One of the ways we connect during our Buffer Retreats is a cherished tradition called Personal Stories. This is one of the trickier traditions as it can feel like a business asking you to open up about your personal life, but it doesn't take long for you to realize that's not the case at all. For the first two nights of our retreat we're divided into groups of four to have dinner together. Each night, two people share their stories. It's entirely up to you what you speak about, how much you share, and how deep you go. Usually it's a rough timeline of your life, important/formative moments, and your career journey so far. If you're willing to risk a little and go deeper, though, you'll be rewarded with a unique, therapeutic, and strangely meaningful experience. You not only get a chance to be completely genuine about your life with people who have literally no reason to judge or reject you, you'll also spend many hours simply listening to their stories as well. It's different and special.

It opens a lot of doors for developers, agencies, and anyone who wants Buffer to fit into the way they already work. We can't wait to see what you build with it! Buffer's API moved into general availability yesterday! 🎉 One API, eleven social platforms, official partnerships with: Meta, LinkedIn, X, and others, and the first time Buffer's full surface area is open to builders. In the video, our Staff Product Manager Amanda Marochko walks you through where to start: - The developer portal, - the GraphQL explorer, - and what our MCP server unlocks if you want an AI agent publishing on your behalf. The work behind this came from engineers, designers, product, support, marketing, and the partner teams at the platforms that matter most. What this opens up in practice: - Creators layering Buffer into a Slack bot or a Lovable app, - marketing teams plugging Buffer into the AI workflows they already run, - and developers and agencies building full integrations on one schema with no SDK required. Most of what's live today sits in publishing, scheduling, and content creation. Analytics, community, and the rest of Buffer's surface area open up next! The shape of that roadmap will be set by what builders push us toward. If you ship something on the Buffer API, send it our way. We'd love to see it! ⬇️ 💬

The API isn't the only thing we're working on at Buffer 💁🏻♂️ Something else I'm iterating on with Rathes Sofia Jacob is a new Home screen that pulls in at-a-glance info from each area of Buffer: - upcoming posts on your schedule - recent comments to reply to - high level metrics & goal status - some inspiration (currently templates, eventually blog content and other things!) I've been playing with it internally and I *love* it. Home brings the most important things to check on into one place. It also just got me to notice a comment that just came in on another one of my posts that I would have otherwise missed, unless I clicked into Community or found buried in LinkedIn's notifications. Anyone want to try it out? 😉 This is a v1 and I'd love to get feedback from some folks who might find this useful. Reply in the comments or DM if you're interested!

40% of everything I've posted on LinkedIn in the past 3 years is about random things. I know this because I tag all my posts in Buffer, and my custom app shows me the total number of posts per category. Seeing those numbers was a bit of a wake up call that, despite having content pillars, I may just be phoning it in a lot. Are those posts actually useful to my goals, or are they just a crutch for me to post something so that I can stay consistent without actually saying anything? Here's what I'm doing now: drilling down into the data to see how the different tags (or content buckets) are performing. 1️⃣ The goal: What's mine this month or quarter? Is it engagement, impressions, shares, saves, or follower growth? 2️⃣ Which categories are doing most of the work towards that goal? 3️⃣ Am I actually posting enough in those categories? 4️⃣ Are the posts on varied topics within those categories, or am I saying the same thing over and over again? Then I'll go back to the AI chat and brainstorm post ideas to help me fill the categories that are important and I've been neglecting. No more posting just to post 🙅♀️ #BufferAPI

Buffer's most memorable brand content has nothing to do with social media scheduling. It's about their salary transparency as an employer. They run an 'Open' hub on their website, where they publish every employee’s  individual salary – alongside the company’s finances, revenue projections, product roadmap, company handbook, and more too. Then there are the blogs. CEO Joel Gascoigne has written several detailed explainers on the thinking behind their salaries over the years – most recently an 8,000-word piece walking through how the company’s salary system has evolved over the last 10 years, with a ton of detail on their approach, as well as sharing the very real mistakes made along the way.  Strong opinions create memorable brands. And content that dives into the thinking behind those opinions provides the trust – you can't fake this level of transparency, and your competitors can't copy it without actually restructuring how they operate. At face value, this looks like just employer branding. Job candidates see this transparency and want to work there. But employer branding doesn't exist in a vacuum – it shapes how everyone perceives your company. Potential customers see how Buffer treats their team and it tells them something about the company's core values. That openness, that fairness, that willingness to put their beliefs into practice – those associations follow through into how people view the brand overall. You understand what Buffer stands for. You feel an affiliation to the people behind the company. You respect what they're doing. It becomes a brand you want to be associated with, whether you're applying for a job or just choosing a social media tool. It's a great example of company values, of employer branding, AND one of my favourite examples of content marketing – which is why it's featured in this month's edition of Content Ideas. I'll pop the link in the comments.

🚢 Our team just shipped: Buffer's new public API 🥳 ❓What does that mean? You can now: - Schedule and post to all your connected social accounts straight from Claude (just plug in Buffer's MCP) - Interact with Buffer and your social accounts right from Claude Code / Terminal / CLI - Build apps of your own to automate your social media ideation or posting in any way you can imagine, or plug Buffer into your vibecoded apps - Hook Buffer up to Zapier or n8n and connect it to thousands of other tools. 🤯 Some crazy cool things people are already doing: - Pointing a script at a specific photo library, letting AI write the captions, and auto-posting the best ones to their travel photo Instagram - Wiring up an "idea engine" that scrapes trending topics and stages drafts in Buffer for their morning review — they just edit and click to post - One of our beta users runs 77 channels across 9 countries through n8n + Google Sheets and our API Basically — if you can dream up an idea that relates to posting on social with automation or AI, you can plug it in to Buffer and make it happen. [This post was completed in Claude: Drafted, sent to Buffer, and scheduled to go out at an optimal time ✨] #BufferAPI
