I have the 1 VI and until now I could not get the 1 VII in purple in Europe because it came late on the Sony Switzerland site. And now all unavailable because of this affair. I will go all the way with this Japanese brand by keeping the very last one as long as possible. Next year it is true that it is possible, no longer sold at all in Europe even in a restricted way but only in Japan and there it would not be easy to get them to come. I do not want a Hong Kong version or other. Do you know when sales will resume for 1 VII. during autumn ?
This might be the only thing that japan failed to deliver smartphones.
It appears that Sony Xperia is more interested in its high price tags than in listening to its fans. By keeping its range name as Sony Xperia 1* but by downgrading its quality, I fear that it is scaring away its own fans.
I will not buy my next Sony Xperia 1VIII phone if it does not feature a true 4K screen with resolution 4096 x 2160 pixels.
Poppy10, 16 Jul 2025Sony has worse build quality controls than majority Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi or Honor... moreI don't think Xperia has the worst issues. I still remember the LG G4/G5/V10 and others who suffered bootloop issues over several generation of hardware. Or the Wifi chip chip died completely and you had to swap the whole motherboard to keep the phone running.
Jaux, 16 Jul 2025Sony is pulling out of Baltic statesWhat flagship to buy now with quite great camera, microsd slot, 3,5mm hole? If You say Xperia 1 will be not sold in Baltic counties anymore?
I use to love xperia phones until I upgraded to the xperia 1 iv. There was a strange echo when using the loudspeaker for calls. Contacted sony who denied this as an issue. Turns out it was a fault with this particular range experienced by many xperia 1 iv users. Sold my phone and haven't bought an xperia since.
Well this is what happens when you stop manufacturing your own devices and cheap out by outsourcing them to a 3rd party company.
Sony has worse build quality controls than majority Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi or Honor. And the customer support is no better than a Chinese phone. I remember my Xperia XZ1 had endless bootloops as well as a very support software support lifespan. Outrageous at the inflated price level Sony charges.
Anonymous, 16 Jul 2025Why did LG quite cell phone business?I think that LG phones were decent. They shouldn't have stopped manufacturing.

How are people going to backup their data before sending if their device does not turn on? *smh

Finally, thank God.
I was scared that Sony might be the next after LG, but thank god.
Hope they now launch this 1 VII in India. Can't get one here.
Anyone remembers the Nokia N8? Back then I bought 3 new Nokia N8 and all 3 had the same issue as the Xperia. Quality control issues. Happens when manufacturers want to save some costs.
It's easy to rag on Sony but QA issues happen to every manufacturer. At least they're going to offer replacements and not just ignore the issue (like the Zenfone RAMdump thing)
If such defect would be with iPhone then the fix will be much faster delivered: the fault is with the user, you keep the phone wrong.
Regardless of who is to blame, this is likely to be the death of Xperia outside of Japan.
Nick Tegrataker, 16 Jul 2025According to an unofficial source, it's Huaqin that is looking after Xperia 1 VII's ... moreWhere does my comment say huawei made this phone?
I say H built zenfone 8 and same issue was seen.
Outsourcing to companies in China / India is high risk of issues.
They care more about volume done than quality.
Sony did it to save money. Now gonna burn more to solve the issue.
Issue that would not happen if phone was made at their own factory like previous years.
