Anonymous, 28 Aug 2025No one’s buying a sony these days There’s no debacle I just bought this 1 VII model yesterday. I have been using the 1 II for almost 4.5 years. No other phone provides the features I need: 3.5mm jack, memory card, >=6.5" OLED screen, high end camera with pro features (derived from the Alpha cameras). There are customers for everything, even if you think there aren't.

Phone 2k USD, not to mention Laptop/PC about the same price if something proper at least every 5 years.
Frankly it has been getting ridiculous for a while now.

I've long been a Sony (not to mention Japan) fanboy but I've got to say - there's reason why Japan totally lost the edge in the tech world. Even after decades, mis-management and totally lack of understanding of international trends is still a major issue. I honestly don't see Sony changing one bit. At least, until they fold the mobile division.

I'm glad Sony keeps making phones. They're the only interesting manufacturer alongside Asus, rest is Galaxy & Apple clones. And you clone fanboys can't seem to take that well. Go buy a Pixel or something.

I've tried Sony then Samsung . I like Samsung more for the bigger display and OneUI. Sony only has the SD card slot as an advantage . If Sony makes a direct opponent for the Ultra I might get one , but the unappealing os interface and Android support has to change for Sony .

How are they charging that much for a 1080p phone? The Samsung S10 I bought for like 300 euros 5 years ago has a higher resolution.

Here in the UK, every Sony smartphone currently on the official Sony UK online store is " out of stock " apart from the Xperia 1 VII in purple or green only.
I havent bought a Sony smart phone since 2011, I didn't even know they still made them.

It doesn't make sense that it passed quality control.
From the comments here it seems Sony has a lot of enemies.
Sony needs to send a sales agent to my country so I can buy its smartphones.
