🔭 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 | COSMOS 2596 back in sight! 🇷🇺 On 18 November, one of Aldoria’s optical stations picked up COSMOS 2596 (Mozhayets-6), a small experimental satellite built by the Mozhaiskiy Military Space Academy and launched on 13 September 2025 alongside a GLONASS payload. After launch, COSMOS 2596 (65589) quickly became "the lost satellite": listed in the catalog, but with no publicly available orbit data for weeks. Since then, it has raised a lot of interest in the community as a faint, hard-to-see object in medium Earth orbit (MEO). Our track from 18 November adds an independent observation of this satellite and confirms that Aldoria’s ground network is able to detect and follow small, dim objects in MEO, not only the usual bright targets in LEO and GEO. Beyond the technical curiosity, this case is a reminder of something simple: if one satellite can "disappear" from public data for weeks, you cannot rely on a single catalog to understand what is really happening in orbit. Aldoria Orbital Watch transforms these snapshots into actionable orbital intelligence, reinforcing operators’ situational awareness and strategic autonomy in space. 🛰🇩🇪 Germany is set to publish its first "space safety and security strategy" today and the timing couldn’t be more relevant. An investigation by Süddeutsche Zeitung, WDR and Norddeutscher Rundfunk sheds light on how Russian and Chinese satellites have been approaching and interfering with German space assets. Aldoria was asked to provide independent tracking data to help document what is really happening in orbit: unusual proximity manoeuvres, attempts to get close enough to listen in, and suspected jamming episodes affecting communications. For us, this is exactly why Space Situational Awareness (SSA) matters: giving governments and armed forces a clear picture of what’s going on above our heads, so they can react based on facts, not assumptions. A big thank you to Ben H., Manuel Bewarder, Florian Flade, Palina Milling & Sina-Maria Schweikle for the conversations and for putting a spotlight on Aldoria’s work. 🔭 GIF: Observation in GEO orbit of the German satellite COMSATBW-1 by our observation network, acquired on 19 November. 🇫🇷 Today, we’re proud to announce RAMSES, a new programme we are launching with ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab and the support of France 2030. Backed by €12M, RAMSES will deploy a global network of multispectral telescope stations dedicated to Space Situational Awareness (SSA). Five stations, operating day and night, will track and characterise satellites and debris across all key orbits. The goal is simple and ambitious at the same time: more precise data, controlled in Europe, to protect strategic space assets for civil, defence and commercial actors. This project builds on Aldoria’s existing network and ONERA’s long-standing expertise in space surveillance systems such as GRAVES and the future PROVIDENCE sensor. 🔭 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 🛰 On November 12, one of our optical stations captured Sentinel-1D in orbit, days after its launch on November 4, 2025 aboard Ariane 6 (VA265) from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou. Part of the Copernicus EEA programme led by the European Commission with European Space Agency - ESA, Sentinel-1D carries an advanced C-band SAR to deliver day-and-night, all-weather imagery. Built by Thales Alenia Space with radar contributions from Airbus Defence and Space, it will support monitoring of sea ice, oil spills, ground deformation, and maritime traffic (serving environmental protection and public safety). For Aldoria, this observation illustrates our ability to track newly-launched operational satellites with precision. Our mission is to watch the orbital domain so Europe’s flagship missions can operate safely in an increasingly crowded sky. 🌍 Sentinel-1D watches Earth. 👁 Aldoria watches the orbit. 🔭 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 On 2 November 2025, from one of our optical stations, we tracked four LEO satellites sharing the same sky while flying on very different "floors" of low Earth orbit. 🛰 Quick context: - STARLING-1 & STARLING-2 (NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration & Space Rendezvous Laboratory): a pair within a 4-CubeSat formation launched on Rocket Lab Electron (2023) to prove autonomous navigation and deconfliction around 555 km. In our frame both move rightward, around 70 km (!) - apart clean demo of autonomy at work. - QIANFAN-20: part of China’s emerging Qianfan / Spacesail (G60 Starlink) broadband network by SSST (with support from Shanghai authorities and the CAS), flying a polar orbit near around 870 km toward a planned (>15,000-satellite architecture). - HULIANWANG DIGUI-33: an operational node of Guowang / SatNet (China SatNet with CASIC/CAST), cruising at around 1,170 km within a blueprint targeting (approximately 13,000 satellites across low and higher LEO tiers). ℹ Why it matters: - Richness in difference: one image, around 550 ➡ 1,170 km - formation flying tech demos, polar broadband layers, and high-tier internet shells. - Collision-aware autonomy: on-orbit deconfliction is moving from theory to practice. Exactly where traffic is busiest. - Independent SSA: Aldoria’s sensors and algorithms turn mixed constellations into reliable orbital intelligence for civil, commercial, and defense users. 🔭 𝗔𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗢𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 🇫🇷 🇮🇳 On 27 October 2025, our global telescope network tracked SARAL* (NORAD 39086), the Franco-Indian ocean-altimetry mission that's still delivering after a planned 5-year lifetime...and counting. 🛰 Quick context: SARAL rides a sun-sync orbit carrying two independent payloads on an ISRO platform: - AltiKa: the first Ka-band altimeter-radiometer for sharper sea-surface height, wave height, and coastal/inland water measurements. - Argos-3: a third-gen receiver collecting environnemental data from thousands of platforms. Precision orbit knowledge comes from DORIS, with laser ranging via LRA. Launched by PLSV on 25 February 2013, SARAL picked up the relay from Jason-1 and extends the historic ENVISAT track. ℹ Why it matters: - Climate time series: Continuity is essential. Consistent topography records underpin sea-level trends and circulation models. - Operational oceanography: Data feed daily analyses for agencies like Copernicus Marine and met services. - Sharper eyes at the edge: Ka-band improves resolution near coasts, over ice/snow, and on rivers & lakes, critical for glaciology and hydrology. ⏱ Longevity: Twelve years on, SARAL keeps the beat, evidence that smart Franco-Indian engineering can outlast the spec and keep science (and services) flowing.
