Sam Sanders shared thisGenerative AI is now part of everyday work - but most people aren’t using it to its full potential. With only 27% of the UK workforce having received any AI training, confidence is often higher than capability, creating real risks and missed opportunities. KPMG UK's 'Realising the Full Potential of Copilot' programme helps teams move beyond basic prompting and start using Copilot as a truly transformational tool. Through three focused, one hour webinars, participants learn how to integrate Copilot into complex workflows, apply advanced prompting techniques, build productive habits and innovate safely within ethical AI frameworks. Equip your workforce to use Copilot confidently, creatively and responsibly - and turn everyday tasks into real strategic value. Find out more here: http://spkl.io/6042AFQMm

Sam Sanders shared thisCitizen experience isn’t improving - because digital delivery alone isn’t enough. KPMG UK's Public Sector CEE 2026 research shows progress has stalled as transformation focuses on touchpoints, not the system behind them. Real change comes from system alignment: ➡️ Remember me: joined‑up data and services ➡️ Recognise me: services designed around real lives ➡️ Respect me: digital, AI and human support working together When public services operate as one connected ecosystem, outcomes improve for citizens and staff alike. Sam Sanders shared thisCitizen expectations are rising – but public sector experience is flatlining. KPMG’s flagship 2026 Citizen Experience Excellence Report has now launched, which sets out why incremental digital improvements are no longer enough. Based on insights from 30,000+ UK citizens, the research shows that meaningful progress only happens when services move beyond isolated digital delivery to system alignment – where data, workflows, policy and operating models are designed end‑to‑end around real citizen journeys. If we want services that truly remember, recognise and respect people – this is the shift. 👉 Read the full report: http://spkl.io/6041AFQzJ

Sam Sanders reposted thisSam Sanders reposted this1B - Competition or collaboration? This session, chaired by Sharona Friedman, President & CEO, Global Institute of Sport (and IHE Board Member), brought together speakers Cheryl Watson, VP Education, TechnologyOne, Sam Sanders, Head of Education, Skills & Productivity, KPMG UK, Ben Jordan, Director of Strategy, UCAS, Liam Earney Managing Director of Higher Education and Research, Jisc, and Steffan Davies, Chief Executive Officer, AD Education They were asked to explore the question as to whether institutions should compete to differentiate or collaborate to share resources in the current context of financial pressure and the potential of a shrinking sector. In particular, what student choice means to students now, how their perceptions and needs are evolving, and how student choice can be protected in each approach. Lots of thoughts were shared, but two key messages were: 1) It's not necessarily always a choice between competition *or* collaboration, it could also be competition *and* collaboration! 2) Students need to be at the heart of any decisions, with their voices listened to, and the impact on them taken into consideration. #IHE2025

Sam Sanders reacted on thisSam Sanders reacted on thisToday was the last day of my interim assignment at Middlesex University. Thank you to Shân Wareing for the amazing opportunity to become part of the MDX family. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I started in July 2024 as interim COO, on a six-month contract, and I am leaving 21 months later as the interim Executive Lead for Finance. When I joined, the University was about to post a large deficit: in 2025/26 it is anticipated that MDX will have a surplus for the first time since 2019/20. It has been a fantastic team effort to get to this point. I would like to thank all my colleagues, past and present, who have supported me, and taught me so much. It has been a privilege to be part of the University’s journey. For the next few months, I will be returning to semi-retirement. If you think my skills and experience could support you, or anyone in your network, as a consultant or interim, please contact me. MDX gave me the opportunity to return to my professional services roots, and play an active role in the University’s international affairs, which I have really enjoyed. As a result, I would be particularly interested in supporting a university to maximise their potential in transnational education and international student recruitment.

Outstandingly capable, supportive, and energetic, Tim has successfully led and delivered a vast number of essential and challenging initiatives. Our full permanent executive team will be in place with the arrival of Byron Hoo in a couple of weeks, and it’s time to thank Tim and wish him well on his next interim adventure (hopefully with some time between, for tennis, dog walking, and family). A personal milestone too. My colleagues remembered my birthday!

A recent survey from the National Audit Office revealed that over 86% of government and public sector officials see real value in partnering with external consultancies. This aligns strongly with what we’re seeing across the UK Public Sector consulting market - especially within the NHS, Defence, and Infrastructure sectors. Demand for specialist capability, innovation and delivery support continues to rise, and it’s clear that consultancies are playing an increasingly critical role in helping government bodies meet complex transformations. With this momentum, we’re forecasting continued strong consulting spend from the UK government into 2026. #PublicSector #Consulting #NHS #Defence #Infrastructure #UKGov #Transformation

Back in September, the brilliant Anna M. Myburgh (Company Secretary at Acteon) and I ran a workshop at the The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland's Subsidiary Governance Conference on implementing effective governance frameworks. We've now written up our thinking for the CGI's Governance & Compliance Magazine 📝(link below) The central question: what separates governance frameworks that actually work from ones that just tick a box? We borrowed an analogy from Atul Gawande's The Checklist Manifesto ✅ Gawande found that hospitals full of skilled professionals still had "avoidable failures" - not from lack of expertise, but because processes got overlooked in complex environments. His surgical checklist transformed outcomes by making good practice practical and embedded. There's a parallel with subsidiary governance. As Anna puts it: "A dynamic governance framework enables rather than restricts. It connects compliance obligations with commercial realities and equips governance professionals to act proactively." The test is simple: in a crisis, would your team actually reach for your governance framework? Does your real decision-making match what's written down? 🤔 This reflects what we try to do at Complete Projects. Whether working with multinationals on subsidiary structures or charities on governance reviews, we consistently find the same pattern: well-intentioned policies that nobody follows - not because people are ignoring them, but because they were developed in isolation from how the organisation actually operates. The challenge isn't writing better policies. It's embedding governance into how decisions actually get made 🎯 👉 We've created an assessment tool to help you stress-test your own framework - link in the article. And if you're wrestling with any governance challenges, I'm always happy to chat. https://lnkd.in/eBgsi9ua

Why Simplification is becoming TPRM’s Strongest Control For many organisations, efficiency in TPRM is still treated as a risk in itself, as if speeding up decisions must inevitably weaken control. But in our work with leading FS institutions, we’re seeing the opposite unfold. When teams step back and redesign the operating model, simplification becomes a source of rigor. It removes unnecessary variation, eliminates manual friction, and frees risk teams to focus on the decisions that matter most. Across recent programmes, we’re supporting clients to rebuild TPRM around three foundational capabilities: 🔹 A single, standardised data model that provides one language for assessing all third parties 🔹 End-to-end digital workflows with embedded validation and transparent ownership at every step 🔹 Continuous monitoring enabled by AI-driven analytics, surfacing early signals long before they become issues The results are compelling - Faster insight, fewer blind spots, more consistent control delivered with a fraction of today’s manual effort. Because efficiency isn’t about taking shortcuts. It’s about cutting waste, elevating quality, and strengthening resilience across the supply chain. Where could your TPRM team unlock more time, and raise the standard of control by redesigning how the work gets done? --- At Efficio, we partner with FS&I and other Procurement and Risk leaders to reimagine how TPRM delivers value. That means moving away from fragmented, manual oversight and building connected, intelligent control environments that combine clarity, speed, and consistency. If this direction resonates, we’d welcome the conversation. --- #Efficio #RiskTransformation #DigitalTPRM #AIinGovernance #EfficiencyAndControl #FSI
