience Through Mindset Last year, I had the opportunity to serve as the Keynote Speaker at Building 21 High School, where the focus extended far beyond a single talk. From partnering with school leadership, to engaging educators, to spending intentional time with students after the keynote, this work centered on equipping young people with practical mindset tools that support resilience, confidence, and long-term success. I don’t approach school engagements as one-off moments of inspiration. My work is grounded in a mindset framework I developed to help students better understand themselves, regulate emotions, and see possibility beyond present challenges. Tomorrow, I continue this work through a 90-minute workshop focused on mindset and mental health as a pathway to student resilience and success—because sustainable impact in schools requires both strategy and structure, not just motivation. For school leaders seeking programming that aligns with student well-being, social-emotional development, and academic confidence, this work is designed to meet students where they are and support the outcomes schools care about most. 💬 How are you currently supporting student resilience and mindset development in your school community? #StudentResilience #SchoolLeadership #YouthMentalHealth #MindsetEducation #EducationalLeadership

Week 1 — Busy ≠ Aligned Most nonprofit leaders are struggling, not because of a lack of effort, commitment, or care. They struggle because clarity breaks down under pressure. Everyone is busy. Boards are engaged. Programs are active. Metrics exist. And yet decisions feel harder than they should. Busy does not mean aligned.

I think this applies to your Board of Directors as well. Developing healthy and authentic relationships with your governance leaders is key to effective leadership. It also sets the tone for the rest of the organization. It screams: We value people and relationships! All business is people business, and this is especially true with nonprofit businesses. Everything we do in this sector is about connecting with people. It turns out, this is the best way to recruit and vet potential board members too.
