Henning Sanden shared thisAmazing work by my student Zoe!Henning Sanden shared thisHey LinkedIn! Long time, no see! Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of completing a mentorship with Henning Sanden. Over a total of 8 weeks, I completed about 11 studies under his guidance. I learned so much each week, including how to do a proper portrait, anatomy, and even figure sculpting. The first image is from week 1 and 4, while the second is an accumulation of my sculpts week 5 through 8.

When I started a in stop-motion studio back in 2007, I’d have given anything for a roadmap. So here’s mine... Tools: Dragonframe, DSLR , LED panels, Wire, Plasticine, paper plus coffee! Books: 'The Animator’s Survival Kit' by Richard Williams will teach you everything about bringing characters to life. Approach: The important thing is to go easy on yourself and expectations. Plan, plan, plan and then plan some more. Test and Test again. Ten seconds of animation is a triumph. Stop-motion rewards patience and creativity over expensive kit. So if you’re just beginning, focus on observing, watch other stop-motion animators, develop your own style, the tools will follow. #StopMotion #AnimationTools #LearnAnimation #AplusCStudios

Last week I took a crazy quick look at the new Bifrost Rigid Body Dynamics feature within Maya and did a quick tutorial over at the MayaGuy channel on youtube. This week (tomorrow) will we continue to keep it simple but progress a little into instancing and RBD, creating this rock fall (which I rendered in Arnold) Good to be back! #autodeskmaya #maya #3d #bifrost

Avoiding complacency is crucial for advancing in your compositing career. Staying too comfortable in your current role can dull your passion and creativity over time. Embrace new challenges and learning opportunities to maintain your enthusiasm for the art of visual effects. Pushing your boundaries can lead to greater financial rewards and personal growth in this dynamic industry.

Another quick Archie post! This just demonstrates the VariableFK movement a little more. Giving the animator four controls per tentacle that through the magic of maths, and a custom Maya node, can be positioned anywhere along the length of the limb as well as deciding how many joints along the limb you want to control. Each control's numbers also work additively so two controls can move the same joint. All of this allows for a very dynamic and fun system to work with, though it does take some time to get used to. It was the most simple method I could come up with to provide realistic movements without needing to animate 20 separate controls. Let me know what you think. I'm also planning on doing some more custom animations to show it off better when I have full textures, and time to animate. So let me know if there is anything particular you'd like to see!

Everything about this feels unnecessary. Which is exactly why it makes sense. The StroloStove… bringing a fire pit absolutely everywhere it shouldn’t be. ⸻ We made this to answer a simple question… how far have these tools really come? As an animation and production studio, we’re constantly hearing about AI as both a breakthrough and a threat. So rather than speculate, we decided to test it ourselves. Could we concept, script, and produce something polished, absurd, and oddly believable… using AI as a core part of the process? What started out as a ridiculous idea shared between friends on a freezing day in the city… quickly turned into something we kept coming back to and cracking ourselves up. The StroloStove is the result. A portable fire pit no one asked for, brought to life with surprising realism. Well, as “real” as one gets with a few hours of work and a handful. of burned AI credits. Part experiment, part exploration, part excuse to make something ridiculous. This wasn’t about replacing craft. It was about understanding the tools… where they hold up, where they fall apart, and where our professional taste, judgment, and storytelling still matter most. Maybe it’s a glimpse of what’s coming. Maybe it’s just a well-produced joke. Either way, we had a good time finding out! This is just the start of a much bigger conversation… and we’re looking forward to continuing it with all of you. ⸻ Built with: ChatGPT / OpenAI ElevenLabs Flows (Using models: Veo3, Veo3.1, Veo3.1Fast, GenAI-4.5, Sora 2, NanoBanana 2, ElevenLabs VO, ElevenLabs Music) #ArtificialIntelligence #GenerativeAI #AIVideo #AIFilmmaking #CreativeTechnology #Innovation #FutureOfWork #Storytelling #ContentCreation #VideoProduction #Animation #MotionDesign #CreativeStudio #Advertising #BrandContent #DesignThinking #Experimentation #AprilFools #FakeProduct #Parody Solo Brands Atomic Kid Studios, LLC ElevenLabs OpenAI

