Don't be fooled. This tablet appears amazing. But after having it a few weeks here are the issues.
Software is janky, lots of strange translation wording which is unclear.
WiFi appears to stutter heavily when streaming a game from the cloud or your PC
The battery life drains amazingly quick
The HDR doesn't work in steaming apps like netflix, Disney or paramount due to it not being certified.
Check Reddit. Lots of people are returning this for annoying reasons.
Certainly isn't a 4.5, the review lacks depth and has taken it on face value without properly reviewing the astra.

it has a fan yet it throttles to 57 percent???
even small phones with s8e have better thermals
speakes are so bad, you need good speakers on a gaming tablet, since there's latency on wireless buds
mediocre hdr
and no surface temperature test? since it has an aluminum frame, it probably gets uncomfortably hot
yikes, hard pass...

Anonymous, 25 Aug 2025Just wondering if it's better to get an iPad.Well ipads are great too, if you have an iphone it may make more sense to get an ipad if you can afford. This is a well priced gaming tablet, and gaming machines are good at many other things too.
This got and 8 elite, and it can handle everything that you can throw at android. For a display like this you need more money in the apple world.

ZTE is not known for their software update. Getting an 8 Elite device without any guarantee of software longevity feels like a huge gotcha.

amazing tablet for the price.. their phone and tablet are much cheaper than ROG, now RedMagic needs to make a cheap gaming laptop.
