Mark Josephson shared thisMy attention span is so short.... How short is it? My attention span is only 25 seconds This is not a joke. I switch context on average every 25 seconds when i'm working. But now that I can measure it, I am going to improve it. Thank you Intension team. Want to measure your attention span? Comment "Attention" below.Mark Josephson shared thisYour attention span is probably shorter than you think — and now you can measure it. We built a Mac app that measures the shape of your attention in real time. It tracks context switches, focus depth, and distraction patterns - then distills them into a dashboard that shows how you actually focus your attention throughout the day. It runs locally. No cloud. No tracking. No one sees your data but you. We're inviting a small group to test this with us as we build. Your experience will directly shape what Intension becomes. Mark Josephson shared thisThe Friday Update is one of the highest-leverage habits a CEO can build. It forces clarity once a week. It keeps your team aligned without meetings. It creates a living record of your company’s year, in your voice, in real time. More than that: it’s how you lead. Consistently. Authentically. With your hands on the wheel, steering through all the stuff, week after week after week. Start this Friday. Don’t overthink the format. You can steal my template -- link below in comments. Just write. 🔥 LFG 🔥

Mark Josephson shared this"We're going to miss the quarter and I don't know what to tell my board." -- one my clients last week. Who can you ask? If you don't have a coach or trusted advisors or peers, consider joining a group of similarly-focused peers. Spring cohort application here: https://mbj.im/ceo-group

Mark Josephson posted this"Don't f*ck up the 409a!" After my first board meeting as a CEO, one of my board members jokingly (I think) said this to me. I was pretty sure I knew what they meant, but wasn't sure and definitely was not comfortable asking for clarity. I couldn't ask my team. I couldn't ask my wife. But, I was lucky enough to have two close friends who were also first time venture-backed CEOs who I could call. I did, and it was so helpful. That's why I run CEO Peer Groups -- a safe place to ask the questions and get the support of people in the exact same job as you. Think you could benefit from this? Fill out the application below and let's get to it.

Mark Josephson shared thisIf you're Granola-Curious, lmk. I am all in. Thank you to the incredible Coaching Corner community for this opportunity and for the always-on support.Mark Josephson shared thisLast week in Coaching Corner our community member Mark Josephson led a live, behind-the-scenes session on using Granola to make coaching more effective and less cognitively demanding. He walked through a real workflow: OS-level transcription, auto-start on calls, and turning raw conversations into summaries, next‑session prep, action items, and insights. A big theme was presence—staying fully with the client while Granola quietly captures the details in the background, creating a searchable history for better follow‑through and long‑term progress tracking. Mark also dug into consent, privacy, and data retention, plus how coaches are extending Granola beyond 1:1 sessions into their clients’ own meetings and systems. (and yes, this recap was made using Granola too ✅) If you’re a coach curious about augmenting your practice with AI (without losing the human connection, Coaching Corner is a community exploring conversations just like this with curiosity and depth and we're so lucky and grateful to have Mark Josephson host such an engaging session. Mark Josephson reposted thisTL;DR --> Spots open for CEO Peer Group (Spring Cohort). Being a CEO can be lonely. You can’t always say the hard thing to your board. You can’t show doubt to your team. And most people in your life don’t actually understand the pressure you’re carrying. A trusted peer group fixes that. It’s one of the highest-leverage things you can have. A small, closed group of people at your level, facing your kind of problems, with no agenda other than to help each other get better. You bring your real stuff. So does everyone else. You leave with perspective, ideas, and the feeling that you’re not doing this alone. Application link below. Questions? Fire away. 🔥 LFG 🔥

Mark Josephson liked thisMark Josephson liked thisFrom 0 to 1 million impressions in 90 days. Here's what I learned. Three months ago, I had zero LinkedIn presence. Then something clicked. Instead of trying to write what I thought people wanted to hear on LinkedIn, I started writing like myself. → Told stories about Alex AI instead of just product announcements → Posted daily instead of when I "had something important to say" → Posted what I'd personally read, not what I thought people would read The algorithm doesn't care about fancy vocabulary or perfectly polished posts. It cares about whether people stop scrolling. And in a world of AI, people stop for authenticity. Authenticity beats polish every single time.

Mark Josephson liked thisI've been at Uncork Capital for 15 years. I've watched us back founders before anyone else believed in them, hold on through the hard parts, and show up in ways that most investors don't. I've seen what this team is made of. So when we decided it was time to refresh our brand and rebuild our website, I was excited to get to lead the project alongside Andy. Getting it right mattered. We spent the better part of a year on it. That's a lot of rounds of feedback, a lot of late looks at typography and color palettes, a lot of "is this actually us?" conversations. The answer we kept coming back to: steady, clear, genuinely founder-first. Not trying to be something it's not. The new site and brand aren't a reinvention. It's more like... the outside finally matches the inside. Really proud of this one. Go read Andy's post. And if you're a founder at the earliest stages of something, go check out the new site ↓ #venture #seed #uncorkMark Josephson liked thisVenture firms rebrand for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes it's genuine evolution - the identity finally catches up with who the firm has become. Sometimes it's camouflage - a way of looking like a different kind of firm than the one the last few years revealed. And sometimes it's just that the old website was embarrassing and someone finally had enough. Ours is mostly the first, none of the second, and just a touch of the last :) Today we're launching a new brand and a redesigned website. The logo is refreshed. The palette is cleaner. The typography is sharper. And the site actually reflects how we think in 2026. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gFxa34ya

