In the 2022 movie Day Shift, Paige Jablonski, the daughter of the protagonist Bud Jablonski (played by Jamie Foxx), plays a first-person shooter mobile game on a tablet in the scene where they are in the yogurt shop. The weapon looks like a futuristic gun, and the enemies appear to be robots. The HUD consists of an ammo/clip counter on the top left of the screen, what looks like a green health bar in the center top, and a minimap on the top right. There is something that looks like a virtual directional pad on the bottom left of the screen, and a virtual fire button on the bottom right.

The way the left "analog stick" moves without her thumb moving makes me wonder if its a real game or not. Commented Apr 15, 2023 at 12:33
  • My guess is that it would be some footage from an unreleased/prototype game by Netflix Commented Apr 15, 2023 at 19:57
  • I feel like there would be an article about the game played somewhere. If this was a real game, there would probably be a shout out of some sort. Commented Dec 19, 2024 at 0:43

This is almost certainly a dummy game for the movie.

As Timmy Jim mentioned, the left "joystick" moves despite a lack of movement from Paige's thumb.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet is that despite Paige clicking the fire button multiple times, we only see the gun fire twice and the fire button light up twice, even though she clicks the button multiple times in between.

About the firing thing, I think it could be a cool down thing, cause I've seen that sometimes in games. It does get annoying at times, but you never know if that feature was "implemented" in the game. It doesn't really matter, cause I think the game is fake, just an interesting fact I found out.
