Mike Henry shared thisExcellent take here from Suzanne Vranica at The Wall Street Journal on how advertising may evolve into the genAI ecosystem. I believe it will be more of a side-door: using AI to power creative and targeting (like FB); using data you give an LLM to power marketing outside your chatbot; or maybe more intrusively if you want added power/features but don't want to pay for them. Here, Anthropic is staking out the high road, and focusing on business users, while taking a jab at anyone (OpenAI) who might think there's a blunt revenue instrument to be built. (Oh, also, Claude took our a TRILLION in software/data market cap so far this week, so, yeah, business users.) https://lnkd.in/ezF3j2JxExclusive | Anthropic Takes Aim at OpenAI’s ChatGPT in Super Bowl Ad DebutExclusive | Anthropic Takes Aim at OpenAI’s ChatGPT in Super Bowl Ad Debut

Mike Henry shared thisGen Z is increasingly finding purpose in teaching roles. Have a read...Mike Henry shared thisTeach For America has experienced a 43% increase in incoming corps members over the past three years. We aren’t alone in attracting determined young leaders driven to make a difference. The Guardian spoke with Gen Z teachers across the country to find out why they’re choosing teaching. The common theme: a desire for community, a purpose-driven career, and the chance to have a real impact on students’ lives. Gen Z is “responding to the opportunity for purpose and responsibility at a time where many entry jobs feel uncertain or disconnected from impact”, shares TFA’s chief growth and program officer Whitney Petersmeyer. 📰Read more about why the classroom is where more and more young leaders are choosing to start and grow their careers: https://lnkd.in/gfztfgcvImpact over income: a striking number of gen Zers are becoming teachersImpact over income: a striking number of gen Zers are becoming teachers

Mike Henry shared thisgreat company...Mike Henry shared thisCool job alert! Private AI is looking for a Product Manager. Here’s why that’s interesting: This isn’t a “put out fires and write specs all day” kind of role. Private AI is setting the pace for how companies handle sensitive data with AI with deep differentiated technology, and tons of live real world use cases. You’ll be at the center of it: - Working side-by-side with engineers who are sharp and fast - Collaborating with business leads who know what it takes to ship - Owning a product already trusted by major global brands If you want to build something that actually changes how companies use data and AI, this is your shot. Curious? More details and apply below.

Today I joined Ari Paparo and Eric Franchi on the Marketecture Media Podcast. We talked about the $128B measurement gap in experiential marketing, why the industry is at an inflection point, and what it actually takes to build a standard from scratch. There was one question we didn't get to on the episode. Should marketers own their own experiences? My answer is a resounding yes. That's what this video is about. 🎙️ Full episode — link in comments. #ExperientialMarketing #CrowdAxis #MarketectureLive #FounderLife #Marketecture #ExperientialPowerIndex

Mike Henry liked thisMike Henry liked thisSome fun news on the professional front: I recently joined the MrBeast team as Chief Communications Officer! Over the past several weeks, I’ve had the chance to dive in with Jeffrey Housenbold, Jimmy Donaldson, and the Beast Industries team and see firsthand the boundless creativity and care that goes into everything we do. Whether it’s creating killer content, producing quality (and seriously tasty) Feastables snacks, or driving long-term global impact through Beast Philanthropy, it’s clear everyone at Beast is obsessed with telling great stories and making a positive difference in people’s lives. That energy is palpable the moment you walk through the doors. Next up: rolling up my sleeves as we expand into new content verticals, consumer products, and services. (And, of course, consuming as many Feastables Creamy Peanut Butter Eggs as humanly possible…).

