When they stop using garbage recycled cameras and AI slop to compensate the photos, ill think about it.
Personally I'm really excited for my Fold 8 (first foldable). Probably the most excited I've been for a phone since the iPhone 4S and before that my Sony Erricson W800. Why does there have to be so much tribalism over phones?
what a cute phone + i am waiting for the oppo
find w and transsion tecno or itel to follow suit

Everything highe nd on it and use 6 inch as their main display and 8 inch for their forkabke display, i mean the idea is good but their implementation lacking. Also scrap their current ultra, it s@cks, nobody likes the square screen, lol
They should scap the ultra and just make this bigger as their uotra. I.e. a 6inch -> 8incher should be they zfold ultra and the current 5.4 -> 7.6 be their normal foldable.
The current ultra makes no sense. Especially if there was a true 8 incher @ 4:3. This is a much more natural aspect ratio both for productivity and entertainment. They should scrap other aspect ratios.
And if anything even use it for their trip fold, or the slightly more elongate 3:2 to be their trifold standard.
This phone does not deserve the same rating as the magic V6 and find n6. It's worse in almost every way and more expensive when taking into account the hardware and deals available, at least in the UK.
It feels like a first gen that's been made so they can fix all the issues over the next couple of years and brag about how much improvement they've made.
Phones went to a taller aspect ratio for a reason, no need to go backwards now. I would prefer a folding phone just to feel like a regular phone when folded, then I can make it big when I feel like it. I'm happy with black bars as the final video size is essentially the same anyway. But then multitasking is much better

After trying the Z Fold8, there was actually no difference in video size from Fold8 Ultra (at least when you rotate it). Just less letterboxing, in case the aesthetic matters.
The cover screen's aspect ratio is cute and that may be a selling point.
I suggest you buy an Oppo Find N5 or Samsung Z Fold7 instead.
It looks really cheap, no telephoto lens, no under-display fingerprint scanner, and severe thermal throttling... just an average mid-range phone priced at $2,000.

GSM Arena quote: the best camera for this set up. Then the review shows it's not so good. Come on seriously Chinese manufacturers have made much better foldable phones with even zoom cameras.
Great phone, preordered it. Of course, the people with barely $300 in their bank accounts will keep complaining about the prices and specs like usual. Keep chineseing your $200 phone that you bought 10 years ago folks, nobody cares bout your opinions

Huawei Fanboy, 30 Jul 2026Huawei Pura X Max > Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8Can't deny that. About 1.5mm thicker and almost 30g heavier. Not sure if that's a good thing, though. Not even worth debating who'd want to have a phone with a Kirin processor. I wouldn't even buy a $50 phone with one of those.
