If I could redo anything from my years, it would have been to network more effectively and with more humility. You're infinitely more successful on the back of your network, and you're able to advance yourself much faster by crowdsourcing opinion (especially as you grow to respect the origin of that opinion). Belong to peer groups, join local support / interest groups, talk to everyone, welcome information (good or bad) because it all makes you better, and provides far more opportunity in the future.
