We were excited to welcome teachers from across Idaho and Central New York to the first Chip Camp for Teachers, with day one held at our Micron Technology Boise headquarters. During the rest of this 3.5 day program, these teachers will receive continued professional development at Boise State University to learn more about the semiconductor industry and how to teach students about careers in STEM fields. This program is a collaboration with many partners, including: Microelectronics Education and Research Center and Boise State University, Idaho Workforce Development Council, many Idaho schools, and several school districts from Central New York (OCM BOCES and CITI BOCES) that serve students in the areas surrounding Syracuse. To all of the teachers, thank you for joining us in Boise! We hope you return to your home communities with refreshed insights into the future opportunities your students may pursue in the growing semiconductor industry.

There are better options:    •   “I hope this email finds you somewhere between meetings and meltdown.”    •   “I hope this email doesn’t ruin your day—but it might.”    •   Or, revolutionary idea: just get to the point.

Younger Career Self Lesson #3. Early on, I thought leadership meant having the answers. Over time, it has become clear to me that insight and greater impact often comes from simply creating space for others to speak and share. I know it is really hard not to jump into a conversation sometimes - naturally, we start formulating a response or assume we know what someone will say before the other person even finishes. To harness the power of diverse ideas and perspectives, the most impactful thing we can do is slow down and listen with intention. Listening isn’t passive—it’s an active choice with powerful outcomes. It creates connection, surfaces perspectives we might have missed, and helps us understand before acting.   Intentionally create opportunities to listen by soliciting input and seeking feedback from others even when you don’t have to. Consider the voice of the employee, the customer, your upstream and downstream partners. Great ideas don’t always raise their hand, so we need to create the space for people to speak up.   If I could offer one piece of advice—and this particular lesson isn’t just for my younger self but also serves as a reminder for my current and future self: Listen. 🌱 Leadership is not about doing more. It’s about doing what matters—with intention. Over the years, I’ve learned that the most impactful leaders aren’t the loudest in the room or the busiest on the calendar. They’re the ones who lead with intent—with clarity, courage, and care. Leading with intent means showing up on purpose. It’s about aligning what you believe with how you behave. It’s about choosing presence over performance. And it’s about making sure your team doesn’t just hit targets—but feels seen and valued along the way.
