Xiaomi Android Mobile hardware Rumors

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 is coming; we know that much for sure. In fact, it could arrive sooner rather than later, with many rumors speculating an August 2026 release timeframe. The device is already certified in China seemingly before any of the Xiaomi 18 family of devices, which is a good sign for a potential early release. Also, unlike the Xiaomi 18 family, the Mix Fold 5 does not need to wait for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gen 6 chipset, since pretty much every source out there agrees that it will run on the company’s in-house Xring O3 SoC, the much improved successor to the O1 from last year.

Fueling hopes for an early release even further, a couple of live shots have leaked of a foldable device that is most likely the Mix Fold 5. The photos don’t show much, but the device seems to be reporting as “lhasa” – the already well-known codename of the Mix Fold 5. Also, we can clearly see that the phone in question is running an OS version that begins with 4.0 and is based on Android 17. This checks out with Xiaomi’s long-standing practice of bundling a major HyperOS release with a major Android version upgrade. Plus, the visuals that can be seen seem pretty akin to the current HyperOS styling, with just a few changes seemingly geared towards the glass-infused design language that Android 17 introduces across the broader ecosystem.

As for other alleged specs, current sources speculate that the Mix Fold 5 will have a 7.5- to 7.6-inch flexible display with “seamless-crease” technology. Beyond the in-house chipset, we also expect a 200MP main camera, full water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a 6,000 mAh battery with wireless charging.

Unfortunately, there is already a price point floating around as well, and it is somewhere in the CNY 10,000 ballpark, which is roughly $1,400. And that’s just on the domestic market.
