Clearly the regulation is affecting it
PatrickCzech, 20 Jul 2025Max 5500 mAh per battery cell in the EU.That "5500 mAh EU limit" is pure fiction. That’s IATA aviation rules, not EU law, and it applies to spare batteries/powerbanks, not phones you buy in a store.
Phones with 6000–7000 mAh have been sold in Europe for years and going (Poco X7 Pro/F7/F7 Pro, Samsung M51, M62, Realme GT 7T, Tecno Pova 6 Pro, most Chinese OEMs + more).
Most OEMs ship stock by sea months in advance anyway, so airline limits aren’t even relevant. The reason EU models sometimes get smaller batteries is marketing/segmentation and greed, not some fake regulation.
Stop spewing OnePlus PR propaganda and take it back to Reddit.
PSA: There are (at least) 3 regional variants of the Nord 5, not 2 as reported here.
Europe which has no charger, no case and 5200mAh battery.
Global(?) which has no charger, no case, 6800mAh battery and identical network bands as the European variant. This is the one missing from the reports.
India which includes a charger, a case, has 6800mAh battery and different network bands compared to the other 2.
If you are in the EU, global version is your unicorn if you're willing to chase it (ordered and got mine from China).
Have contacted GSMA to correct this

I waited few months to buy Nord 5.
When released I went and buyer Nord 4, the better phone.

What is gsmarena talking about? The battery life isn't similar, it's less than last years Nord 4. Stop shilling for these companies.
Philippine variant of the Nord 5 had the same battery capacity as the Indian variant (at 6800 mAh)
Piku, 10 Jul 2025What ? IR Blaster, Headphone jack is not useful? There is no equivalent alternative to the 3,5 mm audio jack bar none.
Therefore the good old original audio jack is here to stay. Period.
To all e-trash manufacturers out there: I urge you not to remove the audio jack from your devices! You will regret it!
To all haters and fools out there : suck your thumb!
RaviSS, 11 Jul 2025Right. Camera sensor upgrade is only an upgrade because for some reason, it was downgraded to ... more1 step forward a few steps back 🤷♂️
As per recently introduced European energy ratings, Nord 5 gets a 'B' rating with a battery endurance of 49h 12m (with 5200 mAH battery). Further, It gets a 'C' rating in repeated free fall reliability class.
In contrast, Nord CE5 seems to be doing much better - an 'A' rating with 61h 48m endurance (with the same 5200 mAH battery) and another 'A' rating in repeated free fall reliability class.

Camera sensor upgrade is only an upgrade because for some reason, it was downgraded to 1/1.95" for Nord 4 from 1/1.56" in Nord 2 & 3 (and this IMO prevented Nord 4 from being the perfect midranger in 2024). Now that has been corrected, but rest of the phone is so underwhelming that it won't even be in the consideration for the perfect midranger in 2025.
RaviSS, 09 Jul 2025Largely agree with your observations. But hasn't the primary camera sensor been upgraded ... morehm indeed that is one noteworthy upgrade, nice find. Still doesnt make this that much better of a phone i'd say, idk.
Anonymous, 08 Jul 2025Lcd , IR blaster , headphone hack ? Is this 2012 again ?What ? IR Blaster, Headphone jack is not useful?
I understand no charger and a smaller battery because EU regulation, but i don't understand very high price.
In EU OnePlus Nord 5 8 GB RAM + 256 GB ROM 459 eur, no charger ,smaller battery
In India same phone but with with bigger battery and charger ₹31,999 aprox. 319e
I Don't think EU taxes are so high.
In EU should be cost around 300 euro with those specs.
Or EU people are richer or stupid enough to pay that price.
Hikari, 08 Jul 2025i'd hate to be that guy, but go work out your arms and hands XDPlease train me, dear Maintenance Man. Tell me about the exercises that will enlarge my palms. 🙏🏻

Sd card express is a brand new next generation technology. It was just introduced with the brand new Nintendo switch 2.
Also fm radio is still used in many modern devices even in the year 2025.
Better do some research next time, before you make a fool out of yourself, tool.

Rip metal body from nord 4, also EU regulation let me guess ? and ip65 only.... what a big joke
Aurel, 09 Jul 2025Why OnePlus 13R is selling in EU with 6000 mAh,this phone doesn't apply EU regulation?
... moreOnePlus may applied for some certifications....Same for Honor, with Magic 7 Pro EU version using 5270mAh,vbut RSR with normal 5850mAh.
For some brands they're using dual cell battery, each under 20Wh to mitigate the regular, like Xiaomi.
