Meaning certain apps/games will bypass the EQ/Audio Effects completely, depending on the audio configs or APIs used. So, yes, this kind of test is indeed valuable.
I don't really understand what the point of this comparation is because, if you're an android user, you can easily work ur way around thin, harsh, shouty sound with advanced tools (poweramp eq) and advanced audio modes (dvc). Especially on samsung devices. Btw, poweramp eq is especially optimized for samsung s series
I do have the Honor Magic 7 Pro and it does sound really good. The bass is some of the best I've ever heard on a phone. Not sure even the Poco F8 Ultra is better to be honest. Try it guys you won't regret it.
Requesting GSMArena ONCE AGAIN to make a video of the loudest phones. Made this request when this post was put up
Ryan47, 20 Jan 2026The honor magic 7 pro has fantastic speakers,a lot better than the iPhone 16 pro max but it’s ... moreexactly my point of view. the basspunch tells the whole story. a dedicated subwoofer does the trick to deliver way cleaner bass frequencies. albeit the algorythm is more tuned to be more dedicated to 80hz kicks than subbass notes. but this is because it wouldn't make sense to work in an uncontrolled or possibly outside scenario.
The honor magic 7 pro has fantastic speakers,a lot better than the iPhone 16 pro max but it’s still not as good as the Xiaomi K80 ultra,I have all three phones and have tested all three many times.
How the iPhone won this battle is beyond me,it’s good but it’s not in the same class as the honor or k80 ultra
PhoneFreak45, 20 Jan 2026I'm in Canada where it's not officially available. Had to buy grey market. Is okay t... moreNice, I like Canada.
Grey Markets have their own risks and fears, like you can never get it repaired officially. Grey market is what you depend on for parts and most of them are chinese knockoffs. Once again, as Sony is not sold in big numbers, you can never get its grey market parts either. Simple rule, no demand, no supply.
On reading your comment, I checked touchlcdbaba/ lcdkart, an Indian website from where I got a damn good quality (but not genuine) display for my G8x.. Guess what, they don't have anything for Xperia VII.
When I said I never even saw a Sony phone in person, I think you understand the depth of how absent Sony's phones are from India, grey or white. The common Indian wants a cheap do-it-all phone, if he/she wants big time performance, it's a choice between iPhone or Samsung. Sad.

Had to buy grey market. Is okay though, as you save money that way and it still works great. Official availability shouldn't be the end of things IMO.

You're talking to an actual LG G8x owner as opposed to a dude who's all that on the internet. I actually felt the detail and depth in the audio as long as I paired it with the right earphones/headphones.
Downloading FLACs from random sources, it might give you some files which are converted, and not ripped and thus a 40MB file that sounds like a 5MB one. No-Go.
I listen to all sorts of stuff though:- youtube downloads, ripped audio in FLAC, downloaded m4a from Nokia music in 2014 or so, etc. and continue to enjoy the depth and aural feel of all kinds of music including compressed (of certain tracks that I don't own).
Also, I think you're thinking of audiophile as someone who's "filthy rich with a certain degree of audio equipment," and this is completely a false definition.
Audiophile is a "person who focuses on a pure, deep audio quality experience." It was never about money, it was never about mine (equipment) is bigger than yours, or such.

Tofik33, 11 Jan 2026Don't you know that you can have great sound with wireless headphones? Have you heard of ... moreYes, of course, these are Bluetooth codecs and I heard of them a few years back.
The thing is, I'd have to shift my entire ecosystem to it if I'm to enjoy lossless audio.
Firstly, I'll need a phone which has this, which I already have, it has a 990kbps LDAC.
But now all my earphones and headphones need an upgrade. And its far easier said than done when you have about 8-10 of them, of all varieties and prices.
So, you understand my dilemma. Industry just sorta forced their way onto consumers.

Because where I am located, you can't buy any Sony phone, which is ironic because it's the world's most populated country now and the biggest market too.
I have seen Xperia 7 and its predecessors... in pics & videos only.
Anonymous, 02 Jan 2026I would really love to know how you come up with the frequency response graphs as the low bass... moreCame here to leave the same comment, that's the first thing I noticed, frequency response chart 📈 doesn't make any sense for Poco.

Just the truth.

I use ... moreI guess I can't comment on DAC quality since I usually use speakers with my PC for critical listening. However, for lower impedance headphones (so before the quad dac would switch into it's high impedance mode), I don't find a huge difference. My comment was more referring to the idea that upgrades don't exist - for the dac sure, but for people who don't need discreet-DAC levels of quality, the Xperia presents a great upgrade as a general upgrade with all features. If you plan to keep your phone for 5 years+, the extra cost (which in some countries it can actually be cheaper than an iPhone by a lot), is well worth it to get those features in your main phone.
