Jemek, 03 Jan 2026Maybe it's just that Xiaomi is bad at optimisation.Any device that doesn't rely on AOSP, is poorly optimised. There's an obvious reason why HMDs, Fairphones and those numerous Japan-origin brands have exceptional endurance with small batteries.

TD070VA1, 03 Jan 2026That'd be more fitting if it is a Dimensity 6xxx chip as the 7xxx chip has moved on to A7... moreI don’t care about the naming schemes from a company that has renamed G99 dozens of times 😅

Hopefully this D7100 is cheap enough so we can get rid of D6300 and SD685 in the mid range segment.

the upcoming infinix60 pro plus should be coming with
the media tek dimensity 7100 and add ip66 ip69 ip69k
since it has an ip67 or ip68 and ditch that snap dragon

Almost identical to Dimensity 7300 but lower GPU and slightly lower CPU clock.

        Dimensity 7300: Mali G615 MC2 (Valhall 4th gen)
        Dimensity 7200: Mali G610 MP4 (Valhall 3rd gen)
        Dimensity 7100: Mali G610 MC2 (Valhall 3rd gen)

            waste of sand and silicon
and calling this new is a catastrophic joke. buyers would immidiately notice that it's gonna be worse and below than 7300, buyers are smarter now. it's not 2019 anymore.

Let's hope they upgrade that part before 2049 because reaching 2050 with Wi-Fi 5 or 6 and ancient USB 2.0 on many phones would be embarrassing for these companies."

Wifi 6 & 6E is actually the same tech
The diff is just the 6E have tri-band
But in some country the 6GHz band still controversial
Because it would be more better if it's use for mobile instead of WiFi
So, yeah. that's the one that make the 6E unpopular

hooha, 02 Jan 2026I think it is about paying royalty, A78 is a lot cheaper than A710 and other armv9 coreThis. One of the key reasons why both mtk and qc is reluctant to get past a78 for bottom of the barrel socs.

DarlingYext, 02 Jan 2026Mediatek has no idea how to name their products. Seriously why is this both newer and worse th... moreThis one makes sense. We're just used to be screwed by Qualcomm naming.
D7100 is worse because it is *older* than D7300.
Newer release, yes. But it's older fab than D7300 (6 nm vs 4 nm) and older GPU (G610 vs G615).
Honestly it makes more sense than Qualcomm s and + naming. Especially the madness of 6s 4G Gen 2.

But that could be a loooooong time since as I wrote before, many low end phones are still on Helio G81/Unisoc T606 and there are even a handful of SC9863A this year still. So I think we will see like a 6500 with 2.5 GHz and a 6600 with 2.6 GHz in the coming years which will be used until the end of the decade probably, especially since the jump from 4G to 5G adds cost again even if the rest of the tech is the same, as seen in the Helio G99/100/200 vs Dimensity 6100+/6300/6400.

Core configuration of the Dimensity 7300 with 6nm process of the 7050. Not bad actually. I always liked the 4xA78 + 4xA55 setup, and 6nm is good enough for budget phones which don’t use a lot of power to begin with. The 7050 is still fine as well so I don’t think it will be gone, probably just another option. The 6400 is still much worse than the 7050, but also a good option for manufacturers who want a minimum of decent performance like the G99 but with 5G. Considering in 2025 there were still occasionally phones with the SC9863A and many with the G81/T606, those need to finally be retired honestly
