High price is the most repulsive thing of Sony smartphones. In all other points Sony has great smartphones with own great (IMO) design

Most of those 'stalwart supporters' have moved on long ago and are using a non-Sony phone.
They might still buy other Sony brand products e.g. audio accessories, Playstation, DSLR camera etc, but not a smartphone.
Overpriced, underspec'ed, limited availability, terrible aftersales support... only extremely loyal (irrational) Sony fans still buy a Xperia phone in 2025.

I've actually once stumbled upon a topic about a dead fingerprint reader on the Xperia subreddit, maybe you could try looking for info there, perhaps someone knows a fix.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2025I use a 5 III. It works fine. So does mine but it'll probably be blocked by Google or T-Mobile because it isn't new and it doesn't get updates. It still works fine though. Not one person has approached me to inspect it to see what version of Snapdragon it is running, looked to see what camera sensors it uses. Admittedly the audio quality is not at the level on my old LG but I use an inexpensive, low end external DAC amplifier and it's good enough, still not at the level as the LG but close with the external DAC. It's good enough. The photos are good enough. The reception and phone call quality are good enough. Also, the thing fits in my pocket and the LED light is useful as, obviously the micro SD card slot and the headphone jack. It's good enough.

Later on, it went dead with the fingerprint reader option gone. Now the option can be seen but shows error while trying to delete or reregister new fingerprint.
Haven't tried master reset, don't wanna do that for now as i am half ok without fingerprint reader.

It seems like it comes from overseas, which I think is really stupid when some Xperia model was supposedly manufactured in Thailand.
The same with purchasing car in Thailand (manufactured in Thailand), as it costs almost double there when compared with purchasing in US / JP.

I had Xperia sp-xperia z1-z3 premium -z5 premium and now using Xperia 1v ,I hope Sony will countinue producing new flagship phones because most of them works more than 6 years with few problems after 5 years.
My friends had Lots of problems with Samsung S7 series when I had Xperia z5 premium.I had tested so many phones ,Sony is the best in quality and stability

Typing is tough though.
My primary phone has 19.5:9 while my Xperia is 21:9. It has its pros.
For me QHD is the sweet point.
