We noticed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is now down to €1,810 for the base 12/256GB model – it was €2,120 last week and it has an MSRP of €2,200 (here it is on Samsung.com). This also makes it cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold8, which is €1,945 for the base 12/256GB model, pretty much the same price as last week.

The Google Pixel 11 series launched this week, including in several EU countries. For now at least, Amazon is offering the same trade-in bonuses as it did during the week of pre-orders.

The Poco F8 Pro and X8 Pro are on sale right now with around €100 separating them. The F-series model is the more premium offering with a Snapdragon 8 Elite (vs. Dimensity 8500 Ultra) and a 50+50+8MP camera, which includes a 2.5x/60mm telephoto lens (vs. 50MP wide and 8MP ultra-wide on the X8 Pro). Both have large batteries, 6,210mAh and 6,500mAh, respectively, with fast 100W wired charging.

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion, Razr 70 and Razr 70+ are available with discounts and a bundle of accessories – a free Moto Watch Fit and free Moto Buds Loop. The Fusion has a 6.78” 144Hz OLED display and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, plus a 5,200mAh battery with 68W wired charging. The Razr 70 and 70+ flip foldables are powered by the Dimensity 7450X and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, respectively. Both have 6.9” inner displays, but the Plus has a larger 4” cover display (vs. 3.6” on the vanilla Razr 70).

The Motorola Moto G87 and Moto G77 are quite similar with their 6.78” 120Hz OLED displays, Dimensity 6400 chipsets and 5,200mAh batteries. What sets them apart from the average mid-ranger is the high resolution main camera – a 200MP sensor for the G87 and 108MP for the G77. The G87 is also the one to go for if you care about water resistance (it’s rated IP69 vs. IP64 on the G77). The G87 is drop resistant too (tested from 1.2m).

The Oppo Reno16 Pro is a small phone with a 6.32” display. It’s equipped with a 200MP main camera, a 50MP 3.5x/80mm telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide, plus a 50MP selfie camera. It’s powered by the Dimensity 8550 Super chipset, which is below what you might expect given its €1,000+ MSRP. The discount makes the mid-range chip a bit easier to swallow – just a bit.

The Oppo Reno16 is cheaper and while it loses the 200MP sensor (replaced by a 50MP 1/1.95” sensor) in the main, it keeps the 50MP 3.5x/80mm telephoto, 50MP ultra-wide and 50MP selfie cameras. This one is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and has the same 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging.

Then there are the Oppo Reno16 FS and Reno16 F. These are mid-sized phones with 6.57” displays and both use the Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset with a 6,500mAh battery. They have the same camera setup too – 50MP (1/2.0”) main, 50MP 3.5x/92mm telephoto and 8MP ultra-wide plus a 50MP selfie camera. The main difference between the FS and F is the memory configuration.

When flagship phones see price drops, it shows there’s no value in buying them at the launch price, look at mid-range models from Poco, Reno and Moto even years down the line, their resale value holds up better than those flagships. If you buy ...

These Oppe Reno prices are deluded. As are the Pixels. Answer is to look for the previous models at a much lower price.
