wait…doesn’t z fold 8 have sillicon battery???
Coz the author says “ only 200 mAh smaller than the new Si/C pack inside the Z Fold8 Ultra.“
Also the spec sheets in gsm arena say sillicon tech used in base fold but almost any other sources or even mrwhosetheboss says it has sillicon tech.
What’s the reality ??😭🤔
yalim, 30 Jul 2026I expected the inner screen to be better in media consumption in both 16:9(TV shows) and 22:9(... moreActually, there can be quite a big difference depending on the type of content you watch.
Here is a comparison between the S26 Ultra (6.9", 19.5:9) and the Z Fold 8 (7.6", 4:3) showing actual content size without cropping the picture:
4:3 Display: 4.82 inches vs. 7.60 inches
16:9 Display: 5.90 inches vs. 6.98 inches
2.35:1 Display: 6.81 inches vs. 6.61 inches
As you can see, when watching content in a typical movie format, the Z Fold 8 has a small disadvantage compared to the S26 Ultra. However, for anything else, like TV shows or older media, the Fold offers a much larger image.
Samsung does something different and it still can't win. I imagine there's no telephoto on the Fold because it's new. Maybe next years model will have it.
I like the new design. Huawei were onto something with their foldable.
Throttles like ALL flagship Android phones , full of bloatware and costs more than an Iphone , who will actually buy this thing ?
Anonymous, 30 Jul 2026Samsung loves customers like you the most because you wont complain even If they dont increase... moreIf Samsung's brand loyalty rubs you the wrong way, I'm going to clue you into a reality that is going to make you grind your teeth down to the gums. The average consumer will be introduced to si/c technology by Samsung and they will associate it with Samsung. I've already seen this happen and it wasn't even the intent. That's the power of a strong brand that isn't built by forum warriors and spec chasers.
It's the reason some average consumers refer to all tablets as ipads or all wireless buds as airpods. It's the reason more popular car manufacturers were credited for brining technology to the market that was first used by Infiniti.
You're in an echo chamber here. Enjoy! Like others, you will learn your position has no impact on Samsung in any way, shape or form.
Hanif Fikri, 30 Jul 2026Rating high as expected from Samsung flagship always above 4.4Why not 4.6?
The only downsides are that it costs as much as a used car, but it doesn't have a telephoto camera, it overheats like crazy and gets warm under prolonged use, and the audio is bad.. Nothing important...🤣
They could have even given it a 4.7.
Hello.
Where have you got info about Si-C in Z Fold8 Ultra?
Official site says Li-Ion.
Thank you.
Do they actually sell a 1 TB version with only 12 GB of RAM? I have only seen a 16 GB version?
Also, I am pretty sure the Fold8 also has a silicon carbon battery, not only the Ultra
Finally my dreamed Surface Duo 2 arrives ;) even if i still would have prefered 2 screens
That is NOT compact. Both the width and the height matter. A narrow phone that is too long is uncomfortable to use one-handed. A short phone that is too wide is uncomfortable to use one-handed.
Anatomically speaking, a phone that can be comfortably used one-handed must not be wider than 65mm and taller than 145mm. Anything beyond that forces you to stretch your fingers and move the phone in your palm to reach the corners.
But that's not all, blocky phones with flat side rails are uncomfortable to use. Phones with curved backs used to rest more naturally in your palm. Phones with flat surface (copying the iPhone) are a regression. The funny thing is that Apple themselves are adding curves to their phones again but the other manufacturers haven't gotten the memo yet.
And last bit not least, the corner radius of the display matters. Rounded displays like iPhones don't poke into your palm and allow a firm grip that doesn't become uncomfortable unlike square phones like Samsung (and this phone is extremely square, more than the S26 Ultra which is already pushing it). It's even worse that Samsung has very sharp frames. They've ever so slightly softened them compared to the S22 to S25 series which were palm cutter but it's still bad.
Always funny to hear broke people complaining about prices. Like, dude, none of you are the center of the universe, samsung didnt make those phones specifically for you, they made for those who can afford it. Plenty of people call Porsche, Benz, BMW, etc. expensive but they sell like hot cakes. Why? Because those calling those cars expensive were never able to afford them in the first place, and the ones who can afford them, buy them. You gotta be able to afford them first before your opinions hold any value. Get the similarity? Good, that means you have a functional brain
DP1963, 30 Jul 2026Unlike the original Google Pixel Fold which also was more of a 'book style' foldable... moreNo, I've toyed with one at an electronic store (They have both new foldables on display during the pre-order period) and it can stay partly unfolded in several angles.
Would love to get as high as this website's staff who gave this a 4.6 out of 5 rating.
very shocking to see this get 4.6 stars tbh
im sure the build quality is fine so is software but battery and especially the camera are disappointing, even the fold7 camera was not enough and downgrading it to this is a joke for the price. So pity Huawei doesn't have decent chipset, seems we wont have any foldable without so many compromises anytime soon
Lugia4k, 30 Jul 2026When they stop using garbage recycled cameras and AI slop to compensate the photos, ill think ... moreYou are right, camera is really bad...
Anonymous, 30 Jul 2026Because they used a smaller panel, if they were to use an 8 inch panel for the inner screen ev... moreAnd if they were to use an 8 inch panel for the inner screen the outer screen would feel awkward because you cannot reach the top anymore
Unlike the original Google Pixel Fold which also was more of a 'book style' foldable, this device (from what I've read elsewhere) can only fold or open completely with nothing in between.
I expected the inner screen to be better in media consumption in both 16:9(TV shows) and 22:9(movies) compared to an s26ultra. It basically has the same usable screen for movies. Probably the main reason is; this device is positioned to match iphone fold in every aspect. Same constraints are valid for iphone fold's screen dimensions, too.