We’ve been part of big wins, tough conversations, and everything in between. Along the way, we’ve built a friendship I truly value. We recently sat down to discuss that journey and what we’ve learned from each other over two decades. One thing that’s remained constant is a deep level of respect and the understanding that you can be competitive, hold your ground, and still show up with generosity. Mike Henry liked thisDr. Wendy once again helps change peoples lives by listening, empathizing and then providing knowledge to them about sleep. Spend 45 seconds reading her post. It’s worth it. Well-done Wendy.Mike Henry liked thisThere’s something powerful about gathering with a group of people who are all seeking the same thing: better sleep. I recently had the privilege of leading a Sleep Retreat at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, AZ—and the experience left me both inspired and deeply grateful. The need for better sleep has never been greater. Nearly 1 in 3 adults experience symptoms of insomnia, and an estimated 25–30 million adults in the U.S. suffer from sleep apnea, many of whom remain undiagnosed. These numbers remind me how critical it is to bring sleep science out of the lab and into people’s everyday lives. One topic that really resonated during the retreat was sleep shaming. At one point, an attendee became emotional as she shared how her family often berates her for being the last one up—criticizing her for not being able to join early morning activities at home or while traveling. You could feel the room shift. So many people quietly related to that experience. There was a palpable sense of relief when I explained that chronotypes are about 50% genetically driven. In other words, whether you’re a “morning lark” or a “night owl” isn’t simply a matter of willpower—it’s largely biology. Over the course of the retreat, we also dove into many of the questions people are asking right now about sleep: • Supplements—what may help and what may not • Melatonin—what it is and what it isn’t • Strategies for those maddening 3 a.m. awakenings • And how to use (and not misuse) sleep tracking data Moments like these are why I do this work. Helping people replace frustration and self-blame with understanding, evidence-based tools, and hope is incredibly meaningful. I’m so grateful to the Canyon Ranch team for creating such a beautiful space for learning, reflection, and restoration—and for the opportunity to help people reclaim one of the most powerful foundations of health. Because when we understand our sleep, we can finally start improving it. #SleepHealth #Insomnia #SleepApnea #Chronotypes #CanyonRanch

According to Crunchbase, global food tech funding in 2024 hit just $6B—down from over $20B in 2021. But the real story? M&A is surging. From PepsiCo’s $1.95B acquisition of poppi to David’s purchase of Epogee , strategic buyers are back at the table, hungry for innovation with clear revenue paths. Consolidation is the name of the game as valuations normalize and capital tightens. This is a shift worth watching: visionary tech is no longer enough—now it’s about viability, profitability, and execution. Startups that can deliver are becoming prime acquisition targets. What do you think—is this the golden window for M&A in food tech? Latest for PE Hub, the sauces and condiments subsector is drawing PE interest thanks to flavor innovation and the evolving wants for variety from the consumer. We've seen deals focused on premium brands such as Advent's acquisition of Sauer Brands, Inc. There's also been interest in the private label space such as Graham Partners' acquisition of Tulkoff Food Products, Inc. Thanks to Tricia Glynn, Andrew Snyder and Stephen Scharafin for the insight. https://lnkd.in/eGwqm-qE #sauce #condiment #consumer #privateequity

I'm excited to share that Fieldstone Bio has just closed a new $5m seed round, led by Ubiquity Ventures alongside E14 Fund (Calvin Chin and Habib Haddad) and LDV Capital (Evan Nisselson)! Fieldstone Bio is a "software beyond the screen" company that has figured out how to turn microbes like bacteria into living sensors for environmental surveillance! The company works with customers across agriculture, defense and more to employ Fieldstone's living sensors to identify target chemicals, nutrients, pollutants, or pathogens in the environment with high precision at millimeter scales across vast areas. These microbes translate chemical data into visual maps using hyperspectral imaging and AI, enabling detection via drones, planes and satellites. I think this startup very elegantly weaves together the best of on-the-ground testing with the scalability of remote sensing — two technologies that were previously impossible to connect! Congratulations on the new funding to co-founders Patrick Stone and Brandon Fields (hence Field-Stone :) Check out the company's exclusive funding announcement in TechCrunch: https://lnkd.in/gdX5XM6c #agtech #defensetech #remotesensing #biotech

