I am honored to highlight the meaningful work happening in Dallas, Texas. It is vital that we do not price ourselves or our children out of life. Housing, particularly single-family homes, should not be treated as financial assets. They should be for shelter, for families, and recognised as a human right. The same goes for education and health, which should be accessible to everyone, as should a universal income. When housing is treated as a commodity, it drives inequality and forces families to divert income away from learning, creativity, and innovation just to survive. Children inherit debt or are locked out of opportunities, and communities lose the stability that comes from secure homes. Free access to education and healthcare allows people to develop their talents and contribute fully to society without being held back by cost. A universal income removes the stress of survival, giving people the freedom to take risks, start businesses, create art, pursue sports, and develop skills that benefit everyone. This does not diminish financial markets or the economy; it strengthens them. Thriving digital and financial markets would be built on real innovation rather than desperation. Entrepreneurship and creative industries would flourish, sports would grow, and television could shift from short, attention-depleting content to longer form films, documentaries, educational programs, and stories that expand the mind. When basic needs are secured, human potential can be realised. People can think, learn, create, and contribute rather than just survive. By treating housing, education, health, and income as rights rather than privileges, society becomes more equitable, innovative, and capable of extraordinary cultural and economic growth.

Many educators assume district group life is 'enough.' It rarely is—and underwriting can favor teachers more than they realize, especially early-career. Most districts offer 1–3x salary as group life, yet family needs commonly run 7–10x. For K‐12 and higher‐ed, a 20–30‐year level term policy often aligns with mortgage, dependent care, and student loan timelines. Underwriting is typically favorable for educators 🎓; preferred rates are common. Consider riders: waiver of premium (disability), child term, and guaranteed insurability. Strategy: coordinate term coverage with survivor pension elections, 403(b) savings, and district LTD. Build a coverage ladder (e.g., 30/20/10‐year terms) to match declining obligations. For tenured faculty and private‐school owners, limited permanent coverage can provide liquidity for sabbaticals or special‐needs planning while maintaining portability between institutions. Review beneficiaries, guardianship, and optional survivor benefits annually. Your kids’ education is not more important than your independence. Many parents feel a deep obligation to fund college completely. But retirement is a 20 to 30 year runway, and there are limited ways to fund it. Kids can borrow for school. They can earn scholarships. They can work part-time. There are multiple paths. There is no loan for retirement. If funding 100 percent of college jeopardizes your ability to retire securely, the burden may shift back to your children later in life in a different way. It comes down to sheer practicality and options available to you. Imagine sitting with your 22-year-old child explaining why you need financial support at 75 because you prioritized tuition over your own stability. Which scenario ultimately creates more pressure? Love includes boundaries. Planning includes trade-offs. Educational only. Not financial advice.

The biggest financial mistake parents make isn't choosing the wrong investment. It's assuming "we'll figure it out later." I've watched it happen repeatedly: • Genuine love for their child • Zero clear plan • Good income School fees handled year to year. College? "We'll manage when the time comes." Then reality hits. Fees rise faster than salaries. Last-minute loans appear. Dreams quietly get resized. Not because parents didn't care. Because planning was postponed. Here's what changes everything when started early: • Mutual funds for growth • PPF or Sukanya for certainty • SIPs compounding over 15 - 18 years • Clear separation between insurance and investments None of this feels urgent at first. That's exactly why it works. Families who plan early make choices from confidence. Families who delay make choices from panic. If you want your child to chase opportunities freely someday, give them something powerful today: Preparation. Quiet, boring, consistent preparation. That's real parental leadership.

These lessons build confidence, discipline, and responsibility—skills that go far beyond finances and shape how children plan, decide, and set goals as they grow. A child who understands money early is better prepared to avoid debt traps, manage opportunities, and think long-term. In a world where financial pressure affects families and communities, teaching children about money is no longer optional—it’s essential. Schools, parents, and mentors all have a role to play in raising a generation that is financially aware and empowered. Early financial education helps children grow into adults who can create value, build stability, and contribute positively to society. When we teach children how to manage money, we are investing in a more secure and resilient future for all.
