Qualcomm Rumors

Qualcomm is working on a new chipset with the model number SM4875, and details about it have now been leaked. This is expected to be called Snapdragon 4 Gen 6, and thus will obviously be the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, which was unveiled back in May.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 comes with a very similar configuration of its CPU to that of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. It uses two Kryo Gold cores and six Kryo Silver cores. Unfortunately the leaked diagram you can see below doesn't show the clock speeds.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 details leak, here's what to expect

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 6's GPU is now the Adreno 6 series (compared to the Adreno 4 series in the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5), which should deliver much better graphics performance. The new SoC will support dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM at up to 3,200 MHz on top of the LPDDR4X support of the previous generation.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 will have four chip options OEMs will be able to choose from: the WCN3998-2 with support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2, the WCN3988 with support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1, the WCN6750 with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and the WCN6450 with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 6.0.

It's unclear when this chipset will be unveiled, but it might actually come as late as next year, which makes this leak incredibly early. We'll let you know when we find out more about it.

Won't make much difference if it still uses ARMv8 CPUs.