Have you ever wanted to sketch a level idea in Photoshop and instantly turn it into a playable 3D environment? 👀 For the past few weeks I’ve been developing a procedural dungeon generation tool using SideFX Software Houdini and Unreal Engine 5 by Epic Games . The workflow starts from a very simple PSD sketch. From there, the system procedurally generates a full 3D level with customizable layouts, props, bridges, columns and more! The goal behind the tool was to create a fast and flexible workflow where level designers can quickly sketch the overall shape of a level, define areas for props, walls, enemies or gameplay spaces, and let the system automatically generate the environment procedurally. To showcase the system, I created a procedural dungeon inspired by games like Diablo IV, DnD settings and classic dungeon crawlers ⚔️ If you’re into procedural workflows, dungeon crawlers, Diablo IV or tabletop RPGs, feel free to connect or reach out! Huge thanks to the TECHART WORLDS team, Adrián Pérez González and Julen García Calvo for the guidance and support throughout the process 🙌 Hope you like it! 😄 #Houdini #UnrealEngine5 #TechArt #ProceduralGeneration #GameDev #DnD #Fantasy #RPG

A quick test exploring the process of turning a sketch into a 3D render. It’s always interesting seeing how closely you can match the original — and where things start to drift. Some of the building details tend to shift or get lost in translation, which can be a bit frustrating when you’re trying to stay true to the initial design. Still, a useful exercise in figuring out where the gaps are between 2D intent and 3D execution.

🦆 With all this rain we’ve been having in the UK… It’s provided plenty of reference for fluid and FLIP simulations, so I thought I’d share this very early work-in-progress of a classic ocean splash, created using the standard Houdini Ocean and FLIP tools. 🌊 Would love to hear any feedback or tips from others working with FLIP sims. #Houdini #FluidSimulation #VFX #MotionDesign #Procedural #WorkInProgress #cgacohort

Animation Pro Tip: Day 97 Why every animator really needs this to survive 2025 and onwards👇🏾 Let’s be real; remote work isn’t going anywhere. The question now isn’t if you’ll work remotely… It’s whether you actually know how to excel at it. The animation world has changed for good. Studios in LA are reviewing shots with teams in Seoul and London. Freelancers are animating AAA game cinematics from home setups that rival small studios. Entire films are being made start to finish without anyone stepping into the same building. If you’re not fluent in remote collaboration tools, you’re already a few steps behind. Let’s dive into what separates pros from the rest: 1️⃣ Screen Sharing That Works Smoothly Zoom, Teams, or Frame.io; whatever you use, learn it inside out. Being able to present clearly and troubleshoot live is what turns you from “freelancer” into a trusted collaborator. 2️⃣ Real-Time Feedback Systems Tools like SyncSketch, ShotGrid, or Flow can shave days off review cycles. Directors drop frame-specific notes, you fix them fast, and the project keeps moving. It’s the kind of efficiency studios notice. 3️⃣ File Sync & Version Control If your files aren’t organized, synced, and versioned properly; it’ll catch up to you. Perforce, Git LFS, or even Dropbox Business… pick one, master it. Clean pipelines keep productions and reputations intact. Pro-to-Pro Advice • Audit your setup. Fast internet, a solid mic, good lighting; these aren’t extras anymore. They’re part of your professional toolkit. • Learn your tools deeply. Keyboard shortcuts, annotation tricks, screen-share settings. They all add up. • Communicate clearly. A short Loom video or annotated frame can save everyone from another meeting. • Stay visible. In remote work, silence = uncertainty. Share progress. Flag blockers early. Remote collaboration isn’t a phase. It’s the new production backbone. The animators who thrive aren’t just great at animation; they’re great at working with people anywhere in the world. So, what remote tools or workflows have leveled up your projects lately? Always curious what’s working for other pros 👇🏾 #animatingwithselormx #animation #VFX #3danimation #remotework #productionpipeline #animationcareers #creativeindustry #futureofwork #digitalproduction
