vivo Android Announcement

vivo’s X Fold6 is the highly-anticipated successor to last year’s X Fold5 and it brings two big upgrades. The first one is a 200MP Zeiss-branded main camera, which features Samsung’s 1/1.4-inch HPB sensor. This is the same sensor used on the vivo X300 and X300 Pro telephotos, so we can expect solid performance here as well.

While we’re covering the cameras, the other two sensors are 50MP ultrawide and 50MP telephoto (LYT602) with 3x optical zoom. Photography fans will also appreciate that the X Fold6 supports the optional ZEISS Teleconverter G2, which offers a 200mm reach.

Outside of the fancy cameras, X Fold6 is armed with a generous 7,000 mAh Si-C battery, which is the largest capacity we’ve seen on a foldable to date. That’s a 1,000mAh jump over its predecessor while still supporting the same 80W wired and 40W wireless charging speeds.

You’re also getting updated IP58/IP59 ingress protection, which covers the device from dust and high-temperature pressurized water jets.

Getting to the displays, we have a 6.5-inch cover display with a 20.3:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. The main panel measures 8.02 inches and features a squarish 4:3.7 aspect ratio and the same 120Hz refresh rate. Both are AMOLEDs, and vivo claims they max out at 5,000 nits peak local brightness.

Under the hood, vivo went with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Super, which is paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.

The software front is covered by OriginOS 6 Fold based on Android 16. Vivo is adding a new Atomic Workbench multitasking feature, which allows users to run up to 5 apps simultaneously with each in their own window.

just proves my point. thickness never mattered and since they can't beat Samsung in being thinner they all increased thickness to add bigger batteries (which I prefer). Chinese phones have to brute force with hardware because they aren't ...

I don't know, maybe it has to do with the Chinese ones having actually competitive batteries, where as Samsung is stuck in 2020
