Lessons Learned from Trying Different Time-Saving Strategies (aka: The not-so-glamorous truth behind my content workflow) When I first started creating content consistently, I was drowning in “expert” advice. ➸ Try batching weekly. ➸ Do it daily, first thing in the morning. ➸ Use the Pomodoro method. ➸ Plan quarterly in advance, by moon cycle (okay, not that last one, but you get the vibe). And yes, I tried a few of these. Spoiler: some of them absolutely did not work for me. Weekly batching? That one had me overwhelmed and over-caffeinated by Wednesday. It felt like being stuck in content purgatory with no exit. Pomodoro technique? Cute in theory. But those little breaks would just interrupt my creative flow. I'd get into the zone and then… beep beep, time for a break. Nope. So, what did work? ★ Monthly batching. I sit down once a month, map everything out using my content calendar template (you’ll find it in my featured section), and that’s it. Done. I can breathe. I feel like a human again. And I follow a content mix that keeps me sane and my audience engaged: ▸ 70% educational ▸ 20% personal stories ▸ 10% promotional But the biggest lesson of all? ★“Eat the frog.” Start with the hardest thing first for me, that’s usually planning the monthly content pillars. Once that’s out of the way, everything else feels easier. So if you’re stuck in strategy land trying to find your perfect system, experiment, yes. But don’t be afraid to let go of what doesn’t work. You invested in professional branding. Your website reads well, and your capability statement sounds polished. But remove your logo and place your messaging beside your competitors. Something uncomfortable happens. "Innovative solutions." "Client-focused approach." "Committed to excellence." None of it is incorrect. It's just interchangeable. But asking ChatGPT to “write my homepage” will give you generic fluff that sounds like everyone else. Strategy first, AI second. Learn what makes copy convert, map your customer journey, nail your emotional triggers – then use AI to speed things up. ❌ “If your website doesn’t get much traffic, you don’t need to worry about copy” Actually, this makes nailing your copy MORE important. When you only get a handful of visitors each week, you can’t afford to lose them to confusing messaging. Every. Single. Visitor. Matters. You never get fast and efficient. And when you don’t get fast and efficient . . . You can’t make as much money as you could make. Learning new jargon, new buyers, new angles will hit you hard every time. It’ll even stop you in your tracks. Slow equals low margins. Specializing flips the math. HOW TO SPECIALIZE?  - List the last 10 projects you loved writing.  - Circle the buyers in common.  - Name the single problem they hired you to solve. THEN: 1. Pick one person.  2. Pick one problem they have. 3. Pick one way you solve it.  4. Pick one big benefit you deliver. 5. Interview a prospect. 6. Adjust your messaging accordingly based on the interview. Start there this week. WITHOUT SPECIALIZING: - You’ll struggle to become truly efficient. - You’ll struggle to earn what you could. Why?
