Justin Fenton shared thisWeather data has shown to be such a critical data set for Databricks customers. The Accuweather partnership has been an incredible unlock for many of these customers and now they're showing up and doing some awesome events at the AI Summit this year. Please join us! https://lnkd.in/gUGGq5QxJustin Fenton shared thisAvailability isn't adoption. We learned that the hard way. AccuWeather's weather intelligence has been on Databricks Marketplace for a 3+ years now. Clean. Governed. Continuously refreshed. Scalable. Decades of accuracy before "AI ready data" was a phrase anyone used...and it sat underutilized until the right people leaned in. That's the part I want to talk about. Because the growth we've seen over the past 12 months is a partnership story, not a product story. Taylor Melville and Justin Fenton — thank you for keeping us in the room and pushing the relationship forward at every turn. And to the vertical teams — Tony Gilbert, Tony LaVasseur, Pete Kyriakoulis in Commerce, Media & Entertainment, Julien Debard in Energy & Utilities, Herman Lombard in Manufacturing, and Rob Saker in Retail — I want to say this plainly: you are the reason this partnership is working. You didn't treat us like a vendor. You brought us into your world, challenged us to think in outcomes not features, and invested time that didn't have to be invested. That kind of partnership is rare. It doesn't go unnoticed and it doesn't go unappreciated. Now the conversation is evolving fast. Agentic AI needs context to act. MCP is making that context accessible in real time. Weather intelligence — accurate, governed, forecast-grade — is exactly the kind of signal that turns an AI agent from reactive to anticipatory. That's what we'll be talking about at #DataAISummit 2026. Justin Fenton reposted thisJustin Fenton reposted thisWe're live at AVEVA World in Milan this week - come find us at Booth B23. The future of industrial operations runs on OT + IT working as one system. A great example: SQM one of the world's leading specialty chemicals and lithium producers, paired AVEVA PI System and CONNECT with Databricks via Delta Sharing and turned years of fragmented plant data into a closed-loop, AI-driven operating model. The results speak for themselves: ↗ +1% nitrate yield ↗ 1–3% better raw material efficiency ↗ 10–15% less process variability ↗ ~90% accurate predictive models ↗ Time-to-insight: days → minutes If you're at AVEVA World May 19–21, swing by Booth B24 to talk through how we're helping industrial leaders converge OT and IT on a single data + AI foundation. Justin Fenton reposted thisJustin Fenton reposted thisWOW! Caspar Herzberg knows exactly how to open AVEVA World. Turns out, being “super excited” isn't the only shared commitment between AVEVA and Databricks. 😀 ~2 years ago in Paris, Matei Zaharia and Caspar set a bold direction with a simple idea: radical collaboration. That vision has raised the bar for what industrial AI now delivers across the ecosystem. Today, Rob McGreevy brought that to life with a compelling example from SQM, a global leader in industrial chemicals. The challenge is common: model retraining cycles stretched into weeks, and getting updated parameters back into industrial operations lagged - leaving real economic value on the table. By leveraging Delta Sharing, SQM transformed that cycle - what once took weeks now takes hours, directly contributing to increasing yield by 1%, raw material/feedstock efficiency up by 3% and 15% reduction in performance & off-spec variability. Excited that SQM will go deeper on this at Data + AI Summit in San Francisco next month - highly recommend building this into your agenda! #AW2026 #AVEVA #Databricks #RadicalCollaboration

Justin Fenton reposted thisJustin Fenton reposted thisThe next CPG margin opportunity isn't in pricing. It's in the supply chain. And capturing it requires a fundamentally different relationship with your retail partners, their data, and how you drive decisions. And there is no bigger opportunity that with Walmart. The shift to collaborative supply chains is already happening, and the CPGs moving first are seeing real results: lower inventory costs, stronger shelf presence, and AI-powered decisions made the moment signals arrive. Leading the charge here is Walmart, which is providing suppliers with daily and even hourly level data via Scintilla. On April 8th, Walmart Data Ventures and Databricks are hosting a live conversation on what this actually looks like in practice, from Delta Sharing enabling cross-cloud, zero-duplication data access, to agentic AI turning demand and POS signals into automated replenishment actions in real time. Justin Fenton reacted on thisJustin Fenton reacted on thisIf you know me, I hate cliche. I hate the generic version that lacks human authenticity. But it seems apt for this one... I've had my last Day One at AWS. I am who I am because of Amazon. I went in 9 years ago new to Seattle, new to tech, and new to sales. A single guy that was trying to figure out where I fit into this world. AWS gave me direction, gave me purpose, gave me knowledge, gave me achievement.... but most importantly, it gave me family. Kari Zimmerman (Scott), thank you for coming into my life at the perfect time and making me the person I am today. You were (and still are) the secret to my success and inspire me every day to be the best version of myself. On top of that, adding my brother Eric Zimmerman and sister-in-law Megan Poloskey Zimmerman, AIA to the fold a few years later made it a true family business. But family encompassed more than my literal blood relatives. My colleagues quickly became my chosen family. Micah McCollough saw more in me than I saw in my self, Noel Warner challenged me to always be prepared, Erin Morris Dunlop always kept it real through trials and tribulations, Luqman Wade provided an example of growth mindset, and Taylor Phillippi showed me what true team leadership meant. Morgan Clark taught me a fearlessness to reach for the stars, Peter Walchenbach challenged me philosophically, Jarrod J. Ammons expanded my world view, Akeem Enifeni inspired me to always keep learning, Saurabh Sharma, PMP® showed me how to both work and play hard, Christina (Rokakis) Holmer instilled a passion for ID&E, and Tariro Makoni taught me to follow my heart and success will follow. I owe the person I am to these people and MANY more than the character limits (and attention spans) will allow. You know who you are and you know you mean the world to me. More to come soon on future plans, but I leave this chapter with a full heart in awe of the impact the people of Amazon had on my life.

