It has been 4 years now since we opened HAA, the first specialty school for animation in the US. 100% animation in person for 8 hours a day with training from experienced Hollywood animators and directors. Students learn with classical animation training and industry geared projects for film, games, and television. It has been a great joy to develop the kind of curriculum I wished I would have gotten from Cal Arts after working in the industry for 30 years. Most colleges leave their students without guidance on what they specifically need for a competitive portfolio today. Students do character designs and student films that are misguided and unpolished. We build projects that are industry relavent and train students 6 semesters deep in order for them to reach pro levels. We even help our students build their portfolio websites and teach them how to be a professional within a studio system. This is a school striving to lead education with cutting edge technology and experience. Learn feature storyboarding from experienced feature story artists. Learn TV production boards from primetime directors or TV board artists. Learn Previs from a top previs lead from Marvel and Universal. Learn game animation and cinematics from an experienced lead and game cinematic director. Learn Unreal Engine for filmmaking from feature and game directors. The animation industry is more challenging than ever and for serious students we offer one of the best solutions. Daily in person professional guidance with a structure that is second to none in practical real world training. In 2026 we launch our next intermediate level program for online students called Creative Edge and grow our 3rd year Mastercraft program with fantastic pro level projects. It's going to be an exciting year and we invite new students to check out our website and contact us if you are interested in learning more. https://lnkd.in/g8E8uFuU #animation

We recently delivered an Animation Workshop at a school, where students got a behind-the-scenes look at the animation industry and how it actually works. The session covered: -How animation is made -Industry roles and career paths -Tools used by professionals -How students can start learning animation right now Our goal was to show students that animation isn’t just something to watch, it’s something they can create, explore, and grow into from an early stage. 🎬 Teaching Motion to Tell a Story In animation, movement isn’t decoration — it’s language. A tilt of the head, a pause before a step, the way a character leans into a run — these are the choices that tell the audience how someone feels before a single word is spoken. At Fun Academy, we spend a lot of time in this rough, exploratory stage. It’s where characters learn how to exist in their world, how to relate to each other, and how emotion becomes physical. This part of the process is messy, playful, and deeply creative — and it’s where story and performance first meet. Long before polish, animation is about performance.

I’ve been working in Toon Boom for almost 10 years, and somehow this year is the first time I’ve really dug into the Node View. For most of my career, I’ve focused heavily on frame-by-frame animation, so the node system was something I’d only touched lightly, just enough to get by. Recently though, I’ve been working on a project with much more puppeted animation, which pushed me to finally slow down, open the Node View, and actually learn it. It’s been a great reminder that no matter how long you’ve been in this industry, there’s always more to explore. If you’re also diving into puppeted animation in Toon Boom, these creators have been incredibly helpful for me: ZeBirdBrain https://lnkd.in/d4YBFK9M She has hundreds of hours of tutorials covering pretty much every corner of Toon Boom. An amazing resource. 🎥 DrawSean https://lnkd.in/d-M-s4rZ Fantastic step-by-step walkthroughs on building and animating characters from start to finish. Super clear and practical. I’d also recommend the official Toon Boom YouTube channel. The tutorials are a bit drier, but very clear and well structured. Keep learning, keep refining the craft. If you’ve got other Toon Boom resources you swear by, I’d love to hear them 👀

After a weeks’ worth of what I thought was dazzling animation... My mentor didn't give me the feedback I was expecting. I was in shock...and later in despair... but this became a turning point in my career. It was exactly what I needed to hear. From this point on, I committed myself and went from being mediocre to getting paid as an animator a year later. In this series, I'm going to walk you through every detail and notes my Pixar mentor gave me. In this video we're covering stronger spacing. Check out the 21-Day Beyond Beginner Animation Challenge in my bio. The 21-Day challenge is designed to take an absolute Day 1 beginner and give you the skills to become the kind of animator who's capable and on the fast track to going pro in tv, movies, or games. #animation #3danimation #animator #animacion #blender #tutorial #cgi #animationart #mentor #animatorsoninstagram #educational #art #artist #anime

Congrats Gavin Dell. Pretty impressive what you have built. In my biased opinion (I have a student there)... this is the best animation school in the country. 👏
