You would need a sat capable phone, like one of those iphones, newer Pixel or Samsung.
If this unrealistic situation is the result of improper planning, then it's on you either way, people properly prepared to going adventuring would have a full proper satellite phone costing hundreds if not over a thousand, not a home tablet that isn't even a rugged tablet.

Who needs this e... moreWhat you described is almost basically the Redmi Pad 2 Pro at an even lower price than what you are asking for, just without NFC and slower UFS 2.
This is basically a decent home gaming tablet, no kid gonna be listening to some FM radio, no need for the other stuff if it's mostly at home.
Or if you plan to use it as your main device, maybe just pair it with a garbo sub $100 phone with all that other feature or I don't know, maybe just use your old device? Total is still cheaper than the Lenovo, and the battery wouldn't be draining away connected to cellular and monitoring notifications.
Repurposing your old device as just for hotspot/notification/banking is the opposite of e-waste, and probably also safer for the banking stuff too, without a whole bunch of random stuff installed.

No sim slot
No audio jack
No fm radio
No GPS!!!
No NFC!!!
I mean come on we customers are dumb but we're not THAT dumb.
Why would anyone buy this hot piece of e-waste over the new Lenovo ThinkTab X11 Gen 1 which has sim slot and all the aforementioned essential features.
This xiaomi tablet is a joke compared to the new Lenovo tablet. Without those essential features it's only a toy. Come on they didn't even include the GPS sensor in the year 2026 wtf?! No Galileo glonass GPS ?! It says right there on the specs page no positioning...
The only problem with the Lenovo tablet it's too expensive at $500 it should be $399 and it would sell like hot cakes.

I had similar experience (but from a tablet and from different brand), and I kept ignoring it until my tablet suddenly died. Went to the repair center, got it checked and they said I need to replace certain chip (I forgot what it was but related to storage).

Irish Dragon, 01 Apr 2026Mi Pad 6 isn't stuck on MIUI, it has Hyper OS. It's also did not lag, while on MIUI. My 6GB version lagged on MIUI. I thought maybe I mis-configured something. So I did a full reset and went with whatever defaults Xiaomi set and still this UI kept lagging randomly. Even the launcher restarts many times I goto homescreen. I heard Hyperos is even worse that MIUI, so didn't upgrade. So yes, it lags out of box.

It's also did not lag, while on MIUI.

Demolition, 30 Mar 2026Yes the LCD screen is good. OLED is always better, but still the screen is nice enough. To me IPS LCD is always better than OLED due to my eye sensitivity to OLED induced cataract and the infamous OLED-conjunctivitis

And then just buy a good Ulefone armor tablet or an older generation xiaomi redmi phone with Snapdragon or dimensity SoC and lots of RAM. Just make sure it has a sim card slot. I would never buy a tablet without sim card slot...
