One thing I always pay attention to in any engagement… The leadership in the room. Leaders set the tone. Recently, I had the opportunity to keynote for a university audience, and what stood out was the intentionality of their Vice President, Eric Ray. After the session, he shared: “Monique did a strong keynote. Our people are excited.” But what matters even more… I’m now hearing that teams are still discussing, and implementing what we discussed, in real time, in their team interactions. That’s the question every institution is really asking: Will this investment translate beyond the session? Because too often, people attend, take notes…and then go right back to doing things the same way. No shift in energy. No shift in behavior. But when communication is clear enough for implementation and not information overload, you can feel it. People move differently. They engage differently. They lead differently. And when it doesn’t happen, you feel that too. 😉

MASTERMIND MONDAY: Infusing #Change into an organization is EASY…Right? It can be easier when you know WHERE to start. Last month I had the opportunity to speak with my fellow member of yhe George W. Bush Presidential Center #VLP Magnificent 7, Dr. Keith Castille. In our conversation, Dr. “KC” explained the challenges he has seen in inspiring change over his 20+ years in #leadership. He highlighted the difficulties that arise when change meets the “frozen middle”. This is the level of organizational leadership where enough influence and control of information exists to hamper changes from the bottom or the top from progressing, for both good reasons, and bad. Yesterday I spoke at HR Empower on Secure Leadership to an amazing group of women, thanks to Katherine Fry, SHRM- SCP We centered the conversation on one core premise: Leadership is a relationship — and it begins with the relationship you have with yourself. We explored attachment styles and how they show up at work, especially under stress. Conflict, responsibility, and transition activate learned patterns of relating in otherwise capable leaders. These patterns can look like over-control, withdrawal, reactivity, or self-doubt. What often gets labeled as challenging behavior is, in many cases, nervous system activation. If leaders understood this, many relational breakdowns wouldn’t turn personal. Many workplace moments like giving feedback, engaging in conflict, or navigating transition can be approached with more clarity, attunement, and repair. I was thrilled to share this knowledge and uber excited by the engagement and interest in the room. There was a shared recognition that many workplace situations don’t need to escalate as much as they do. With the right awareness and skill, they can be addressed earlier, with more clarity and steadiness, creating more opportunities for collaboration, creativity, and connectedness. Understanding attachment and nervous system dynamics doesn’t eliminate conflict. We are so excited about all the new changes at ICF that were just published publicly, but be kind to the schools and providers as they navigate these changes. They are significant, and not small. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to be part of the @professionalpursuitofpurpose mentoring program, and while it offers a wealth of benefits, here are my top three: 1. Clarity & Alignment This program gave me the space to reflect deeply on what truly matters to me in my career. With the guidance of a mentor who’s walked the path before me, I was able to identify the skills I already have and gain insight into the ones I need to develop—so I can build a career that aligns with my values, goals, and aspirations. 2. Accelerated Growth Engaging in a mentorship program outside of work has been a game-changer. Not only have I received tools and support to thrive in my current role (which isn’t always guaranteed in every company), but I’ve also gained encouragement and perspective on what the next level demands—both in my career and personal life. 3.
