  • It’s day two of The London Book Fair, and HUK has been busy! Our teams have hosted over 1,000 meetings on our stand, and Team Hodder & Stoughton marched through the aisles to highlight Wet Ink, an empowering, timeless story of self-discovery that speaks to the power of community and the different shades of desire within us all. Our volunteers have also been chatting with visitors about all things #RaisingReaders, our urgent and long-term campaign to raise awareness of the decline in the number of children reading for fun. The brilliant Mike Gayle also dropped by, who is Author of the Fair at #LBF26. Inspired by our Raising Readers campaign, we asked him to share his thoughts on what reading means to him and his experience reading as a child. Listen to his thoughts here: https://lnkd.in/exErEN2F We’ll see you all again for round three tomorrow! #LondonBookFair #RaisingReaders #ChangingTheStory

  • It was great to see Alice Oseman drop by the HUK stand at The London Book Fair this afternoon! 🍂 Alice, aside from being a bestselling author-illustrator and a BAFTA-nominated and Emmy-winning screenwriter of the Heartstopper series, is also Creator of the Fair at LBF 2026. She joined David Shelley on our stand, which features the newly revealed Heartstopper Volume 6 jacket, the final book in the series, and even had time to sign our #RaisingReaders pledge wall with some very familiar faces… #Heartstopper #LBF26

Almost 10,000 authors, including authors across Hachette UK, have come together to publish an empty book protesting the theft of books and content by tech companies to train AI models at the start of The London Book Fair. Don’t Steal This Book is a plea from authors to the UK government to take a stance against Big Tech stealing content – without permission or payment – to build their AI models. The authors are also calling on ministers to rule out proposals in the AI and copyright consultation which would make it easier for companies to do this in the future. The UK government is considering legalising this large-scale theft. We urge them in the strongest possible terms to rule this out. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eUqXp-PR #DontStealThisBook

  • ‘If you’re not moving forwards, you’re moving backwards’ - Ant Simnica, Hachette UK. We’re in the Author HQ at The London Book Fair this afternoon to hear the 'People-Powered Publishing’ panel. The panel featured our very own Ant Simnica, who shared his thoughts on drawing on the power of reader-led discovery through the Libraro platform and the importance of ensuring that everyone, everywhere, is able to see themselves in books. The panel also discussed our partnership with Libraro Prize, the way it provides a platform for fresh voices to emerge and how readers and writers can find community and shape culture. Understanding our consumers is vital to our business, and partnerships such as this help us find new ways to amplify stories that resonate with them. • Today, we announced the retirement of Group Finance Director, Pierre de Cacqueray, along with the news that Matt Wright has been appointed as his successor. Jo Westbrook's promotion to CEO of Hachette UK Distribution will make her the first female CEO of a book supply chain business. David Shelley, CEO at Hachette UK and Hachette Book Group US, said: ‘I would like to pay tribute to Pierre, who has had an immeasurable impact on Hachette in his 29 years here, and has truly helped shape our group. On a personal level, he has been a brilliant business partner for the past nine years and I have so appreciated his vast expertise, his precision, and his humour. We all wish him a very happy and fulfilling retirement, and a rewarding next chapter. Matt Wright has done a remarkable job leading our Distribution business for the past 16 years. He has grown and developed it, and has shown a terrific mixture of commercial acumen, strategic flair and humanity. I am extremely excited to be working with him even more closely in his new role as Group CFO and can think of no one more capable of taking on the baton from Pierre. I also wanted to congratulate Jo who has led the operations at Hachette UK Distribution so successfully, and whose dynamism and determination to give 100% to our authors, client publishers and booksellers has always marked her out, as has her leadership of the remarkable team at HUK Distribution. I am thrilled that she will be stepping up as CEO.’ Read more: https://lnkd.in/e2UQ_NYi