Mark Josephson reacted on thisBethany Crystal is doing some really cool things around educating NYers about what can be done on a small and grand scale with AI.Mark Josephson reacted on thisYesterday we convened the first gathering for localhost:3000, an all-day vibe coding gathering for NYC builders. Co-hosted with Louise Macfadyen, we set out to gather a group of fellow vibe coders to help us both make sense of what it means to be a builder in the the age of AI. Intentionally small, we capped attendance to 20 people and ended up having 11 folks join in for the day. We kept the day loosely structured. But the best part was when a one-off request where I sought tech architecture help on my own project ended up resulting in nearly 4 hours straight of demos from the group. To me, this is such an important signal that IRL network connections matter more than ever in the age of AI. Thanks so much to Louise for co-hosting this with me and to Fred Benenson for hosting us! If you're a builder interested in convening in a future session like this - or have an office where you'd like to host builders for a day, drop a line to bethany@buildfirst.ai. I recently joined our Founder and Managing Partner Jonathan Lowenhar on the Thrive Through Connection podcast with Mike Preuss to talk about one of the most difficult leadership challenges founders face. One such topic was board dysfunction. When dynamics turn toxic, the cost is real. In the episode, I share how one founder shifted the conversation by embracing their role, ensuring the right voices were in the room, and reframing communication so the board could engage productively. These are the moments that define the journey from founder to CEO. At Enjoy The Work, we are committed to helping leaders make that leap with confidence and clarity. 🎧 Watch the clip below and listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/euvjpC42

If you do one thing today, read this remarkable article by Brian Balfour on "The Next Great Distribution Shift" - it's the most thorough and impactful post I've seen on what is happening with AI platforms and how this will fundamentally shift the environment we're all operating and building in. As Balfour perfectly put it, "The platform isn't your friend. It's not your enemy either. It's a force of nature. You can surf the wave or get crushed by it, but you can't stop it from coming." These are truly wild times, but we have to be ready to adapt (or fall behind), build with these platform dynamics in mind, and leverage AI's potential by **both** building it into your product and also into your distribution strategies. It's the only path forward. #AI #tech https://lnkd.in/dB5rw_AQ

I’ve seen execs and founders land clients, partnerships, funding, and speaking gigs—not because they were the loudest, but because their message was 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 and repeated everywhere. Here’s what works: ✅ Clarity – Know your value. Say it in 1–2 sharp sentences. ✅ Consistency – Say it the same way online, in meetings, in your bio. ✅ Credibility – When others repeat your message, you’ve nailed it. Example: One client aligned his pitch, profile, and site around one message. Result: 40% more inbound investor interest in 90 days. Want to stand out? - Define what you want to be known for - Audit your platforms - Repeat until remembered Strategic visibility > random noise. Just as consistent training sharpens an athlete's approach, consistent messaging sharpens your credibility. #PersonalBranding #Leadership

Most agencies depend on referrals or the occasional inbound lead. Unfortunately, it’s unpredictable and keeps growth out of your control. That’s why we built something different: Account-Based Podcasting. In this Scrappy ABM episode, I sat down with Joseph Lewin, our Head of Podcast Strategy, to break down exactly how we generated $2M in revenue in two years from a podcast that started with zero listeners. We walk through the 3 questions every agency should answer before launching a show and a 30-day framework for turning guest outreach into pipeline. Grab the tips: https://lnkd.in/gx5xH5xk

Just came off a sharp, forward-looking panel on how AI-enabled search—or “answer engines”—are transforming commerce at MARCC. Moderated by Mark Stenberg ADWEEK the panel featured Josh Blyskal Profound , Colin Duethorn Snap Inc. and Ben Dietz @rangelife Each brought a unique perspective on how AI is collapsing the traditional marketing funnel and redefining discovery, attribution, and brand visibility. Josh dropped one of the most important takeaways: if your site is heavily built in JavaScript and not structured in clean, crawlable HTML, AI models may not even be able to see your products—let alone recommend them. In the age of AI, visibility starts with infrastructure. The future of commerce is being shaped by AI. The question is—can it find you? #AI #Search #Commerce #Marketing #Profound #AIVisibility #Ecommerce #MarTech

🔷 A Wake-Up Call for Boards & Leadership: Why an Ombuds Is Essential for Strong Governance 🔷 The very public situation at Astronomer—where the CEO and CHRO’s relationship became a reputational risk—underscores a lesson for all organizations: Trust and ethics must be protected at every level, from the boardroom to the break room. Formal policies aren’t enough. The Board and Leadership are responsible not only for oversight, but also for fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and trust. Best practices in governance point to the need for truly independent, confidential channels like tEQuitable for employees to speak up, even (and especially) when top executives are involved. But the benefits are more than risk management: * For employees: An ombuds gives people a safe, impartial space to raise concerns, especially if the usual chain of command feels compromised or inaccessible. * For leadership and boards: An ombuds serves as an early warning system—surfacing cultural or ethical issues before they become headline news, and demonstrating a real commitment to transparency and accountability. A modern organizational ombuds is not a “nice to have”—it is a crucial part of leadership's toolkit for mitigating risk, enhancing trust, and upholding the organization’s values. Are your speak-up programs current and effective enough to handle sensitive issues—at every level? #CorporateGovernance #Ethics #WorkplaceCulture #Ombuds #Leadership #BoardBestPractices #HR https://lnkd.in/gfDkaVgY
