I’m so proud of that poster. I’m happy I get to share moments like this with my family. And I’m also glad that I did Star Wars some justice last night, because I wasn’t trying to deal with angry nerds lol. ( I’m one of those angry nerds btw 🤣). The Bigger Picture Show is always a great time. It’s like a family reunion for designers. There was so much great on showcase. I feel like we represented Indy’s design scene right. #posterdesigncommunity #posterdesign #starwars #procreate #indy

I’m co-hosting this with strategist and product leader Metsy Rose, and this show comes from a simple question we kept asking: How do you stay grounded when everything keeps evolving? Each episode explores the intersection of design and product management—with real conversations about what’s actually changing in our work. No fluff. Just honest perspectives from people building, leading, and adapting in real time. You can listen now—we’d love your support, feedback, and thoughts. Incidents like this are a strong reminder of how essential real, human QC is — even on rush jobs. A proper review on both sides would have caught this instantly. But in an age of automation and AI-driven workflows, mistakes like these can slip right through and derail all the hard work that should be the focus. Instead of celebrating the restoration or the quality of the show, everyone ends up talking about what should never have been visible in the first place. https://lnkd.in/gkX9SaPf

It has been 4 years now since we opened HAA, the first specialty school for animation in the US. 100% animation in person for 8 hours a day with training from experienced Hollywood animators and directors. Students learn with classical animation training and industry geared projects for film, games, and television. It has been a great joy to develop the kind of curriculum I wished I would have gotten from Cal Arts after working in the industry for 30 years. Most colleges leave their students without guidance on what they specifically need for a competitive portfolio today. Students do character designs and student films that are misguided and unpolished. We build projects that are industry relavent and train students 6 semesters deep in order for them to reach pro levels. We even help our students build their portfolio websites and teach them how to be a professional within a studio system. This is a school striving to lead education with cutting edge technology and experience. Learn feature storyboarding from experienced feature story artists. Learn TV production boards from primetime directors or TV board artists. Learn Previs from a top previs lead from Marvel and Universal. Learn game animation and cinematics from an experienced lead and game cinematic director. Learn Unreal Engine for filmmaking from feature and game directors. The animation industry is more challenging than ever and for serious students we offer one of the best solutions. Daily in person professional guidance with a structure that is second to none in practical real world training. In 2026 we launch our next intermediate level program for online students called Creative Edge and grow our 3rd year Mastercraft program with fantastic pro level projects. It's going to be an exciting year and we invite new students to check out our website and contact us if you are interested in learning more. https://lnkd.in/g8E8uFuU #animation

Why Studios and Executive Producers Don’t Accept Unsolicited Scripts — and Why Submission Release Forms Exist Writers, directors, and producers — don’t take submission policies personally. Regardless of your past successes, awards, relationships, or who you have attached to your project, legal liability and risk exposure will always outweigh your idea in the eyes of an entrepreneur, investor, studio, or executive producer. This is not about ego, rejection, or gatekeeping. It is about protecting capital, intellectual property, and the companies and individuals who are responsible for operating at a professional and accountable standard. In film and television, many studios, production companies, and executive producers either do not accept unsolicited submissions — or require a Submission Release Form before reviewing a script, treatment, or series concept. These policies exist to reduce legal exposure, maintain IP integrity, and ensure professional submission controls. REASONS ➤ Protection against idea-theft claims Studios receive thousands of pitches each year. Many projects share similar themes, characters, or story arcs. Without a release form, a writer can later allege that a studio “used their idea,” even if similar material was already in development. The release reduces litigation risk. ➤ Confirmation of voluntary submission A submission release confirms that the writer is submitting voluntarily, acknowledges that similar concepts may already exist, and agrees that review does not guarantee compensation, credit, development, or attachment. ➤ Chain-of-title and IP integrity Studios and financiers must maintain a clean chain-of-title. Reviewing unsolicited work without documentation creates uncertainty around authorship, ownership, rights, and encumbrances — which becomes a liability in financing, distribution, and legal due diligence. ➤ Operational and volume constraints Major companies receive more material than they can reasonably evaluate. Limiting submissions to agents, attorneys, managers, or trusted partners creates a professional filter and ensures accountability. ➤ Consistency, confidentiality, and professional standards Formal submission pathways support fairness, confidentiality, and structured evaluation — rather than informal exchanges, back-channel conversations, or undocumented pitches. BOTTOM LINE “No unsolicited submissions” policies and submission release forms are not personal and not political — they are industry-standard safeguards that protect creators, producers, investors, and companies while preserving the integrity of the development process.

Every video has a purpose. A video can make people feel connected to their work. A video can frame specific projects as stepping stones toward a larger goal. A video can explain a complicated concept simply. Before pressing "record," figure out the video's purpose.

I still can’t believe this is real… Adobe Premiere Pro - Tips, Tricks, & Tutorials Premiere Pro’s Object Mask allows you to isolate specific areas of your footage to apply effects, color corrections, or blur elements selectively. These tools are designed to streamline your editing workflow, enabling you to accomplish complex tasks without leaving your editing environment to use After Effects.

Please, consider not using AI voices, or internal resources for your concepts, pitches, animatics, etc... Let's find a way to use the same human talent (hopefully) you'll consider for the final!! Even the "union rate" for demo reads is pretty low, AND it gives you the chance to start the connection between talent, copy and client. If your client deserves YOUR creative talents... imagine the value added by a trained human artists! Cast them early! Have them standing by. Another tool in your toolbox, ready to make the project shine. In 2025 I worked on several projects that I was able to negotiate attractive demo-fees, so the producer could afford multiple adjustments or even full re-writes as we worked toward the final spot. When that final session date came, it was like old friends walking the path THEY CREATED! Smooth, tested and pre-approved! Adding VO doesn't have to be last minute every time. It can be early, and part of the creative process. 😉

For my connections focused on #motioncapture and/or #metahumans, I thought I’d share a “sneak peak” at what appears to be some major enhancements to #unrealengine’s performance capture and digital human pipelines in UE 5.6. Looks like the MetaHuman Creator system is not only moving into an in-engine tool, but also adding highly customizable body sizing controls and other major advances. The performance capture pipeline also appears to be retooled to be designed around the goal of centralizing live capture workflow, including custom performer->character mapping, session/slate pre-planning and session management. All of this is based on what I’m inferring from the public source code version of #urealengine5.6. The primary source of the best information on all of this will be the talks and developers at #unrealfest in Orlando next month. If you’re going, keep an eye out for me. I’ll be in the audience of all the MetaHuman and performance capture sessions can get into other than when I’m presenting my own lab session on the Motion Design toolset. Hope to see you in Orlando! https://lnkd.in/eaND2wJr
