Ron van Loon met with our engineers trackside to see how Edge Control and 5G On Demand worked together in real time—streaming 4K video from drones, rooftops, and roaming rigs across the circuit. We stood up a private 5G core overnight. Processing happened at the edge, not in the cloud. No trucks. No cables. Just control—built for the moment. I don't know who's in charge of the frequency of ads on CraveTV....but I've seen the same ridiculous commercial of "streaming tv" about 1000 times over the last week. Note to the Big Blue marketing team....tv used to be streaming over the air and we didn't have "boxes" until the internet era. Is the team made up of 25yr olds? And maybe try and sell some more ads, it's almost as bad as watching CBC and seeing ads for the CBC more often than not. Maybe it's targeted, I do have Beanfield for my Internet service.

Rework isn't about perfection. It’s about Alignment. ​In a competitive market—especially in the prepaid wireless space—the stakes are visible every single day. When a business is facing headwinds, the pressure to "just get it out the door" is massive. ​But there is a trap in that urgency: 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭. ​I’ve had to lead my team through several rounds of "rework" lately. To an outsider, it might look like a delay. But as a leader, I have to reframe the goal: We aren't redoing the work because the first version wasn't "pretty." We’re redoing it because the problem we are solving has evolved. ​If we are struggling to attract new customers, then every pricing model and every product feature must be a direct answer to why they haven't joined us yet. ​How I reframe "Doing it Over" for my team: 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 "𝐖𝐡𝐲": I tell them plainly: "Our current trajectory needs to shift. This rework is the lever that makes that shift possible." ​ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦: If our goal is customer acquisition, our work must be as aggressive and focused as the problem itself. ​ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐬: In a classroom, if a student doesn't understand the lesson, you don't just repeat the same words louder. You change the approach. In business, if the market isn't responding, you don't just "try harder" at the wrong strategy. You reframe the strategy. ​People want to be part of a winning team. And a winning team is one that is brave enough to say: "This path won't get us to the win. 🚨 Lumen's CEO Kate Johnson said proximity and last-mile connectivity are "the name of the game." She's right. The problem is how this industry defines last mile. Lumen is building 58 million fiber miles by 2031. New route from Seattle to Minneapolis. 400Gbps for AI workloads. RapidRoutes cutting wavelength provisioning from months down to 20 days. That's a real infrastructure story. But long-haul backbone gets the press. OSP execution doesn't. Here's what nobody's pricing in when they read that announcement: The backbone route gets built. The assumption is that last-mile connectivity to actual data center front doors just materializes. It doesn't. ⚙️ Permitting. ⚙️ Make-ready. ⚙️ Pole capacity. ⚙️ Conduit conflicts. ⚙️ Utility coordination. That's what last mile actually means on the ground. 📊 A 5% inaccuracy in field data can turn a 20-day provisioning window into a 6-month delay. Not because the backbone wasn't ready. Because the OSP connecting to the building wasn't verified before crews ever mobilized. The OSP workforce strained by BEAD deployments is the same workforce needed to close that last mile to a hyperscale campus. Those two timelines are running simultaneously right now. ⚡ RapidRoutes solves a real problem on the service delivery side. But 20-day provisioning means nothing if the field work to reach the front door hasn't started. That's where builds stall. Not in the backbone. In the last mile that everyone assumed would sort itself out. Industrial translation and consumer translation are not the same problem. One gets it wrong and you re-read the sentence. The other gets it wrong and someone gets hurt. What goes on inside a smart radio system doing real-time translation? Construction sites run at 85 to 100 decibels. A consumer app trained on clean audio mishears. Fills gaps. Guesses. Industrial systems run noise suppression before translation. The model never hears the raw environment. "Bearing failure on shaft two" is not a sentence consumer models were optimized for. A model translating "purge valve" as "cleaning valve" in a chemical plant has made an error. Sounds minor. Isn't. Industrial translation has to be fine-tuned on domain data. Maintenance logs. Safety protocols. Equipment manuals. Where the gap gets real: 1. Latency matters more in emergencies. A translation arriving 4 seconds late during a safety event is useless. 2. If the system isn't sure, the system should say so. Industrial systems flag low-confidence outputs. 3. On a multi-person radio channel, the system has to know who is speaking before translating. Most buyers never ask about this. 4. Offline capability is non-negotiable. Cloud translation fails underground, offshore, or in dead zones. Different architecture. 5. You are responsible for your training data quality. Most buyers don't know this when they sign. The demo will work every time. Clean audio. Slow speaker. Common vocabulary. The field doesn't. Ask before you buy: -> What noise environments was this tested in? -> What domain vocabulary is in the training corpus? -> What happens when confidence drops? -> Does this run on-device or require connection? -> Who owns the correction data? Here are some highlights. 🔹 AI is changing the human machine interface. We’re moving beyond apps and menus toward agents that understand intent, see what we see, hear what we hear, and act on our behalf. 🔹 The center of the digital experience is shifting. The smartphone remains essential, but agents are becoming the new center of our digital experiences across phones, wearables, glasses, and emerging form factors. 🔹 2026 will be the year of agents. We’re seeing a rapid proliferation of agents; dynamic systems that understand intent, will move across apps and devices, and do things for you. 🔹 6G will be AI native. AI won’t just run on devices. 6G embeds AI into the network itself, using radio signals as physical AI for sensing and optimization, unlocking new capabilities 🔹 Data centers demand efficiency. As AI moves from training to inference and production, power efficient, specialized architectures will be critical. 🔹 Reinvention is not optional. Technology and markets evolve fast.