Exponential growth is the standard. With LLMs advancing as rapidly as they are, we can't longer rely on workflows that don't advance in parallel. We have to continuously adapt our systems and processes to keep pace with the capabilities of the latest models.

IBM Cloudability Financial Planning and IBM Apptio Planning Intelligent Forecasting are now live, and I’m incredibly proud of what our team has delivered. We’re helping organizations move beyond spreadsheet-driven IT and Cloud budgeting and build collaborative, defensible plans that tie real usage to future spend. Teams can now reduce variance with hierarchical budgets, automated forecasts, and watsonx-powered intelligence that align cloud investments with business outcomes and into IT financial planning workflows. This launch is a great example of the power of the IBM portfolio: combining cloud cost visibility from Cloudability and Apptio Planning platform to help IT, Finance, and Business stay in lockstep on strategy and spend, all built on a library used in other IBM products. If you’re interested in how these capabilities come together in practice, check out the walkthrough here: https://lnkd.in/gTV-gwyC .

The agentic era needs more than powerful models. It needs systems of record, enterprise data, governance, and orchestration. That is not something you bolt on after the fact. It is built over decades, alongside the world's largest organisations. The frontier-model ecosystem is catching up to what enterprise customers already run in production. Great post by Madhav Thattai, EVP & GM Agentforce at salesforce.

Just shared this with my team and wanted to share it more broadly too. Matt Wood is re-joining AWS as our Chief AI and Technology Officer. In his new role, Matt will be both deeply engaged on our services innovation and working closely with customers. Matt helped build much of our AI and ML platform over 14 years at AWS, including shaping Amazon SageMaker and Bedrock. He then went to PwC and helped some of the world's largest enterprises put AI into production. Customers are past experimentation and into building AI into how their businesses run. Matt will be working directly with them, helping them get there faster and at scale. Welcome back, Matt! 🚀

The real bottleneck to scaling AI‑adjacent automation isn’t the tech.... it’s the way we work and think. This hit me recently because I started a new coffee subscription service where I am using a Wi‑Fi scale that automatically orders a refill when the beans run low. No apps to open. No remembering. No scrambling. It just works. But here’s the catch: It only works because the workflow behind it is clean. Simple trigger → clear threshold → secure connection → predictable outcome. If the process were messy or unclear, the automation wouldn’t save it. I’d just run out of coffee faster. And that’s exactly what I’m seeing in enterprise environments. Automation doesn’t fix broken processes. Agentic‑AI‑adjacent tools don’t fix them either. They amplify whatever’s already there hiding underneath. - (insert spooky music here) Mahooowahahah. - So here’s the lens I’m using with clients heading into 2026: 1. What should be automated? Not everything. Just the steps that slow people down or add zero value. If it feels like “2002 logic,” it’s ready for an upgrade. 2. What should be simplified? Automation loves clarity. Humans do too. If a process requires a decoder ring, it’s not ready for scale. 3. What should be secured? This is the part we probably should’ve known all along. Nothing scales: automation, AI, or otherwise without security as the foundation. When these three pieces line up: automate, simplify, secure.... you stop running pilots and start running a real operating model. Just like my coffee setup: clean workflow, clear triggers, secure connection, predictable outcome. No drama. No surprises. No running out of beans. What’s one workflow in your world that needs to be simplified before automation touches it?

There is a fierce global competition for AI dominance; and NetApp surveyed 400 CEOs and 400 IT Executives across the US, China, UK, and India in May 2025 to understand who is leading now, and who is best positioned to lead in the future? Twice as many CEOs and IT Executives see the US as leading in AI against China, the UK and India in the next five years. Every region is all in on AI: 81% of global respondents are currently piloting or scaling AI, and 88% view their organization as mostly or completely ready to sustain AI transformation. Organizations in some countries have better internal alignment than others, which could determine long-term success and leadership. One of the most significant success factors in the AI Space Race will be data infrastructure and data management, supported by cloud solutions that are agile, secure and scalable.
