Also, going for 1080p with LTPO panel results in superior battery life. As much as I like the 4K screen on previous 21:9 Xperia phones, there's no getting away from the fact that it uses a lot of battery juice and very few apps natively support 4K resolution in the first place. Frankly, I don't miss having the 4K screen again, and I'm saying that as an Xperia fan. I rather see the return of the CinemaWide 21:9 screen panel (which is still great for cinema movies) than the return of 4K resolution.

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2026Zenfone and Xperia never compromised when it came to providing the latest chip Is there any major company that has compromised on delivering the latest chips on their flagships other than Google?
Very impressive image quality but 2x and 6x 28/26MP detail rendition leaves a bit to be desired. They are quite soft and the effect of diffraction is definitely felt in these samples.
The 10x camera is a lot better than I expected, with a good amount of sharpness, but unfortunately the slight haziness from its light reflections seems unavoidable even with its patented prism design. Low light performance is exceptional but this was the case with X8 Ultra as well.
A very well-rounded camera setup overall, and in a typical Oppo fashion the colour rendition and other general image processing consistency will improve in the next 2-3 months or so.

No. Focal length is a property of a lens. You can use the same lens on a different camera with a different sensor size. It still has the same focal length. So it doesn't depend on the sensor at all!
You are talking about the field of view equivalent focal length on a full frame camera. But that's irrelevant because entrance pupil diameter= focal length/ f-number and the focal length is listed in the exif data. So it's not necessary to calculate the focal length.
Of course one can define a function called focal length that depends on the full frame field of view equivalent focal length and sensor size.
One could also define a function called focal length that depends on the weather and a weather equivalent focal length (let's say that 24mm during rain is used as often as 50mm during a bright day, so the rain equivalent focal length of 50mm is 24mm)....
Doesn't change the fact that it is a property of the lens that doesn't change when you choose a different sensor and also doesn't change when it rains.

Obviously it doesn... moreFocal length is related to sensor size / crop factor (!), which again determines effective lens diameter, so you are not correct here, unless we are talking about identical sensors, where crop factor is equal.
Case and point: S23U and Oppo FX9U. Both have 230 mm equivalent focal length (10x zoom), with different sensors and crop factors, hence S23U is inferior light gathering device, it will require f/2.8 to closely match Oppo's find, keeping their 35-mm focal lengths equal with their existing sensors, respectively.

From some of the youtube comparison videos I saw, I think Vivo has a better and brighter display but it cannot dim as much as Oppo.
Most of the photos taken by Vivo looks better at first sight due to vibrance and vivid processing whereas Oppo takes neutral photos which requires editing.
But i am pretty sure that better sensors on Oppo will be more helpful no matter how good the processing is on Vivo.
Another Vivo advantage is that it has better speakers too.
But then battery is better on Oppo.
Vivo supports APTX Lossless codec whereas I don't see that information mentioned on the official website of Oppo and on GSMARENA too. For someone like me who uses earphones like Sennheiser, its a big deal.
I think overall Color OS is better than Vivo OS.
Oppo has additional Flash too for telephoto shots.
Vivo has better coated glass for camera lenses and that makes difference in some shooting environments.
You go with either phone, you are gonna miss somethings.
Xiaomi is a good option but I don't even look at it since they choose lesser resolution display. Also the corner curves on the Xiaomi is not my taste, I love boxy design like Samsung Ultra for Displays.
I think this year is the most difficult year to choose one Ultra mobile!!!

EugenM, 22 Apr 2026How was your Xiaomi 14 Ultra so far photo wise? did it get any picture quality upgrades along ... moreIf you ask from the camera perspective I did not notice major improvements but the camera is still good enough for usual photos. The 3x and 5x are marginally smaller sensors compared to today's flagships but they are still doing a good job in bright and average light conditions.
Basically what I feel is that we all usually compare just too much.... But once we have the new device we don't even care about how the other flagships are doing... We no more compare.... Normal people doesn't have that much of time isn't it?
In today's world, for me, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi are equally good in all aspects, minor differences are negligible....
2.5 yrs back when I bought Xiaomi, I actually sold Samsung s24 ultra within 1 month which I had pre booked and bought Xiaomi. The only reason was I wanted photos to look good on the bigger TV screens too, not just on mobile screens. And I felt the difference with Xiaomi vs Samsung. So I am happy with that decision.
