Apple macOS Rumors

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is planning to release a new entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip before the end of this year. The same time frame allegedly also applies to some new iMacs.

The MacBook Ultra with OLED touchscreen, expected to be offered in 14" and 16" sizes, is said to be "on track for release between the end of this year and early next year". This will be powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The Ultra is reportedly being tested with macOS 27.1, which is expected to become available at the end of October, so the hardware is definitely not launching before that.

Apple's Mac roadmap for the next two years leaks

An updated MacBook Air is coming in early 2027. Then, later next year, there will also be a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro with the M7 chip, and a new MacBook Neo with the A19 Pro chip. The MacBook Neo will apparently be "periodically" refreshed with new colors too.

A Mac mini with the M5 Pro and base M6 chips is in testing too, as well as Mac Studio models with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra, but the timing of their release is unclear as it's apparently dependent on "the state of memory-chip supplies". A MacBook Air with an OLED screen could arrive as early as 2028, and after that, there will also be an OLED iMac.

You're thinking of miniLED, microLED is a different display technology.

I agree. I specifically bought an IPS LCD laptop which has a gorgeous 3.2K 100% DCI-P3 display without any of the negatives of OLED. Micro LED is indeed the future, all the flagship TV's for example are moving away from OLED like the expensive B...