Consolidation is proving to be a viable alternative for some companies in the once-hot food tech space. David 🤝 Epogee PepsiCo 🤝 poppi Flowers Foods & Subsidiaries 🤝 Simple Mills The Hershey Company 🤝 LesserEvil Brand Snack Co. FoodYoung 🤝 MeliBio Big Idea Ventures 🤝 Vevolution Venture funding for food tech has fallen sharply in recent years, but M&A activity in the space appears to be on the rise. The funding and dealmaking trends indicate that in the face of declining investor interest, consolidation is proving to be a viable alternative for some companies in the once-hot food tech space. Nathan Cooper of Barrel Ventures shares, “Many of the companies that were funded were years, if not decades away from commercial viability. They were seeing tech valuations, and required substantial amounts of cap-ex, when at the end of the day what they were selling was a CPG (consumer packaged goods) product and should have been valued as such.” Andrew D Ive of Big Idea Ventures commented, “Valuations have normalized compared to two years ago, creating an attractive window for strategic buyers to acquire de-risked, well-funded companies with validated technologies — often at reasonable prices.” This is a great article by Crunchbase highlighting the consolidation activity of the foodtech space. My tip to startups who are struggling to fundraise. Start having serious M&A conversations because you might be surprised at the partnerships you may find! https://lnkd.in/gHVJ35nm

Seed VC isn’t just in a downturn—it’s facing extinction unless it evolves fast. Great read from Rob Go & David Beisel at NextView Ventures... - YC and mega-funds now dominate the early-stage landscape, squeezing out traditional seed investors - Power law thinking has gone mainstream—everyone’s chasing trillion-dollar outliers - AI isn’t helping seed VCs—it’s raising the stakes, crowding the field, and disrupting VC itself - The middle of the market has collapsed, and excess profits are gone - Hope isn’t a strategy—seed needs a new model, now Link here... https://lnkd.in/ek2MZGhm And if you like this topic, I wrote a piece on venture bifurcating into inception funds and mega funds here: https://lnkd.in/eJz5DmX6 #ai #venturecapital #vc

Camber Creek led the $3.7 million Seed round for TwinKnowledge, which is tackling an important problem in the built environment. Construction projects get delayed and rework is required because of discrepancies across construction documents, submittals, requests for information, design, and other plans. TwinKnowledge’s AI Agents absorb structured and unstructured project data, surfacing and preventing conflicts before the work begins. We’re excited about our partnership with CEO Ivan Panushev and his team. #construction #AEC #AI #technology https://ow.ly/mBYX50VtaVG

Fellow agtech fund managers - we're competing on metrics that don't matter in agriculture while LPs walk away from agtech entirely. Deal count. Celebrity advisors. Media coverage. None of it correlates with farmer adoption or sustainable returns. Sarah Nolet and I just published a piece on what actually moves the needle: building shared credibility in the asset class instead of fighting over slivers of pie. Let's work together. Agtech's next phase of maturity depends on it. Full article in the comments ⬇️

Welcome to our 1st-ever Pachamama Ventures 4 Part Series! The intent of this series is to summarize insights from our Carbon-Negative Frontier Webinar that took place this morning featuring a fireside chat between yours truly, Aaron Fitzgerald, CEO & Co-Founder at Mars Materials, and our Venture Resident Birka Wolff, who expertly moderated the discussion. Part 1: The Corporate Climate Risk Reality 💼 The numbers don't lie: Fortune 500 companies are facing 3-28% of their assets at climate risk over the next 15 years. In our recent webinar with Mars Materials CEO Aaron Fitzgerald, we discussed how this creates unprecedented urgency for carbon-negative solutions. Here's what caught my attention: ✅ 95% of climate tech exits are M&As, not IPOs - corporates are the real drivers ✅ Companies need physically verifiable, drop-in replacements for fossil-derived materials ✅ The transition from "greenwashing" mass balance approaches to genuine carbon-negative solutions is accelerating The corporate world isn't just looking for ESG compliance anymore - they're seeking operational risk reduction through sustainable supply chains. This shift is creating massive opportunities for breakthrough technologies. As we witnessed with Mars Materials' carbon-negative acrylonitrile (used in everything from water purification to carbon fiber), the demand exists TODAY - even at premium pricing. The question isn't whether this transition will happen, but which companies will lead it. #Climatetech #CarbonNegative #VentureCapital #Sustainability #Fortune500 #MarsMaterials #PachamamaVentures
